I'm Having A Minor Melt-Down
sapMegan replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't know about you but I had a TERRIBLE time finding clothes that fit and were cute. It seems like the bigger you get the more the stores think you should be wearing ugly clothes. So at least as you buy replacements you'll be able to find some REALLY cute stuff and with that knew body you'll love to wear them! -
I have a hard mass about the size of an egg under my main incision. My surgeon says it is scar tissue. Is there any way to help that shrink, massage it? ice it? I don't know! It's really uncomfortable when I bend over, move in certain ways, or have a little one snuggled in my lap.
-
I've got dark circles too. I'm two weeks out and by 5pm I'm ready for bed. Your body isn't getting many calories AND it's having tow ork extra hard to burn fat. Crossing my fingers it'll get better for both of us!

"egg" Under My Incision
sapMegan replied to sapMegan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It doesn't stick out at all but I had a sleeve so I don't have a port. I'll have to ask him again. -
Not just commercials! I see it in all the shows I watch! They're constantly eating!!! I think television wants us to be fat so we watch more!!!

9 days post op, down 26 lbs since starting clear liquids Oct 30th. Totally happy w/the sleeve and the weight loss... My surgeon has me on xclear liquids for FOUR weeks! All I can get down is MAYBE 2 sf Popsicles and MAYBE 1 sf jello. Can't stomach broth...trying to find protein that I can drink and I get my vitamins. But holy crap I am salivating at EVERY food I see and dreaming about cheesy bread! I want me some real food! How are people doing thus successfully? How are you coping with the crazy mental hunger (granted some is actual hunger). Tips fellow Novembers?

No More Protein Shakes/smoothies?
sapMegan replied to susan6161's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Will do. My doc always wants me taking Protein in addition to the food I eat I just also know that some of the shakes have extra stuff or they're made with milk or something sugary. It was just a thought -
The only way I could manage it was with hot cocoa. I found one with 20 calories and 4g of sugar, it's a nestle fat free one. I make the hot coca and throw the unflavored Protein in. I'm still on Clear liquids so it's not perfect but if it's the only way I can manage then I'm good with it!

I threw up because I was trying to eat when I shouldn't have been. Follow your surgeon's directions and you'll be good. Also I need to add that I have a VERY finicky stomach. I get sick on rollercoaster, in the car, on airplanes, when pregnant (the whole 9 months) I think people can be predisposed to have the throwing up as part of their recovery, not necessarily all but I'm sure I was. I hurt when I eat or drink still but I firmly believe that as my stomach has time to heal properly it will be as if I never had the surgery (minus huge portions). I ate that food because I was feeling crappy, I was hungry or nauseous all the time and just wanted something to make my stomach feel better (which food used to do). Obviously it had the opposite effect. Yesterday I finally figured out a way to get my Protein in and I feel WAY better, I'm not STARVING all the time. For the first 13 days I literally lived on 15-40 calories a day if that. I don't know how far out you have to go to get to protein, my doc had me start at 8 days (couldn't get it down). Things will get better. I'm glad that thus far you are feeling so well! I think that's a positive sign your sleeved future!

Excessive Perspiration Post Sleeve?
sapMegan replied to Branmuffin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm two weeks post op today. People tell me it's from being in ketosis... hopefully my body will decide to do ketosis without the stink! -
Can you pass the client off to someone else you work with? You need to separate yourself from this man and start putting the energy you were spending on him into your HUSBAND. Go on dates, talk every night before bed, go to bed at the same time, go take a trip together. Go to HIM with things that you are worried about or excited about. By bringing this other man in you are pushing your husband out. I've been on the other side of infidelity, it is nothing but selfish and it will DESTROY your husband. Work to love HIM again, if you can't get a divorce THEN pursue the other guy. That simple.

