    What size bougie was used?

Title of this thread should be 'There's a bougie on your sleeve'.

    What size bougie was used?

me too lol only reason I asked him was after reading posts on here and freaking myself out. You might be able to find out by requesting your medical records. When I asked him I felt like a hillbilly cause I called it a boogie then he grinned and I said ummm bogie? He corrected me and said it's actually a boozshe lol That is hilarious! I plan on inquiring about it at my 6 week follow up. I am not overly concerned but I would like to see what information he provides me with.

how long do ppl usually wait? Like a few years post op? Now I wasn't worried about the pain after the sleeve (maybe a tad) but I am scared as heck for that tummy tuck and my boobs are a train wreck after having my baby. Oye Vey!

    What size bougie was used?

Ok... I read up on it. I would have liked to have some input on what size 'bougie' they used dammit! LOL I'm such a control freak.

    What size bougie was used?

Hmmm.... where does one even stumble upon this data? Who even would think to ask? You have seriously piqued my interest. All my surgeon said was my stomach would have a 3 oz capacity. I didn't even know until recently that they use staples.

    Excited

I'm excited for you! Congrats. The more 'ready' you are... the better you do. Stay in that mindset. The pre op diet is a challenge but keep thinking of the light at the end of the tunnel.

    wheat flour?

OMG.. is everyone craving pancakes? My cousin just text me yesterday for advice on what flour to buy or recipe for healthy pancakes. I steer clear of wheat. Most wheat is genetically modified. I am italian and I stopped eating regular Pasta long ago.... I do rice pasta. It's delicious btw. Check out this recipe: http://www.fitsugar.com/Wheat-Belly-Wheat-Free-Pancake-Recipe-30467884 Now I WANT pancakes!! LOL

    help

You shouldn't open capsules. Hemp, Flax and Chia seeds are also high in Omegas. I am a big fan of plant Proteins. Another idea is topical pain creams/lotions. If you cannot tolerate taking pain meds by mouth... topical compounding pain meds are very popular these days because the medication bypasses the liver and targets the site of your pain. Ask your doctor if this is an option. They are often expensive and some insurances do not cover them because they are costly but since you have a legit reason why you cannot take the meds by mouth they may cover it for you. Worth a try. I don't know much about liquid glucosamine.

    nervous about stomach pain

OMG... I hated that pain. It goes away. I remember complaining about it at my one week follow up and the Physician Assistant said that the stomach is in shock because it has to figure out how to do same work it used to being 85% its size. Your stomach will finally adjust. I think those pains subsided by week 2 post op (for me at least). I am almost 3 weeks post op and I don't have them anymore... If you eat too much in one sitting though the restriction you will feel will be similar to those pains. Try to stop eating as soon as you feel the slightest restriction.

    High Heels....

My thighs are not flattering now so I can only imagine what they will look like after I loose a significant amount of weight. P.S. Thigh lift surgery is excruciatingly painful. Not sure I could ever go through with that. A tummy tuck and a boob lift... thats another story.

Woah... sexy legs! You are workin it girl!!! Va Va Va Voooooom!

Why is my doctor pushing for bypass?

Second Opinion is in order. The sleeve is becoming the WLS of choice. Perhaps he hasn't done that many and if that is the case.... find another surgeon. The more sleeves the surgeon has performed.. the less chance of complication (read an evidence based article on that). I wouldn't want bypass. That's just me. I do not think I would have had WLS if that was my only choice... didn't want lap band either. I am a fan of the sleeve.
  22. Make sure you write down a list of questions or you will forget. Ask what they give you for pain post op. If you will have drains. How they check for leaks (during OR or post op). Just of few questions that came to mind.

Almost 10 months out and constantly dizzy!

I was totally going to say hypotension related to dehydration would be my first guess BUT... I watch a ton of videos that sleevers post and one girl said 'weird things' happen post op. She said she had some inner ear thing happen to her and it caused her dizziness. Best bet would be to first get a set of orthostatic blood pressures taken by your PMD to rule that out first. Then if that is ok have your inner ears checked. Usually vertigo dizziness manifests like the room is spinning as opposed to hypotension which feels more like that woozy, weak, bout to pass out dizziness. Sorry, that is the best description I have before my morning nourishment. Hope you get to the root of it but in the meantime up your fluids if possible and see if that helps. Besh wishes.

    Colonoscopy

The prep is A LOT of Fluid to take in. I remember times we would prep patients for colonoscopy with dulcolax the night before and an enema in the a.m prior to the procedure. I am sure there has to be an alternative to ingesting all that prep.

    Employer exclusion question

Well, this is what happened to me - I knew I had the exclusion before I went to the surgeon for consultation. They submitted the pre-approval paperwork and the insurance company denied it. I could have gone thru the appeals process at that point. How can you appeal the claim if the surgery is excluded? It is one thing to not know there is an exclusion... your surgeon will not know unless they submit a claim BUT if you know beforehand going in that WLS is an exclusion on your policy your claim will be denied. Appealing it is a waste of time. It is like not carrying collision on your vehicle and getting into an accident and expecting the insurance company to pay for the repairs.
