I miss my coffee, and detest de-caf! Based on this research, I'm going to ease back into my morning cup o' joe tomorrow! :-)

how many people are using the nutribullet blender
MisFit replied to jaysleever's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have a Magic Nutribullet and highly recommend it! I am 3 weeks post-op and been experimenting with soft foods, fish & chicken, so I haven't used it in about a week. I'm missing vegetables, and am going to explore some veggie smoothie recipes w/ unflavored protein powder. In the past I've made smoothies w/ oatmeal, apple juice & cinnamon; pineapple, coconut Greek yogurt & skim milk and chocolate pudding, low-fat peanut butter & skim milk. If you can dream it, the Nutribullet can turn it into a smoothie. I prefer unflavored protein powder, although I occasionally enhance the nutritional value with either chocolate or vanilla. Get creative... It's fun! -
I am one of the fortunate post-op VSG patients (6 days) who has breezed through this process. I've been amazed that I have not struggled much, except with low energy and little endurance. My daily shower wipes me out, and I need a brief nap afterwards! Late yesterday afternoon, I learned I could begin my full liquid diet! Immediately, my thoughts turned to some of my favorite foods and how I could adapt them. I've been craving vegetables! All through the night, I dreamed of various concoctions, and this morning when I woke I had a plan. I took a can of Campbells Savory Vegetable Soup, blended in my Magic NutriBullet with some additional beef broth, 2 scoops of unflavored Protein and Pampered Chef''s sun-dried tomato herb seasoning, and other spices on hand to taste. YUM! I'm interested in learning about other's adaptations of on-hand products, as well as some of your favorite recipes for both the full liquid diet & pureed foods. Has anyone pureed chicken or turkey in a recipe? I'm craving meat too!

I Messed up big time need some help
MisFit replied to ljperez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First... I honor your courage in confessing your binge and baring your soul on this site! Do you see how your vulnerability in doing so has touched so many people? Forgive yourself, each of us on this site do! I have a Christmas dinner with in-laws this Saturday, and for some reason I found myself feeling very cocky and overconfident thinking I would simply eat what everyone else was having - and only 6 days post-op! When I stepped back from my own thoughts, I realized I had an underlying commitment to be like everyone else who will be at this gathering. I want to join in, cut loose and throw caution to the wind! And in this instance, it's about food! I also want to avoid judgment or unsolicited commentary, one of the ways others at this gathering may cut loose and throw caution to the wind! Since I realized that, I have been creating some useful ways to support myself and will illicit my husband's support as well. I involve him in this process as much as possible because he will have an investment in my weight loss success too! Your post has helped me realize just how fragile I still am in my addiction to food and overeating! We all need help from time to time. Sometimes my ego gets in the way of my asking. Thank you for posting, and allowing all of us to be a part of your learning & changing process during this journey! -
Thinking about getting gastric sleeve
MisFit replied to sbailey1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I chose the sleeve because there was no malabsorption and I was not willing to have a lap band. Having a foreign object in my body that required maintenance was repellant. Five days post-op and I have very little pain or difficulty. I am still on a liquid diet and have no idea what I've lost. I have very little energy, and it doesn't concern me as this adjustment is so new, and my body is recovering from the trauma of surgery. I am consuming what I've been told to consume - including vitamins. I am very optimistic, and I would encourage anyone considering this procedure to shop carefully for a surgeon / hospital. Pre-op was an incredibly positive experience for me because I had, and continue to have, so much confidence in my surgeon, his staff and his hospital affiliation. If you do your homework, the 'test' will most likely be a breeze! Best wishes! -
Frequently Asked Questions
MisFit replied to Lilee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! My doc has me doing injections for 10 days post-op. I hate them. I do them anyway. Actually, my husband injects me. It involves him in the process and helps him feel he is doing something to support me. This too shall pass... -
When will i start to feel ok?
MisFit replied to Sabredy12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yikes! You just had major surgery and today is only the 15th! Give yourself a break and keep acknowledging you are feeling better everyday. Call your doc about the weakness, and perhaps he/she can give you some direction. I am post-op from 12/11, and can tell you I have barely done anything other than walk, doze, read and visit with friends. My shower knocks me out, and afterwards I need a nap! I noticed today when I bent over to pick something up, it felt easier. I consider that to be a HUGE step towards full recovery! Best Wishes... -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
MisFit replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A big part of my decision-making process included my declining health... hypertension, huffing & puffing when walking, herniated disk, sore knees and dreading ANY visit to my doctor. Also, I got tired of my clothes, limiting all my activities, requesting "big girl" seating when out and not being able to be as active as my husband and his friends. I stayed home or sat out a lot!!! I also wanted to create a more credible image for my work as a psychotherapist and life coach. At times, I know weighing over 300 pounds in the helping profession hurt my credibility. I really got to a point where I knew I needed to address my own weight issue in order to be a viable resource for helping others. I am 4 days post-op, and I have no regrets. -
My pre-op liquid diet began the day before Thanksgiving AND I love to cook! It was only my husband and me, so he was content to eat a sandwich and his usual Snacks. I have been experimenting with various options for my shakes, and felt like a queen when I indulged in a cup of beef broth and later on - a sugar-free popsicle! Woo Hoo!!! I do believe my resolve to be compliant overcame my desire to eat as usual! The past couple of days I've been somewhat lethargic and spacey, and have had a headache - which I presume will be gone in another day or two. Stay tuned!

Stair Climbing Question
MisFit replied to moregoodtimes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good news for me that stairs are not a big issue post-op! I have 14 to go up and down to my bedroom! Yikes! -
