The Nioxin shampoo mentioned 3 steps does come in a combo with shampoo, condition and leave in formula, to save cost I only buy the shampoo. You can probably find on-line as mentioned or your nearby beauty supply store? Or ask your hair stylist if she can purchase for you. It's a small bottle, as in my pic and shampoo alone could cost from $15 to $18. Bottle goes a long way though, as you only need a small drop size of dime, rub directly into scalp and it will bubble up for remainder of hair. I shampoo my hair every other day or try to stretch out as far as 3 days even if I have to put up in pony tail. ???? as I prefer to have hair down during cold season

You're welcome!! ???? my hair is still not back at 100% but that's my fault as time has gone by I'm not super good as I was to get all my 90mg of daily intake but I feel I am with food. But needs to stay on better track of all my Vitamins so went and bought those containers for the week, bought 2 one for home, keep by bed and 2nd for work to take my vitamins after I've eaten Breakfast. I fill it up on Sunday's. Try it, make sure to TRY to remember to bring home the one at work on Fridays to take back Monday's. Here are pics of the Nioxin shampoo I'm using. I had no idea this would actually come in handy for me as I was originally buying for my son because he has super dry skin and dandruff. One day on Dr Oz and researching web for hair loss, Zinc was brought up continuously and as I was showering and looked up only to realize my sons Nioxin shampoo read Zinc LOL!! I have to admit it's feels minty and tingly and super cool in scalp, during summer it's not so bad bad now during Winter it feels cold. What I do, is start my showers with washing my hair1st with my color treated shampoo since I added highlights in the summer and now lowlights during winter. Then I shampoo with the Nioxin and leave on my scalp throughout my entire shower time, rinse at end and condition for just another few minutes. I find there conditioner doesn't help my hair much because I have color. So I add an extra slab of my biologe conditioning mask and it leaves my har silky. But most importantly us to get the shampoo w/zinc into scalp for a bit. Also get your oils intakes in with all Water and Protein daily quota. For dry body skin I've been using Walgreen's Studio 35 Beauty brand called moisture recovery lotion plain or cocoa butter. It's inexpensive and keeps my skin moist and soft. Before bed I pour on under my arm, especially where our lose skin (wings) area is, around hips, tummy and everywhere else. It has helped with stretch marks along with the Vitamin e oil. The brand I mentioned is also eatable if you need vitamin e, you can place drops in your drinks/shares etc.. Highly smother all over face. When I wash face in the morning I pour on another moisturizer from Walgreen called Merlot made with grape seed oils and wine, Google it. No one believed in this product but Walgreen's took a risk and started at cost of $10 but now up to $16 to $20. I usually buy when on sale as well. Let me take a pic of those to post.

Thank you so much for all the info. I am going to get the stuff you suggested. I do feel so alone and like nobody understands so it was nice to hear I am not the only one going through this. You are welcome!! I'm glad it helped and feel the support. I hadn't been in here for a long while and came across yours as I was searching to see what others are dealing with their lose skin/rash. I felt the very same you did when I had my wls, I only shared my wls with my husband, son's and mom so I was very much alone. Especially when I was in the hospital recovering, I cried lots and thought what did I get myself into. I had to stay 2 days longer in hospital because I just couldn't drink enough and wasn't meeting my quota the doctors expect out of patiences by 2nd day. So I had to stay on the iv and until I could drink the full Fluid amount of ounces. To top it off I suffered from anxiety prior to wls so during my recovery time and feeling scared, alone and more anxious I was super scared. Luckily for me, the hospital I was in and floor I was on is only for wls or hernia patiences so the nurses helped get me through the hospital stay and gave me advise to lift me and told me I would get past all these emotions and stages. Hospital I had my also provided a religious rep and patience had option if wanted them to come body for a prayer on my 3rd day when I was told I had to stay longer I requested them and they visited my room, prayed for me and lifted my spirits. Mind you I'm not very religious. This site was fairly new when I joined, but truly helped me and so did going to the support groups from my doctors office. I posted a topic w/subject of my doctors name and gained 2 friends and became a support system for each other as well. Check for a support group in your area, ask your doctor's office or post a support group with subject line of your city. About the drunk I suggested, If you're not to sure about that many for cost on the premier Protein and just want to try, you can order online too for a six pack I believe, google it or Amazon has them too, so does the super markets but for me and my work schedule I usually order many items online unless I need right away. I go to market. Once you find which one you like, stock up and makes it easier for you to always have available and drink on schedule especially if you have work and have returned. I alway keep a yogurt at work and well the draft to go drinks I carry around every where along with other non perishable protein snacks/bars I like to eat. Just so I'm not stressing to have to go shop for and interrupt my daily scheduled meals. On weekends it's easier because I have more time to cook suck as eggs, broccoli, spinach, tuna salads, chicken etc... And also keep in mind, if you have a good blender, you can make your own Soups with your boiled fresh soups. Blend up, chicken, spinach or broccoli with chicken broth. Spinach, broccoli and asparagus are very high in protein and Vitamins. So if you juice or make your own liquified soups, look for veggies high and rich in vitamins we require. There's another brand(I will look for can't remember) that's plain Protein Powder I used to order and added to chicken broth the first three weeks. My husband would make fresh chicken Soup or beef soup and I would mix the broth with plain protein powder. Also used the broths from store, but home cooked was much tastier. I would also add to V-8 juices. Tasted great! As we tend to get tired of all the sweet shakes, I needed salty savory craving so this plain powder helped tremendously. I think I need to order another one again myself as I'm thinking about it Warm broth soups felt good to my new small tummy (Winter, my wls was 11/14/13) along with the shakes being room temperature, but the I also read many post of ppl liking and feeling better drinking them cold, so whatever feels good to you. Let me know whatever else I can do to help! ????????✌????️ -

