Out 7 Days & Pissed
Scorpion11 replied to ADaniel8267's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm sorry you're dealing with this drain issue. I would suggest you walk into the doctors office and tell them you're I'm severe pain and please have it removed. Tell them you will wait until doctor can see you. If he's not available inquire if nurse can remove it. Mine was still leaking a bit while still I'm hospital but was removed Sunday right before I was released to go home. That hole where drain is located will be the thickest and longest to heal or at least it was for me. Very true other doctors or urgent carr will not want to get involved with another doctors surgery/recovery for liability issues. As a patient and because the doctor has instructed you to wait until he sees you? And if you remove yourself, you're are pretty much taking the a risk/liability your doctor is still held responsible for a healthy recovery under his care you're his responsibility legally wise. God forbid you get an infection or side effects for removing it yourself, your doctors can easily say, it was your fault and may not qualify to be coveted under his care for that particular situation. Try to hang in there, just a few days away. It's always better to deal with pain than incur a serious infection due to discomfort. Good luck and brst wishes on your new lifestyle journey. -
Weight at a stand still
Scorpion11 replied to Amandasaouma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weight loss will come gradually, everyone is different. Trust that you will lose weight, follow all instructions and you will succeed. Your body is still adjusting to the surgery and shock. Keep strong and have faith. ; ) -
If you're not already taking, certainly helps lots to add Zinc, iron, omega fish oil and calcium in conjunction to your daily multivitamin.

Any suggestions for a good So Cal Dr
Scorpion11 replied to UrCaliGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi CaliGirl, I had my sleeve last year 11/14/13 wiry Dr Quicili in Burbank, CA. He's known to be the best of the best. Not only for WLS but as a surgeon for many other medical needs. #1 for WLS in So. Cal. Google him, I'm in Glendale and all doctors I asked about Dr Quicili knew of him and his history and all recommended him. These where doctors I was seeing for injuries, orthopedics and primary doctors, to Obgyn doctors. He performs his surgeries in your chose of hospital either St Joseph's in Burbank, which is across the street from his office building or at Cedar Sinai in Beverly Hills. I had mine at St Joseph's as it was conveinant for me and my primary doctor suggested St Joe's vs. Cedar's, she told me St Joe's was known to be much cleaner and to review infection reports to compare. Very true fact. St Joe's was awesome from the days before I had to pre-register to moment I walked in super nervous day of surgery to when I was taken into surgery room in icu until I was ready to be moved up to my recovery room, to day I left the nurse walked me our to my car(hubby driving). I felt very well taken care of and attended too. The best part was the floor I was recovering on, I knew other patients from the wls group and seeing them at Dr Q office. Felt like a family and that particular floor is designated to all wls patients and others such as hernia, gall bladder etc... So the nurses understand and attend to your needs with appropriate experience and lots of LTC and truly understand your liquid diet needs and intakes. I loved how much they knew and were able to not only comfort my pain but my emotional nerds as well. It felt like a family all around experience. Highly recommend Dr Quicili. One thing I will share is he's a super busy doctor and sometimes follow-up appt took longer than expected but well worth it. He's staff and nurses are all very kind and caring. Sleeve Surgery is the best things I could of done. Tough at first with new life style changes, but it does get better and easier month by month. No regrets!! I'd be more than glad to answer any questions. Feel free to private message me. Best wishes and good luck!! : ) -

Hello post-ops!! Congrats to everyone!! Keep up the great job!! I'm a November 24, 2013 WLS. Seeking advise on what worked for you, did you get weak/fatigue and hair loss, Any suggestions!? My progress: WLS 11/14/13 5'7 Female 47yrs old. HW 268 size tight 20 SW 266 size 18 CW 233 size 14 GW 165 I'm averaging 2 lbs per week, no exercise due to knee injury/pain. Doctor is happy with my progress. I am too, my battle is to have enough energy to function upon getting up to get ready to drive to work and get through the day. Issues I've been experiencing feeling tired, fatigue and exhausted. I eat all my water/ meals/proteins/vitamins/biotin/omega fish oil and average 600 to 900 calories daily, try to eat more to get energy levels up, helps some days. I'm 3 months as of Friday 2/14/14 and I've started losing globs of hair especially after I shampoo. So I'm washing every other day. I was expecting this may happen, but so emotionally distressing and nerve wrecking to see it come out so much so quickly. I'm totally freaked out. Praying it slows down soon. Anyone else feeling exhausted and losing your hair?? When goes the hair loss stop?? Is it growing back??!

