I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
gohelpyourself replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look FABULOUS> So happy for you. You are a beautiful girl. Every woman should be able to rock a 'little black dress'. -
Did you get a Rx for an anti-emetic? Like Reglan or Zofran? If not call your surgeon in the am and let them know....they can call you in a Rx. Feel better.

a little concerned
gohelpyourself replied to katt1584's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your electrolytes may be off. Try some gatorade. See if that helps. What you are describing does not sound like a clot sounds more like an electrolyte deficiency. Are you taking your post op Vitamins? When you are laying in bed/couch do some ankle pumps and try to move about as much as tolerated. Feel better. -

Starting my first day preop diet
gohelpyourself replied to jlperalta1833's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There are 3500 calories in one lb. So over the course of seven days... you can do one of the following 3 things.... 1. Eat 500 calories less per day x 7 days = 3500 calories... one lb lost!!! OR...... 2. Burn an extra 500 calories a day x 7 days (through exercise) 3. Eat 250 calories less per day and burn an extra 250 calories per day x 7 days You got this! Good luck. -
Endocrinologist question
gohelpyourself replied to Lisa00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That seems like duplication of services? Why can't they just get your consent to get your records from your current endocrinologist?? Or have you make and appointment with him? Doesn't make sense. I would definitely seek clarification on this matter. Maybe your surgeon overlooked that you currently have one. -
I am only two weeks post op and they told me sips but I can and I do take several swallows of water at a time with no problem. I am damn thirsty! Is it possible to stretch your sleeve? If so, gingerly drink... no race horse chugging.

Catheter for surgery?
gohelpyourself replied to takefeline's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Really shocked at how many ppl were cath'ed. Current medical trend is not to. Just increases risk of infection (UTI) and insurances will not cover hospital acquired UTI's anymore. Anyway.. cath or no cath... I don't think you should worry. It isn't pleasant to have one but it certainly is not unbearable. In fact, I asked to be cathed day after surgery. I knew I had urinary retention and the fact my bladder was so distended was causing me to have more stomach pain. I told the nurse what I suspected and he grabbed the bladder scanner and sure enough I have 850cc's of urine in my bladder. He called and got an order to insert a catheter and I was feeling great after. They took it out the next day before I was discharged. -

My greatest incentive.... Getting into all my 'skinny' pre pregnancy clothes. I converted a small spare bedroom into a dressing room. I am obsessed with it. -

THANKS! I am obsessed with that room. There is even a bar in one of those cabinets... got the martini glasses and the shaker in it. Waiting til I can fit clothes and enjoy a cocktail then I will never leave that room. I used to be a label whore. Collected a lot of goods over the years. -
Hi Melissa: Are you taking gasX and/or an anti-spasmotic such as Bentyl? GasX helps and the Bentyl was prescribed for me along with Prevacid. If you dislike shakes how about trying to make your own with Greek Yogurt? A cup of it has over 20g Protein. Remember that your body cannot absorb more than 30g at a time so even if you took a 60g protein pill only half would get absorbed. I also been eating cottage cheese. I buy the whipped kind... tastes the best to me... don't like the chunkier ones. I am sick of everything (with regards to food) right now and I feel your pain. You are freshly post op and those spasms of pain in your belly get better. I only get them now when I either eat something I shouldn't i.e.. carbs or I am reaching fullness. I really do not feel hungry but I feel I should be eating... force of habit I guess.

I'm sticking to soft/pureed diet and very bored. I am running out of ideas of what to eat!

Yum sounds good.. I do have all those indian spices at home. I will get come cauliflower. Maybe I need some chana masala or sag paneer!
-
My surgery was on Feb. 3rd as well. I am cleared for eggs. I had 1/4 cup of eggbeaters with spinach and low fat cheddar for dinner.
-
Good idea. I will whip up some in the morning. I am so glad those spasms subsided. I am going to add you as a friend so we can compare notes/stats!!!

Hospital Asked us to be in a video
gohelpyourself replied to Taylor06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nothing wrong with a little negotiation! Afterall.... you are sacrificing your privacy/confidentiality. I would present it like "I would love to do this because it is for a good cause... I am honored to have been chosen and I do not want to make this about me But...... " Can't hurt. Maybe they can wave hospital stay. I am sure you will have to still pay surgeon and anesthesiologists. -

I have posted this suggestion in several threads. I cannot stress enough how AWESOME Organic Hemp Protein Hi-Fiber powder is. Everyone keeps suggesting drugs. This is all natural. One of THE best plant Proteins out there. Put it in your shakes. Three tablespoons is all you need. I put it in my first shake of the day. Been regular ever since and it is not painful cramping like what Milk of Mag or Mag Citrate, Dulcolax or any of those other drugs cause. I bought it at Wegmans Grocery store in health food section. Check out the website www.Nutiva.com Good luck.

Catheter for surgery?
gohelpyourself replied to takefeline's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
the surgery itself is relatively a short procedure... about an hour. My surgeon does not insert foley. HOWEVER.... I required one after b/c a side effect of anesthesia is urinary retention. I had it and I knew I was retaining and I asked to be catheterized. They removed it the next day. I had urinary hesitancy for several days after but it finally resolved.... I hope.
