Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery
sifford1 replied to hayleylamas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The titanium staples are permanent girl, they are in for good. They get covered with scar tissue and thats that. They don't get in the way of MRIs or airport metal detectors! Well yours may be but not mine lol! Other wise my dr is a liar which he's not! He told me I had two rows of mini tiny staples that would all fall out and eventually I would poop them out but were do small I wouldn't even see them!!! Maybe my dr does things more modern! You can give him a call if you would like!!! Rockwood clinic spokane wa , dr spitz , but any one will do! -

Really quick the staples they use for sleeve are so small you more than likely wont even see them when you poop them out! Gross but true! -
Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery

Can you explain the no restrictions on food an the "less invasive" part? Once you are healed , the chances of dumping are slim and only last a year to two! You can eat what ever you want just not much of it lol! My wounds were 5 tiny little cut that are already almost nonexistence 4 weeks out, plus my dr said its the least riskier of all and maintenance free! It's great tool to teach you to eat less and not be malabsorption! -

I just wanted to clarify , not negatively but I too had never heard of the sleeve, but actually it's been around for 20+ years! It was originally used and still is in cancer patients! My dr explained they used to sleeve in people who had stomach cancer/tumors! After the years went by they noticed weight loss, and started exploring it as a weight loss option! -
Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery

I will tell you this , for me it was risk, and quality of life! A local dr in my area won't even touch bands any more, way to many risks! And the problem with the band and bypass is the risks can happen any time! 1 year to 20 years from now! With the sleeve, risks , from what several dr have told me, only happen during the first couple of month during the healing process! You also have no restrictions on food and it is just as successful as the bypass! If you are a good candidate , sleeve is also less invasive, no foreign object, no retorting, limited complications! Bypass is a good option though if you have diabetes! And it can be reversed! -

Your metabolism re adjusts about 18-24 months. You basically have that amount of time to get used to eating right! I worry about banders. Your metabolism should do the same , kinda slows down, so what happens when the band comes off!!!! Is that why, when band problems happen , people need to get revisions! ? -

Has Anyone Had Their "colours" Done?
sifford1 replied to Hidden from view's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're asking about seasons or capsule wardrobes? I assume seasons? Omg it's so much fun. So basically, depending you hair, skin and eye color, you can be one of the four seasons. WInter, Summer, Spring or Autumn. I have dark hair, dark eyes, olive skin. I am a winter. I look good in jeweled colors and can wear both black and white without being washed out. I look great in purple, burgundy, mauve etc. My older son has hazel eyes, gold-brown hair, and a medium complexion. He is an autumn and can wear cream, rust, brown, deep green--autumn like colors. To put him in white is to wash him out, he needs cream colors. So it really helps to know what "season" you are so you wear colors that 1) complement your coloring and 2) all kind of go together. Color me beautiful was the original but it's been picked up by everybody and their cat since then. try the link on the site above and see if you can find out your season. And then, google your season and look at the images. So I did "deep winter color palette" and saw all this: https://www.google.com/search?q=deep+winter+color+palette&espv=210&es_sm=119&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=zaSPUpWANcmfkQe4t4HIDg&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1149&bih=562 Once you have that, you can search outfits on pinterest that fit that palette too. Oh you're going to be addicted soon! I am on it, lol! I am totally curious now! I may re do my whole family! Lol! It's gonna be like decorating a Christmas tree, but human Christmas trees lol! -

Okay I'm interested, what is all this about! I have never heard of this? -
So I have them too, but from what I've read, people seem to think its water pain from not drinking enough water! I was and have been getting them so bad they wake me up along with acid reflux ! Try increasing your water, it will take a while a day or so to work but try it!

Best and worst "compliments"
sifford1 replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
The nicest complement was from a mom that goes to my sons school, she basically said that she never comments on people's weight but noticed how much I lost, and continued to say how gorgeous i looked! The nicest part was when she said she had always thought I was gorgeous but I was a different slimmer kinda beautiful now! The whole approach and the sincerity was so nice! -
Sleeve Construction Problem!?
sifford1 replied to RichardVST's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr office explained tht there is no standard on the way they do sleeves! My dr leaves a little more room at the bottom because he believes it decreases the chance of food becoming stuck, so mine prob looks like a half barbel! My nurse said if I'm not careful in following the food steps it can cause sleeve damage! I to suffer from the same feeling, gas pain ,bloating ,and so on at 4 weeks out! My nurse will only allow me to take maalox right now, but I read a lot of people's stuff who suffer the same way , and they all say Prilosec is a miracle once your able to eat solids! -
My nurse told me I will be hormonal sometimes, because hormones are stored in the fat, and when you loose fat it will release hormones! This , I will be a little crazy, on top of the changes going on!

I haven't lost weight in a week and I am feeling depressed! I was kicking but then I start purée and haven't lost a pound! I feel like I went thru all this for 30 lbs, and now I'm done

Why The Sleeve Over Bypass
sifford1 replied to follmerpa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got the sleeve because it has way les risk factors, over time there are none, they don't re arrange thing, and it's a good place to start! Your also pretty normal, just a smaller stomach! Rny was just to risky for me. -
Plus it's the only thing my dr would let me take!
-
Yes , maalox! Right before or right after, then I hear Prilosec when you can go to solids! I am sorta with you, my pain is in my esophagus ! Maalox has done wonders
-
Oh I hope so, I really feel like I am doin something wrong and I'm never gonna get it!!! Then I think, wow I did all this , for this! Lol! And then I think,,, now I'm done and I only loose a pound a month from now on! So many thoughts, my husband says it will pass, he got sleeved 6 month ago, but his was so different than mine so it's hard for me to believe!By the way, from your head shot, you look great!
