Pre op diet
gohelpyourself replied to vanceheather5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my post op appointment on Tuesday. The P.A said those spasms and those feeling eventually resolve once your stomach realizes it can do the same job digesting with 80% of its power. I look forward to that day. Other thing I dislike is the feeling I have to belch and it just seems to get trapped up in my esophagus along with the embarrassing gurgling. -
15 grams of carbs/500 or fewer calories a day until I lose 100 pounds?

Great post! What type of fiber do you use? Thanks for sharing this. -

Plain Ol' miralax is a few dollars and does wonders. My nut would freak on something with that many carbs. Lol the only thing my surgeons NUT told us to always pair any carb we eat with a protein. They said always eat protein first. They did not give us any rules amount amount of carbs. As far as the miralax, I am familiar with that but I am big on plant Proteins. I also add chia seeds and flax to anything I can. -

I wonder if they do this to make their 'STATS' look good? -
Hi there: Being a nurse... doesn't your employer make you get annual physicals? They usually have height and weight documented on H&P.

That is crazy! I can see why you would be frustrated. Is the NUT employed by your surgeons office. I apologize if you mentioned that earlier. Can I recommend an AWESOME product I stumbled upon at Wegmans (grocery store). It is made by 'Nutiva' Organic Hemp Protein Hi-Fiber Superfood Protein powder, I add it to my shakes. 3 tablespoons of it has 80 calories, 4g fat (good fat), 12g carbs tho, 12g of fiber, 11g of protein. Since I been using this I have had NO problems with constipation. In fact I cannot believe how good it works in that department especially b/c I barely eat a lot of solids. The cost is 12.00 for 16 oz. This stuff is beyond amazing. Can you find another NUT? This WLS Center seems a little unrealistic. I don't want to bash them but I think their expectations are beyond unreasonable. -

I would ask your surgeons office before calling your insurance... you may say the wrong thing to the insurance... say too much. You do not want to say something that may give them any reason to deny your request for this surgery. Your surgeons billing staff prob know the ins and outs of all the insurance companies. I would hate for you to divulge too much to the insurance company and give them any reason to deny you. My insurance did not ask for that... they asked me to list all the diets I have tried in my life.

did you participate in Weight Watchers or any other programs where you were weighed in? These insurance companies are such a P.I.T.A!

This site has been a great inspiration and resource for me. Most members have been a fantastic inspiration to me. I feel as a nurse I also have some useful information to share even though I am freshly post op. I like to post encouraging words and add to something if I feel it is useful. What I don't find useful are comments that criticize a post or comment. If you do not like something a member posts... keep it moving. No one needs comments that are negative. I was told today that I 'need more coaching'.... and I am setting myself up for disaster, disappointment, self-sabotage whatever merely b/c I was inquiring members to post their progress (regarding lbs lost) in the first few months post op. I completely understand everyone progresses differently. I was merely inquiring. I'm a little excited, pardon me. So for those who feel compelled to leave a sermon on how this is a recipe for disaster please move on without imposing your two cents, it is not wanted or warranted. Thanks. P.S. That includes this post. -

thanks so much.... This post thread was fairly recent... didn't see it. How do you search topics on here so I am not annoying by asking the same questions that were recently posted? Thanks in advance. I have Independent Health... I hope they will approve the shakes. I will certainly try! -

gohelpyourself replied to vanceheather5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did really well, and still am with the shakes.. I can get them down no prob. The soft diet I am on now is a bit challenging. I can only take a couple bites without my stomach going in to spasms. I am certain it gets better but I am feeling super fatigued. Hoping I get some energy soon. I only have one week left b4 I have to go to work. -

You haven't been. You're a good one, Beladonna723. I'd like to hear the story about that forum name. Means pretty woman in Italian and it is also a drug used for GI spasms>>>LOL -

No they were not malicious.. they were misinterpreted. I just want to move on now. We have wasted far too long on this thread. Thanks for the feedback. I totally get where you are coming from and I concur. The part that sent me over the edge is the comment that read "you need coaching'..... Totally uncalled for. -

gohelpyourself replied to gohelpyourself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really am over it now. I can pick my battles wisely and I would never be intentionally malicious.... unless its warranted. Up until now I do not believe I have been. There will be members whom I enjoy their reads and responses and others who's posts make me want to slit my wrists and set myself on fire. Nonetheless... if they are allowed to voice their opinion so should I. I will put my claws away now. Rarrrrrrr. -

gohelpyourself replied to vanceheather5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I don't like it! Lol I'm paying a lot of money and enduring a lot of pain to lose weight! I better start losing soon... Talk about discouraging! I'm 10 days post op and I finally saw the scale move today! Must have been pretty overloaded with fluid and swelling. I'm so impatient too.... Everytime I get off the couch I ask my husband "am I skinny yet?" -
