Should I get pregnant before or after plastics
wynblade replied to mercy96's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
This is a topic I've been thinking about a lot myself lately. I'm almost a year out now and down 100lbs, I've just started to research plastics and their cost/the doctors I may be interested in. I currently have no significant other but do want kids at some point. when I find someone I dont want to jump right into baby making (thought the "practice" will be fun ;3 ) so I figure that I'm at least a min of 2 years out from having a baby. that will make it three years that I would get to live with the skin sack... :/ Are there any ladies here on the board that have had children post plastics willing to talk about their experience? did your body go back with the healthy eating and exercise or did you have a revision to your plastics? -
A lot of people do. Our body stores hormones in our fat cells so after surgery the rapid weight loss will actually force those stored hormones back into your system. This is part of the reason peoples emotions go kinda rollercoaster for a while... But the other effect is a major jump in sex drive.

Sex has been easier and often more fun, but for me anyway actually orgasming has been much more difficult. I'm not sure if my kegals are weaker or what.

Snacks for those craving a "crunch"
wynblade replied to fuzzymonkey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I tried them week five and uhh! The fried aspect got to my newly minted tiny tummy big time, I felt I'll for at least 30min after. I haven't tried them again yet. -
My point was when my knees and back started hurting constantly and I was up to arthritis medication to manage it... at 32. I took a hard look at myself and decided that I wanted to be able to walk without assistance when I was 42. And the only way to do that was to get the weight off NOW.

Thanks so much. Sounds like everyone is doing great! I find its both sad and fun to go through my clothes (I tend to get attached to my word robe lol) but I've had friends I let pick through the old stuff... she's waiting eagerly for me to get rid of some of my high end stuff

I just wanted to share my nsv with everyone. I've lost more than 50 pounds since I started this journey its been slow going and kinda frustrating but I'm really seeing results in my body. I started this process as a size 24 on the bottom inching towards a 26. Now I sit solidly in 18! Which means of shrunk out if every piece of bottom wardrobe I own lol. ...What a wonderful problem to have :-) My biggest challenge now is to find the mythical size 18 Jean at thrift stores. I would love to hear stories about others nsv, who else has shrunk out of their pants?

Best multivitamin option - had to share
wynblade replied to JessM11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm really intrested in checking this out! do you know if it contains all the minerals also? Lack of minerals was the main reason I could no longer take my gummie vitamins. -
Eating and drinking "rules"
wynblade replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The timer on my watch has become a wonderful and helpful thing. I'm not super diligent about the before time but I am about the after time, and sometimes when I'm thirsty I am counting down those seconds until it reaches 30min! -

wynblade replied to acampbell1318's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't be able to live without "my fitness pal" if your honest when using it it is an amazing tool! The stalls have been freaking me out too, I just try to remember to keep exercising I'd some way and to do my best to get all my Protein and fluids in. Good luck! I know you can do it -
Unflavored Protein Powder
wynblade replied to ambitious1star's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Ive been using Isopure flavorless powder and it has worked pretty good for me so far (has a rather starchy flavor) same issues about clumping if you have it at high temps. it savied my sanity towards the end of my liquid stage! I would mix it in with some low sodium chicken broth and OMG HEVEN! lol I was sooo exauseted on sweet protien shakes by then looking at them would make me sick. no that im on other foods I will add 1/4 scoop into my yogurt of my cottage cheese just as a little protien jump for the meal. I will still do the protien broth when I am due for a "snack" between meals and need to boost my protien intake for the day. -
I've had issues too. my bp was borderline low so my Dr said to 1) up my Protein (higher then my post op says). 2) make sure to get my min of 64 oz of Water in, more if I'm able. and 3) intake more sodium (yay salt! Lol). Due to running around all day at work I'm still having a hard time getting all my fluids in.