Mdlange, it will eventually slow down and stop. It's very scary to go through this phase, be assured it will stop. Everyone's time frame is different. For me it started about 6 months after surgery and slowed down about 5 months later. Talk to your hair stylist and ask for suggestions on what sort of style/cut will help you and your areas. Tips: For bald spots their is a powder you can use to help color in scalp so it's not so viable. Joan Collin's sold one too on QVC. Search Amazon too You can get creative with dark eye shadows to your hair color. I use mascara for my gray hairs when I can't get to my stylist soon enough I had long straight hair it was a very scary sight and feeling to go through, so I decided to layer it and it helped with the balding spots. Washed at night with shampoo by nioxon for dandruff (lil expensive, but worth it) as I read it had extra zinc and when i start to see my hair start to shed again I go right back to using and it helps. Wash at night, I put a bit if mouse on, roll up in a bun, still semi-wet in the morning, I damp a bit more, blow dry hair head upside down (give it more volume) and scrunch up towards scalps, if you have it layered to style use round brush and blow dry to curl/style, flip head back upside down, lightly spray hair, scrunch again and flip hair over slight spray and your hair will feel and look fuller. ***You must get in all your required daily Protein, Water and oil. I take/drink lots of water, Biotin, zinc, Iron ( Vitron-c ) recommend by my doc they're great and help especially during menses, fish oil or take your preference of oil your Nutrionist recommended. I like to add extra butter to my scrambled eggs, or coconut oil to my drinks. Find foods like salmon, tuna in oil, sardines if you can tolerate taste are great fish on and healthy for us, avocados too Put mayo on sandwiches, just try to get your oils in, any of your choice, as much as we are still counting and watching our calories, we still need oil to help with our hair loss. This is my personal opinion, I think they need to emphasize this more during consultation before wls and tell everyone it's a must to help shed so much hair. Even my face was super dry, so to this day I go to Walgreens or your preferred store, I buy the Nature Bounty brand Vitamins as many times they have buy one get one free But I stock up on their Vitamin E-oil 30.000mg bottle, cost around $7 -$10 worth the cost and rub all over my face at night time to rehydrate my skin and also good for scars, so you can rub some on your wls scars too. Hoe this helps a bit!! It will eventually stop as you will see the new lil ones growing out too. Your hair stylist will probably see your new hair growth before you do as it tends to grow toward bottom back of head which we can see and then you will see the lil ones on top yourself. Push you hair back like a tight ponytail and you will see the new ones. Be assure it will stop and regrow!! Take good care and stay hydrated!

Suggestion only but make sure to follow your doctors instructions and contact him/her always for all inquiries, concerns, pain etc. Everyone's body is different and reacts, recovers differently. When start to fill better and you can drink or sip more, try to get your Protein drinks in. Your taste buds are out of control right now but and most protein shake/drinks will taste awful, especially the powder ones. I highly suggest Premier Protein ready to drink. I get mine at costco. I believe it's an 18 pack for about 24.99. Sometimes on sale w/their coupons. They have it in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavor a. Each drink is 16oz, 30mg of protein at I believe calories 160. By far these have been on my daily intake. I also eat the Fage yogurt daily, 8oz 0 fat and 22mg of protein. Once you start to get your protein intake in, in conjunction to making sure you can try to get in all your Water, you will feel better and energized in time. Please ensure to have your surgeon check your labs for Vitamins deficiency. After my surgery on 2nd week out, I thought I was drinking enough protein but was so paranoid about not drinking enough water I was actually over drinking, flushing my protein out tmi but urinating too much. I was finally at stage to take crushed vitamins and he recommended I take extra Iron and suggestion Brad called Vitron-C (take 1 daily but on menses 2x daily) which I can only find online Amazon and WalMart and cheap. I also needed Vitamin D3 and take 10.000mg daily. I get at Walgreen and look for sales of the smaller tablets or small gel when they have sell buy one get one free. For hair loss which is normal and will eventually come but will slow or stop around your 6/7 month out. I take the following Biotin Zinc And the iron helps for hair loss too You must also take your daily multi vitamin and Calcium daily. B12 helps for extra energy. I hope you feel better soon, be assured you're not alone and many of us have gone through many similar symptoms you're experiencing. Always check in with your doctor or his nurse. Inbox me if you'd like more info or can answer more concerns. I'm 2 Yrs out from my wls had and was not able to exercise, lost many inches but have not met my personal and desired goal, however I'm super happy have gone from size 24 to 14/12, not sure what my bmi is but I'm 5'7. Now dealing with new medical issues such as rashes from lose skin and recently went to see dermatologist and being treated for it, need it. Feeling content though. Your in my thoughts and available if you need more info. Keep strong, know you're not alone, and you are going to get past this, take everything day by day. Healthy and positive vibes going your way!! Take good care! PS Peppermint tea is the best tea go have handy for gas, tummy aches and nausea! Also have a magnesium drink available for constipation since its also part of our healing process and so much daily protein intake. I get Walgreen's brand cherry flavor or Phillips brand. But you have many to chose from I drink to cleanse 1 a month or when I haven't had a bowel movement within 3 days. Tip for me when needed is I start to get a pain towards my right side of upper tummy. -

