I am going for my first fill on March 1st. i keep reading about some people whos drs dont give them a fill if they are loosing weight. is that true? I am loosing weight (without a fill) but dont be fooled- its a HUGE struggle. i basically am just doing what i normally would do if i didnt have the band and i was on a diet. i am hungy and i want to eat i just dont bc i figure whats the point if i just went thru this surgery in order to get heathy. BUT now im worried now that my dr isnt gonna fill me when i go in... is it silly to think that? or could that be an issue? any and all thoughts on the situation would be appreciated especially if u have been thru something like this...

so what are people doing to for exercise? any good workout vidoes that u've tried? how much do u workout everyday/week? Im looking for something fun with good music thats not dated and i guess kinda easy bc im new to all this... I just got the workout video from the tv show the BIGGEST LOOSER. I dont know what posessed me to do this...but i did and i have to say im pretty happy with it. NOT TO SAY IT WASN'T HARD- and i hate working out so aside from that i think its a great way to work back into some kind of routine. I mean by NO MEANS was it easy- i pretty much had to turn it off 23 minutes into it bc i was DYING. I was kinda disapointed (at myself) in a way bc i wanted to do the whole thing but at the same time i really dont wanna push myself either. I guess the thing i liked the most about it was that they used people from the show (obviously before they lost all the weight) and u can see they are sttttrrruuuggglliing tooo! that made it more real to me. Not to mention that trainer in the video is pretty hot...

although i do know its possible to loose more weight- im looking at the scale and seeing a number and wondering if i will ever get any thinnner then i am right now. is that crazy? like i had this surgery and im still doubting that it will work for me even thought i am being good and eating healthy it doesnt seem possible bc i am soooooo used to FAILING... how horrible is that? just wondering if anyone else has felt this way...and have had themselves proven wrong...

ive been meaning to post about this for a while... i started taking VIACTIVE Calcium and Multivitamin and am LOVING them. I dont know if u have ever seen them- they are in that puple box and are little chewy 'candy like' Vitamins suppliments. THEY ARE EXCELENT... if anyone has a hard time stomaching vitamins and or the calcium suppliments these are the ones to get. The mutil-Vitamin doesnt taste as great as the calcium...but all in all its better tasting then say Flinstones and caltrate.

i have suuuchh a hard time not eating at night... my boyfriend says its better not to eat after a certain time. What do ya'll think of that? Is there a certain time at night that you stop eating...and furthermore do u think it makes a difference?

SOOOOO today i saw a client of mine (who i havent seen in a while) who had the band put on last may... and i swwwweaaar i had to do a tripple take she lost so much weight (maybe like 70+ lbs). I was in shock! I was so happy to see her bc it just confirmed my notion that thiiis thing reaally works. I mean i know the band works...but sometimes i get so discouraged reading on these sights about how people have a hard time loosing the weight and/or are having problems... i was sooo happy all day i was beaming ear to ear. I just know this was the best thing i could have ever done for myself health wise and not to mention it gives me hope to be able to sqqqquuuuueeeeezze into a bridesmaid dress in september! * randddddom side note- i was so pissed when i bought the dress in the first place being plus size and all- finding out they only made the dress UP TO a size 16! i mean what the heck is that all about? If i wasnt planning on having the surgery or loosing the weight somehow i probably wouldnt have even been able to be in my friends wedding. I was soooo pissed about that and still am!

hey gurrrl... i was just thinking - instead of feeling bad sometimes about what u eat... try finding the things u like in lower calorie stuff. Bc lets face it - its hard to totally change our way of eating over night. And its seems like u are very concious about what ur putting in ur mouth which is a great start! So like if u really like chips- why not try baked tostitos and use lower fat cheese....i mean it still tastes good and maybe will take away the craving and its kinda healthy as well. Another example- I LOVE MEXICAN food...and have found that its really easy to subsitute higher calorie/fat ingredience for lower calories and fat without really changing the taste. I like to snack on those 100 Calorie packs from Nabisco... i dont know if u have ever seen them but they are GREAT- they are perfectly propotioned so ur not OVEREATING but at the same time ur getting a tatse of something u love. Perfect to nip that craving bug right in the butt! i dunno- i mean u probably already thought of that but i figured i'd still mention it. I think ur doing a great job- keep up the good work! i like reading ur posts. kepp 'em comin'...