Need Food Inspiration
Scorpion11 replied to jbryant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yogurts, hummus, chicken soups w/zucchini and carrots were my favorite during my Post-up recovery. You can eat pretty anything you can liquidfy by chewing lots. Always chose Protein choices first, really critical you get all your protein milligram in daily. My first day to be able to eat regular food landed on Thanksgiving day so I ate turkey, ham, cranberry sauce and broccoli, I was so nervous but tasted so good. I was only able to eat able 1/2 tablespoon of each so I ate that for the whole week. For Breakfast back then and now I always start with my Premier Protein ready to drink 30g of protein. Once you find what feels good to your tummy, you feel better and gets easier to choose goods -

Does anyone's chest feel weird?
Scorpion11 replied to WhoKnows's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
7/14 I will be 8 months post-up. You're not alone, I also felt the heart flutters especially 1st couple of weeks after surgery upon waking up in the morning and many times my heart just racing until I would calm myself and tell myself it was nothing. It eventually subsided but still happens from time to time. It didn't hurt either. What I have noticed is that if I haven't had a bm I get chest like pains, then I evaluate what I have eaten and his much fluids and Water did I intake and if I don't have urge to have a bm, I will drink milk of magnesium to help, and then the pain goes away and I feel better. I didn't share with my doctor during post-up visits as I found my own resolutions. I can totally relate on seeing pop for every symptom and possibly brung a hypochondriac as well, but in all honesty I'd rather be safe and healthy and listen to my body than to have something serious happen than could of been avoided. Always listen to your intuition when you're not feeling well and get seen by your doctor. Best wishes and hope the fluttering subsided. Feel free to private inbox anytime. -
Pre op side effects?
Scorpion11 replied to kammylee__'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kammylee Are you hypoglycemic or diabetic? You should contact your doctors office and let them know, you may just need to adjust liquid diet choices. When you feel shaky try drinking something sweet, dilute your Water with favorite juice such as pineapple, grape, cranberry etc, just to have a bit of sugar and adds flavor too. Or have applesauce Make sure your drinking your Proteins drinks as well. I hope you feel better and get some quick answer from your doctors office. -
Yeast infections following GS?
Scorpion11 replied to Sue Bell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great post!! 7months po and find that I have been using products for itching and yeast. A friend suggest I take probiotics OTC and eat more yogurt and it's helped. Stay away from sugars and carbs, yeast infection triggers! I haven't gone to my yearly OBGYN appointment yet, but will inquire if my WLS may be causing these symptoms. I drink the premier Protein ready to drink, so not sure if it's just to much protein or maybe my body is not producing enough of something. I will let you know what I learn. I'm somewhat excited to share with my doctor since she doesn't know I had my wls and she's one of the OBGYN lady doctors on the "The Doctor Show" maybe they can discuss this topic in there, since they have been discussing the Sleeve WLS is successful for those who are obese with hbp and diabetes, that would be me, no longer on any meds other than my Endricologist just diagnosed me with hypothyroidism and on Meds for 2 weeks. I did lose 7 lbs since on the hypothyroid meds. -
Congratulations!!! You look amazing!!! Awesome pics, thank you for sharing!! I'm 7months post-op, so far lost 47lbs HW 269 size W24 SW 244 CW 221 size 14 I can't exercise much due to injuries, but losing inches more than pounds!! Your post and pics are inspiring and motivating!!! Best wishes and keep up the great job!

I'm 7 months post-op. The stalls will come and go all the time, please don't worry about them, stay on track and focused on your meal plans, plenty of Water, all Proteins, Vitamins and exercise. Don't get discouraged, your body is still adjusting to the major surgery and trying to figure out how to handle your food intake!! If you stick to it, you Weill succeed!! But most definitely expect stalls to be part of your new life style!! I'm still a slow loser but my experience is losing inches more than pounds, for someone that's dealing with injuries and very little activity and exercise, my wls continues to be successful. I've gotten used to the stall, you will too! Stay positive and hydrated! : )

Wow!!!! I'm in shock with today's weigh in!! Friday, 6/27/14 221 My goal is 220, let's see if I can lose that 1 last pound by next week! I really think the hypothyroid med is part of my weight loss this week, but I have been drinking lots of Water and most definitely getting my Protein in, 50g daily Tmrw marks 2 wks on it I'm on this thyroid med, it could explain why my fellow November sleever's have drop double my weight! Happy for everyone!! Good luck everyone, keep up the great job and stay hydrated! : )

Friday, 6/19/14 226, no loss this week, just maintained. I was also diagnosed having Hypothyroidism started taking Levixyl 0.5mg for 1 wk tmrw Not sure what to expect or how it will impact my wls and goals. Dilemma to be contributed!! Good luck to everyone, keep up the great attitude and commitment!!! Stay hydrated : )

HW 267 SW 244 November 14, 2013 CW 226 Had some set backs with knee injury ACL, no exercise. On Tuesday 6/10/14 I was diagnosed as having Hypothyroid and started meds. Not sure if it may help shed some more weight now, but as I read all my fellow post-op Nov buddies the majority have lost at least 80 or more. The best and bright side is I'm really glad I'm officially off type 2 diabetes metaformin and high blood pressure meds, AC1 results are below 6 and my Endricologist who wasn't for my wls is now happy I did pursue my sleeve surgery. For now my goal is to still get to 170ish, but really I have accomplished my main one, which was getting off meds!! Everyone keep up the great job and looking forward to reading up on your success stories!!!
