ok...so how do u know if ur eating too much in order to cause ur pouch to expand? I mean i dont over eat...but at the same time i can eat an ok amout. Is there a cetain limit (like oz. wise) that we (bansters) should not be consuming 'over' at each meal? should i be a stickler for measuring out my food or just go by how i feel? if ur pouch is overstuffed do u get a feeling or a sensation from it?

i am on the fuller liquids/mushies phase of my post op diet and i feel like i can tollerate more then i thought.... is that bad? i mean im not really sure when to stop eating. Its not like i am eating these huge portions... but it seems like im eating more then i originally thought would be possible. is this normal? for example- i ate a banana and like 3 oz. of cottage cheese... then a little later (like a half hour) i had about 4oz. of Soup... i just want to make sure that im not hurting myself by doing this. I feel fine and there is no discomfort so im not sure what kind of guide to give myself in terms of when enough is enough.... i know this is kind of a vauge thing to be asking about...and im sure evryone is differnt but any thoughts would be helpful xoxo ali

I have NO CLUE about the hematoma....u should probably call ur dr and ask him i mean thats what u pay him the big bucks for! as for eating... this is what i have learned and experieneced. Most likley a few bites wont KILL u but its NOT something that u want to keep doing and heres why. The band is inside of u and around ur stomach but is not restricted at all. Ur stomach is still swollen from the surgery...u may be right- u maybe healing "faster" then most but honestly no one can tell for sure thats why they have u take this time on the fuller liquids and mushies to allow ur stomach and all the stiches inside of u to get stronger. so try hard to follow the diet not matter how horrible and hard it may seem- beleive me i knooooooooow its not easy! I think its normal to feel hunger...and even feel psychologically that u want to eat...i know thats how i felt and still feel at times. I promise u that u will get thru this phase- the next phase gets easier and im sure it gets easier after that. I guess part of having the band is about adjusting ur life and ur thinking and acting in a different way then we are used too. A way that we probably arnt used to thinking so it takes time for our minds and bodies to adjust. I still havent figured out a way to get my mind off food... but im sure it will come with time!

so what are the percentages of slippages? how do they occur? is there anything that can be done to prevent them? im new to the banding world and although i knew before i had the band about things like this happening it didnt become a reality to me until i actually got banded and now am wondering how to keep myself healthy and everything intact!

I was thinking the same thing as most people that responded... i would want someone who has done well over 100 surgeries... i think i remember reading that somewhere when i was first looking for a dr to do the band.

The day is rapidly approching... i am getting banded on monday jan 9th 2006. I have been waiting for over 7 months for this day- i can't believe its finally here...ok enough babbling now lets get down to the nitty gritty! 1. How long did it take people to "recover" from the surgery- and by that i mean from the time you wake up until the first day u actually feel somewhat better and are able to go out and do things...maybe get back to work (depending on ur job)...or run some errands? Im not talking like back to ur old self again- but somewhere in between... i know it varries from person to person but i'd like to hear some stories so i know what maybe to expect. 2. What do u think is the KEY for making the band work for u? whats the most important thing u have learned from it? I keep reading about people who are having problems loosing weight and so on and so forth and i want to figure out what makes it sucessful- so that i can be sucessful and loose the weight i need too. ANY STORIES, DIET/EXERCISE SUGGESTIONS OR DIET/EXERCISE POINTERS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECITATED... xoxo Alikat -
anyone use or know of any great dr.'s in new jersey that perform the surgery?
