Ok. So I have everything done. I have insurance approval. I am anxiously awaiting to hear from the surgeon what my date will be. Instead when I answer the phone, it is the insurance people from their office. They proceed to inform me that I need to make payment arrangements for the $35,000.00 that my insurance does not cover. Are you kidding me? I can get the whole thing done in Mexico for under $5,000. And that doesnt even have insurance. I have been asking costs since I started this a year ago. And I get to find out two-three weeks before my potential surgery?!?! I am devastated, deflated and enraged all at the same time.

Very sure. $35,000. I told the woman to repeat herself. Total for surgery was $50,000 but my insurance max is $15,000. Not happy.

I have final preop testing the end of march. I have insurance approval. I am going to a dr in carmel indiana. I am scared and excited. Those feelings happen at the same time and alternating. Depends on the day. Hoping for a date in april so my kids will be in school. Cross your fingers. Good luck to you all too

I worked in Eureka CA for about six mths.

I took the night off so that i wouldnt feel drained from the meds then have to work a 12 hour night shift. But they scheduled my scope at 7:30 and my physical at 1. So I hope I am not gorked the whole day. My Dr is about an hour and fourty five min from home. So my husband is going w me. Hope he finds a good book by then to take.

It should be a conscious sedation procedure with an quick acting sedative that wears off quickly and has an amnesia effect. You wont remember much but can swallow and help during if needed

I got my letter in the mail today w my EGD schedule and lab tests that will be the end of March. The letter says that the surgeon will review the results and barring complications, will then schedule me the next available date. Whether or not I can take that date will depend on my work schedule. I am hoping sooner rather than later.

I went to my fifth month of supervised weight loss attempt with my pcp today. Last appointment on the 12th of Feb. Then everything is ready to turn in to insurance. Done with psych and all other preop stuff besides labs. I am so anxious to get my date. I really hope they will let me know soon since everyone is signing up for vacations for the year at work now and I have no idea what to sign up for.

I have a dr appt next week, then one in feb and i have all of my requirements in for insurance. Hoping that I will get approved and get a date in march. Fingers crossed.

I am a wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, nurse and dog owner. Not necessarily in that order. It seems like my whole life has been happiest when caring for others. Somewhere along the line, I forgot to care about me too. So, now I am doing something just for me! I am soooo excited. I would have left my conversation wih my surgeon and gone straight into surgery that day if it had been an option. Unfortunately, my insurance company inserted several hoops in my path between now and my gastric sleeve. I am truly hoping to have everything done in order to have a March 2014 surgery. Hoping to make some friends here along the way.