Can't Stand My Protein Drinks Anymore
sapMegan replied to VSGNeophyte's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just figured out that hot cocoa works for me. Nestle has a fat free 20 cal, 4g sugar packet. Throw that and some unflavored Protein into some hot Water and I can tolerate it better than I can ANYTHING else. -
I've lost a 2-year old, my husband lost a mid size microwave. You?
sapMegan replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost my two year old (30lbs). By the end of this if I lose ONE pound past my goal I will have lost the cumulative weight of all three of my children! (126lbs). My husband and I get a kick out of that! -
No More Protein Shakes/smoothies?
sapMegan replied to susan6161's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may not be entirely the Protein, it may be the shake itself. Every time I go in my surgeon hammers at me about how the pyloric valve (the one at the bottom of the stomach) is very effecient at letting liquids through very quickly and keeping solids in the stomach. He tells me to avoid anything mushy or liquid with calories because they'll go right through and your body's hunger won't be as satiated. "Make sure you are eating solids." He warns me EVERY time that if I don't stick to the solid foods (meat, eggs etc) that the surgery could be pointless. Just throwing it out there -
1 Weak Out - Dehydrated, Getting Hardly Any Protein And Starving
sapMegan replied to PinkBubble's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I couldn't get any Protein down for a week after I supposed to start taking it. Hot coca is my key, I just figured it out. Nestle makes a fat free one with only 20 calories and only 4g of sugar. I heat my Water, dump in the packet of cocoa and add a scoop of unflavored protein. Can't even tell it's in there. I have issues getting most anything else down but that hot coca seems to do the trick! -
Excessive Perspiration Post Sleeve?
sapMegan replied to Branmuffin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't had problems with excessive sweat but mine is about 10 times stinkier than it used to be, either that or I have a super-nose. Deoderant doesn't even seem to help! -
Everything I Eat Or Drink Hurts
sapMegan replied to bosoxgirl1966's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read that the swelling in your stomach can got up and down for up to 6 months. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the cause. Hope it gets better soon! -
Thanks guys It's the whole forbidden fruit thing except it's worse because you KNOW it's delish! Made the mistake of trying to eat something today.... spent 5 minutes in the bathroom throwing up. Learned my lesson... NOT worth it. Throwing up now is AWFUL (not that it didn't suck before)

Crushed Pills Pist Op
sapMegan replied to Andrew0929's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried crushing mine.... I'm on a prescription Vitamin... that sucker made me puke to no end.... tried cutting it in half, didn't work. Need that nice waxy coating to get it past my tongue. I was able to start taking pills about 5 days post op. Before that I just did without. Now I will say that lovely vitamin gives me that stuck in your throat feeling but in my stomach.... I hate taking pills. -
Sleeved 11.12.13
sapMegan replied to MouseOnTheMile's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 11/5. Could only get the tiniest bits of water in and then I'd dry heave like crazy. About the fourth day I started to be able to take a vitamin. Then each day I was able to drink I little more water. I'm up to all my vitamins now but my taste buds changed so I only manage one or two sugar free Popsicles and a sugar free jello in a day. Down 26 pounds, 16 since surgery so I'm OK w/that. Yesterday (day8) was the first day I felt normal. Hope you start feeling better soon. That nausea craps a B! -
I am experiencing a FOUL smell coming out of my skin. Not just armpits, though it's really bad there. The smell is everywhere and won't go away no matter how much I scrub it is so nasty! Any clue what's going on? PLEASE tell me all my nasty Vitamins are leaking out of my skin and that I'll smell this way forever!
-
I'm still in the Clear liquids... just started taking my Protein again today... though I'm not sure how that's going to work since I couldn't get more than two sips into it before the heaves started! My surgeon wants me to be clear liquids for another THREE weeks! (I'm one week post op) gah! Guess I better find some POWERFUL perfume or something!
-
*aren't, aren't leaking out of my skin. I really do want to smell normal again!
-
I'm 4 days post op and my steristrips are already falling off (probably because the shower is my most effective anti-nausea medicine) should I freak or is that OK?
-
Pi was planning to head to the store for more.... Just feels better mentally and physically to have them on! Do they sell the waterproof plastic covers? My steristrips started coming off when those fell off, thinking I want to out more on so I can take my showers! I've been checking the incisions, there is 0 indication of infection, they actually look pretty good. I think I'm in fluffnomore's boat, I'll be paranoid about these things for quite some time!