what time do u stope eating at night?
aligirrl77 replied to aligirrl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i ment to write STOP... but u all knew that!!!! lol -
i actually made two batches and tried everyones suggestions... thanks so much for all ur help... i did find that they both came out very very very dry and were very hard for me to tollerate even though i chewed it into much...now im not a seasoned cooker so maybe that was the problem! My next question obviously will be...how the heck do u get it to be softer and moister? i know these questions might sound stupid to u...but i have noo idea what im doing sometimes in the kitchen so bare with me. Should i cook it for less time?

i want to buy a scale but im always fearful they arnt accurate... anyone purchase one they find to be durable and right on the money?
-
Im just curious its happened to me twice so far... and im like freaked out bc obbbvvviiously i dont want it to happen that often bc i know its bad for u. The two times it has happened it seemed like i was was toally in "old habit" overdrive mode (eating too quickly not chewing well enough ect ect)...its suchhhhh a hard habit to break but everytime! BUT everytime i get a PB im freaaaaaked not to ever let it happen again...so it makes me think more while im eating (so maybe its a hard lesson a bandster has to go thru in order to chang the habbit). Just wanted to see if its happened to people more then once...and what are some of there suggestions as to stay focused while eating!

Some recent thoughts of mine, and ramblings...
aligirrl77 replied to HeatherGurl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i alwasy have said either u have sex appeal or u don't... like ur born with that inherent nature to 'work what yo' mama gave u' or not! The problem is when ur a bigger curvier women- like most of us here - society doesnt ALLLLLOW u to explore that side of urself. They basically make anyone who is curvy or overweight seem and feel unattractive and unsexual...which is OBVIOUSLY NOT THE CASE. And while it might be IN YOU (like u said u have always wanted to be) for whatever reason - psychologically- u have stopped urself from thinking that anyone would even consider u to be sexy and flirty and womanly bc u are 'heavier'. Its not abnormal to feel that way!!!! Im sure that the attention that ur getting now makes u feel AWESOME and SCARED all at the same time bc ur not used to allowing urself to feel good about urself. The thing is that u need to STOP urself from being ur worst critic... alot of times people react to US the way we react to THEM. So all these years that u have been thinking that ur friends have treated u like 'just one of the guys' might have just been bc u were reluctant and insecure about urself and thus putting up a front. One of being seen more as "friend" then as something more! do u get what im saying here? The second that u start believing in urself and having confidence people are going to instantly be attracted to that... whether or not ur 300 lbs or 120 lbs. Believe me there are mannny men that find plus size women attractive and would pick them over a skinny annorexic arm charm anyday (im guessing ur husband is supportive of u and has been thru the best and worst time of ur weight). i never had a problem picking up men even when i was at my heaviest (not to sound like im bragging bc im tooootally not) but it was alllllllll about my attitude and personality...not about how i looked. I mean i just tried to work what i had and not constantly dwell on what i didnt like about myself. That was something my parents instilled in me at a young age- they alwasy made me feel like i could conquer the world not matter what. And that just proves to me that u have to be comfortable in ur own skin in order to really allow that side of u to come out... In my opinion i get PISSED when guys that i have known for a while all of a sudden start complimenting me and saying im hot or this and that after i have lost a few pounds. I basically want to punch them in the face and ask them what the hell was so wrong with me in the first place? THAT annoys me and i think i'd rather NOT hear it then hear it...bc it just confirms the fact to me that society is filled with a bunch of superfical loosers. HAHA wow im not bitter! -
I have some necklaces that never used to fit around my neck... and now they do... lol... i was like in shock when i put one on today... so random but it was such a great feeling that i had to share

can u substitute bread in turkey meatloaf/balls?
aligirrl77 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
what can u subtitute for bread crumbs in meatloaf or meatballls? does anyone have any suggestions or recipies they have tried and are good? i really want to make some kind of meatloaf or meatballs but i dont want the extra calories/carbs from the bread in it. i know that its a small amount but i just was wondering if there was anyway to cut it out completly and use something else. Im also looking for a recipe that is low fat/low carb and still taste good...if thats at all possible. i tried a recipe the other day that was REALLY gross (not from this site) and since i had such luck with my chili u guys have now become my go to source for great food ideas!!!!! ok hope to hear from people soon! xoxo ali -
when i said 'lie down and rest'... i meant until the acute pain subsided...not just to lay and rest for the duration of ur recovery! haha i just wanted to make myself clear...
-
I WAS THE SAME WAY! omg after the surgery i was like what the HELLL!!!! i was in so much pain. I used ICE instead of heat- someone told me the ice works better (i dunno if its tru) ...and just tried to rest and lay down as much as possible until it went away... the only good thing about it was that it took all the pain away from the actual surgery itself!! haha

looking for a tasty low fat chili recipe that i can make in the slow cooker... any one have any good ones they want to share?
