    Protein shots

I haven't tried them yet. At a recent support group meeting with my surgeon's office, we were told by the nutritionist that you can only absorb roughly about 20 gm of Protein at a time, so we were told to break up our protein, for optimal absorption, to between 10-20 per meal/snack.
  2. At the suggestion of someone in my support group, I tried PowerCrunch bars. I've been on what seems to be a never-ending search for one that's good, some are too sweet and some are just plain yucky. These are like heaven. I've found them cheapest here: https://www.vitacostrewards.com/kgmQNrc
  3. I had my sleeve on 11/21/13 and to date have lost 42 pounds and can't tell you how many inches. I'm averaging a pound a week. The weeks I exercise more have been 2 pounds lost. I too thought I was a slow loser, but my surgeon as well as my PCP have said healthy weight loss is 1 to 2 pounds weekly. Hey, any weight lost is an awesome thing!
  4. Im sure it's probably different for everyone but are there specific clues to watch out for?
  5. I lost my shoulders and boobs, any exercises for them?........lol

    I give up (updates)

Don't give up! I was the same as you, didn't think I could, but then every time I had that thought, I would look into the mirror and say (to myself), suck it up, you HAVE to do this. And I did. Sleeved on 11/21 and 22 pounds gone. I believe in you!
  7. I am getting sleeved on 11/21. On the advice of another sleever on a different board, I went to www.insurenutrition.com. You fill out a form with insurance info and they do the leg work. I was approved and monthly will get protein shakes and vitamins. For anyone getting any type of bariatric procedure, definitely check their site out. I am so glad I did.
  8. Just an update, my vitamins were paid via my prescription coverage. The first two shipments of shakes were complimentary but NOT covered under my medical. I'm not complaining, I got the shakes enough for the 6 weeks postop. So no mores shakes delivered for me. Still give it a try, at the very least, you'll get the shakes for when you need them the most.
  9. Preop I started at 204 and 2 weeks postop(last Wednesday) I am down 17 pounds. I've been following the plan and trying to exercise, and am so afraid of overheating.
  10. In my research throughout this whole process(I'm 11 days postop), I finally found a site that has such a great selection of products for us. I placed an order and cannot wait til it arrives. https://www.bariatricchoice.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/118801/. They seem to have everything

    Chocolate Cravings

Walden Farms makes an excellent fat free, sugar free, calorie free chocolate syrup. I've used it prior to my surgery and can vow, it's really good and chocolately.
  12. Syntrax 5.0 simply vanilla protein is the bomb of vanilla protein. It mixes well and tastes awesome. Sweetened with Sucralose

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...

I was sleeved 11/21, spent 2 nights in hospital. Never really had much pain, but when I get up from sitting down, I feel as if I'm carrying a bowling ball. Everything has been going down fine except for today, if anything is too cold, I get like a heartburn feeling. Including preop diet, I'm down 16 pounds!
  14. I'm sitting here lamenting the fact that I couldn't even have a bite of turkey and stuffing. I'm bummed but I'll get over it. Guess it'll be soup for dinner ((grumble))
  15. Think I have 5, plus many shades of purple, black blue and green.....yikes
  16. My surgeon gave me a card to carry with me when I'm able to go out that states to please accommodate any request I have or let me order children's portions. As for who I tell or not, I haven't run into that yet, but have a cookie swap coming up in December, so I'll let y'all know.
  17. That is awesome! I was sleeved on 11/21 and already lost 11!
  18. I'll be on day 1 of full liquids on Thanksgiving, but I plan on having 1 small bit of everything, if I can tolerate it. Then back to the liquids.

    Day 5 Post Op

I'm the same postoperative as you and so sick of broth. Got some egg drop soup tonight, 1/2 cup and it settled really well. I'm going to drain the can of vegetable soup tomorrow for lunch.

    Coffee Question.,,

When I went to the info seminar, that day I switched to half calf and then stocked up on decaf K-cups. I was at least a 5 cuppa day. About 2 weeks later, when I tried a regular coffee from DD, I couldn't drink it, gave me palpitations. I find the transition a good one but will only get 'good' decaf(k-cups). I find that store brand is rater weak tasting for my liking.
  21. I'll be 1 week postop on Thanksgiving and plan to have some mashed and sweet. And 'maybe' a well smushed bite of turkey.
  22. Just got home today. Water goes gown okay. So does iced tea. Hopefully dogs wii leave ma alone so I can nap.
  23. There is absolutely nothing in my several page instruction booklet regarding preop bowel prep. It only says no fluids after midnight Wednesday.
  24. I'm on day 10 of mine....but my surgeon is allowing full liquids ( cream soups, farina, cottage cheese), so mine hasn't been bad at all. Except for when my husband got pizza....it was hard, but I stayed away.
  25. Well, I just looked up on my prescription coverage website and my copay for the Vitamins (the 2 huge bottles) was $30. I may have to make a call because I was told I wouldn't pay anything.
