I like this idea. In this phase I still need lots of support and it would be nice to have a subforum. -
Pro biotics
reading mom replied to Pretty_In_Purple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Probiotics are one piece of the pie for keeping things regular. Also important is adequate Fiber and fluids. My friend who is a registered dietitian recommended align for me. She said many studies done on the use of probiotics use align and she felt confident about recommending that brand. Of course your mileage may vary, but it's one to try. -
My answer is similar to M Rev's. Try a truffle or two that are the darkest and highest quality you can find. this truly satisfies me till the next time I'm hormonal.

Im glad you had a treat. You should be able to have a treat occasionally. My friends who are naturally thin eaters do this and remain thin. The principal I have developed for myself is if I really crave it try a small serving, then observe the consequences. If a small serving satisfies the craving I put it in my rare treat category. But if I notice that the next day or so I'm really craving starchy sugary foods then I know it's not for me. For example I tried adding a little granola to my greek yogurt a few times and my cravings went through the roof. For me granola is a gateway carb. But a high quality dark chocolate truffle or 2 will hold me a month or more till the craving crops up again so I allow myself those once a month. We are all different, but I find variety and staying away from deprivation important for long term success. I'm just really grateful you feel up to eating a pop tart!!! Take care!

My thought is to proceed with surgery as scheduled. Yes, in a way this is selfish, but the paradox is the better you care for yourself the more you have to offer others. As you get healthier everyone in your circle benefits.

cream of chicken soup?
reading mom replied to jennynoblemiller's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It was on my list of suggested foods on full liquids, but you mentioned gurgling. I had temporary lactose intolerance for about 3 months after surgery. I suggest trying a lactose free milk to add to Soups and shakes. That gurgling could be a reaction to lactose. -
Suggestions needed for lactose free protein drinks?
reading mom replied to shirlyn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had temporary lactose intolerance for a few months after surgery. I used creamy vanilla Isopure Protein powder and lactaid milk to make my shakes. It is not dairy free. Its made from whey, but it is lactose free. Now I make my shake with reg milk and I do fine. -

Thursday Fun--Does your sleeve have a nickname?
reading mom replied to hopeliveshere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love hearing these names. LOL! Mine is Eveie the sleevie. BTW I'm not sure how to spell Eveie, but it rhymes with sleevie. -
Last Sunday I weighed 204. Today 197!!! Woohoo!!!!! I was beginning to fear I would never weigh less than 200 lbs again. That means I lost 7lbs in one week. I know for some of y'all that is no big deal, but for me it is amazing! I began my journey with a month long stall. My average rate of loss is 5 lbs a month with 2-3 lbs a week if its a losing week. I am over the moon! I just wanted to say keep following the plan and things do work out!

Thank you! And congratulations to you too! Time for a happy dance!

I guess this is yet another case where the rules are different. My directions were no make up, moisturizer, deo, powder and no polish on fingers or toes. I did wear clear polish though and no one objected. I guess you will just have to ask about the policy where you are getting sleeved.

Bikram Yoga (aka Hot Yoga)
reading mom replied to CubsWinCubsWin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I attended my first yoga class on day 8 post op with my dr's blessing. I was a fast healer. My incisions were completely healed by day 10. Now I was not doing hot yoga, but a gentler style. My advice is go slow and modify modify modify! Listen to your body and be gentle with yourself. I resumed my practice about 5 months pre op to meet my goal of going into my surgery being as healthy as possible. And I think my practice pre and post op has been crucial to the whole weight loss process. Go but go slow. Namaste -
best haircut when your hair falls out?
reading mom replied to NMJG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went to a chin length layered cut. By the way it didn't slow my hair loss rate, it just meant the hair that fell out wasn't so long. Thank goodness my hair loss rate is back to normal. I have started growing it back out. -

Did you enjoy your weight loss journey?
reading mom replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While I do try to focus on the positive aspects it had definitely been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, The mental and emotional part of the journey is harder for me than the physical part. We just have to keep trying! -
slow losers I want to hear from you!
reading mom replied to ucjes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I define slow loser as someone who's weight loss rate is slower than 2 lb a week average. I average about 5 or 6 lb a month. my monthly pattern goes something like 3 lbs the week after my period, 2 lb the next week, then stall till after my period. It varies some, I found noticing a pattern helped me stop feeling so frustrated. -