In my experience the most common reasons for feeling hunger are actually either; not drinking enough or acid reflux. The reflux confused the heck out of me for a while because it didn't feel like what it used to. I finally realized that if I take my antacid and drank water instead of eating something 9 times outa 10 it would go away.

Oh was thar last bite was a mistake.
wynblade posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 2-25-14 and I'm slowly getting back to "normal" my food choices have increased along with my activity and I'm back at work so am on more of a schedule then I was while recovering, which has been a struggle. I can't "snack" at work and have to go sometimes 4 or more hours without food, I wasn't one of the lucky people with no appetite after surgery so by the time I can eat my tiny tummy is roaring as loudly as it can (still much less then before). I've managed to curb the speed eating I used to do but I keep eating too much! (The whole 2 oz instead the 1.5 oz my tiny tummy would be comfortable with) I've always been a "clean plater" and that too I'm working on overcoming. Anyone else been having similar struggles? I would love any advice, tricks, suggestions you wonderful sleevers could send my way. I'm working hard to better listen to my body, which I know is the most important thing I can do. -
Does anyone know of a good fat free mayo?
wynblade replied to Aunt GG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What I found works well for me is using the non flavored Greek yogurt with a teaspoon of low fat mayo. It adds the Mayo flavor but you don't get the calories, Plus it ups your protein level. I mix that with tuna or boiled eggs and some pepper to make it tasty salad :-) -
6 weeks and 3 days- food question
wynblade replied to Ariella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you do decide to have it just make sure not to take it with any medication, it has a synergistic affect on how the body absorbs meds, making them much stronger then they normally would be. -
THIS is how the first 4 weeks go...
wynblade replied to HumanMerelyBeing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a wonderful post! And it really holds true for how I've been feeling as well thank you so much for sharing. -
Hey everyone , My surgery was on 2/25/14 starting weight: 276 weight day of surgery: 249 current weight: 229! I'm on soft foods right now and just hit the stage where I can have fish, salmon and Greek yogurt/cream cheese made me the happiest of people! Lol the only thing that really didn't settle well was low fat Peanut Butter, landed like a lead weight in my shiny new gut but I think that may be that my tummy just wasn't ready for it yet so we will see. I've already dropped a size and a half and I have been having fun shopping the thrift stores! But most importantly (and why I had wls in the first place) my knees have stopped hurting, and my back pain is almost gone. I had forgotten how it feels not to hurt and I am now very happily remembering.

wynblade replied to kathyhalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery was performed 2/25/14 Weight at time of orientation: 276 Weight going into surgery: 249 Current weight: 230 Since surgery I've lost 19 lbs Since starting the process I've lost 46 lbs -
My Nut said I couldn't have that until week 4 (1/2 way through 3) but man I can't wait to have that same exact meal! so close! In the mean time I figured out a way to bump my protein up, I took the unflavored 0% chobani Greek yogurt and mixed my vanilla protein powder in it with some benifiber and a little cinnamon, turned out pretty good and all mixed 1/4 cup had 20.5g protein.

Today was my first day on actual food! *happy dance* I don't care that its mushy lol. Breakfast was a 1/4 cup reduced fat cottage cheese, this was eaten over the course of an hour as I was very worried about a bad reaction. It settled great though lunch was 1 egg scrambled... and I couldn't finish it O_o the realisation that 2/3 of ONE egg could make me really full boggles my brain. So I was two for two! With boldness and excitement tonight I dished out a 1/2 serving (one tablespoon) of reduced fat peanut butter, and omg it tasted like heaven! ... and now I have a peanut-buttery lead in my stomach *snerk* apparently despite it being one of my approved foods for week 3 my tiny tummy disagrees. I guess peanut butter gets to wait another week or two. My hardest thing so far today is with having to wait 20min before food and 30min after I have failed horribly at getting my 64 oz of h2o. I already have a timer going to make sure I take a sip at least every 5 min, if anyone has any tips/suggestions on how to better get my h2o they would be greatly appreciated.