Yeast infections following GS?
Scorpion11 replied to Sue Bell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello, hope all find you well Sorry for delayed reply. How are you doing? Did you get any resolution or suggestion from your dr? I saw my Obgyn in Jan 2015, I was still experiencing yeast infection/itching like crazy. She explain it was a due to my hormones and body chemistry change with my WLS. So she recommended to put me on super low dose of birth control to help stabilize my hormones, also strongly suggested to drink or take take probiotics, which helps with yeast/stomach issues. Well I went on the low dose birth control although I really didn't want too as I'm 48yrs old and was really concerned about high risk of heart attack, HBP as I used to have to take meds for prior to surgery but stopped the HBP meds since my WLS. 4 to 5 months later the brith control pills really did help stop the yeast and itching situation, however I caused HBP to come back and super high, worse than prior to surgery so my pcp took me off them and prescribed 25mlg once a day for HBP. Now I'm off the HBP Meds but have found the itching starting to come back. I'm eating lots of probiotic food, yogurt, cottage cheese, otc pills and it helps, but itching is still there I forgot to mention that I also at beginning of all the yeast infection and itchiness, I was also developing these itchy spots in between private part/leg, buttocks and under beast that itch really bad, I'd scratch Til raw/painful and eventual dry up but come back randomly, my pcp prescribe anti-fungal ointment like which helps a bit and they go away, my Obgyn just said to drink benedryl for itching but it knocks me out. So 1 1/2 yrs out and itchiness is sill there, not as bad but wish it would completely go away as I never had this issue prior to my WLS. Control it by using ointment or otc yeast creams. -

Have not achieved my goal. My surgery was 11/14/13. Set back, injuries. I've lost total of 55 to 60 lbs. not giving up, yet!! I'm currently weighing (fluctuates) 213/215. Goal 175 or 180. Really would just love to get below 200 at this point. Congrats to all who have been working hard to achieve their goal and all whom have accomplished your goal!! Kudos to all! -
My surgeon was Dr Quilici in Burbank, CA!!! Best surgeon and well recognized by many other doctors not related to sleeve surgery.

Milk of magnesia is a my little constipation saver!! Since my surgery I've had to do, what I call a cleansing about 2 1/2 weeks. I tend r get a upper right pain as a reminder it's time to drink milk of magnesia. It was recommended shortly after my surgery when my bowel movement didn't come regularly within 5 days out. Ensure to plan to be home after drinking or near restroom within 1 to 2 hours after drinking. For some sooner. When it hits you, it's hits. After I drink it I follow it by drinking as much Water as possible to somewhat finish my cleansing sooner so I can leave my house. Caution: if you feel urge to release gas, be very careful as it may be part of cleaning and not gas. Sorry TMI but like I said it my miracle little must have in stock all the time. Walgreen brand cherry flavor is my favorite and many times buy one, get one free or 50% off. Good luck, hope this helps and feel better. PS Oh always keep peppermint handy as well. Helps release gas and tummy aches.

Congratulation!! Great journey story!!! You look amazing!!! Is your hair still shedding? Or did it stop? I had my WLS 11/14/14, wish my story was as successful as yours, but still working on it. I still feel tired many days, my doc advised me to change my Iron Vitamins to a brand called Vitron-C. They really have helped bring my energy level up, especially during my menstrual week. I highly recommend them to everyone, I can only find them online amazon or walmart. Due to injuries I'm not able to exercise as I wishes. I've lost 50lbs and happy with what I've lost. I went from size 18 to 14. I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism in June which I've noticed I'm not losing pounds but mainly inches. Slowly but surely still losing. I really enjoyed your story, took me back down memory lane through all the good, bad and ugly moments. To this day, Im glad I did have my sleeve, best thing I could of done. I can take 3 huge gulps of Water all at once now days, couldn't be happier. Thank you for sharing your experience, good luck and keep up the great job!! You're beautiful!!! -
