    Mind hunger...

Me! I think we all struggle with this. What helped me a little was when I could advance from liquids to pureed. At least I can now introduce things like Greek yogurt (thinned with skim milk), ricotta, Jello (which I was not permitted on liquids). The sugar free popsicles in Tropical flavor really saved me - felt like a treat that i could sort of chew. Hang in there - keep your eye on the prize! It will be worth it.

    How bad is the nausea?

As you can see from reading here, it is very individualized. Mine was severe right after surgery, the meds helped. Had low grade nausea esp. the first week post-op. Occassionally still get it, now 3 weeks post-op. Have never actually thrown-up. Bottom line is whatever the level of nausea is or isn't - small price to pay for the benefit of getting sleeved. Just my opinion.

    sleep apnea

Your sleep apnea will resolve with weight loss, not with removal of the band. My pulmonologist told me that many people have sleep apnea and are not aware. He also reported that in women, if your neck is 17" in diameter or greater, and in men, 18" or greater, you have an 80% likelihood of having sleep apnea. I was advised that once I was sleeved and lost significant weight, my sleep studies would be repeated. Please don't stop using your c-pap without seeing a Dr. first. It is the silent killer. Seriously.

December sleevers 2013 just checking in!

Hey slvrsax, hang in there! I'm having the same issues you are. (Sleeved the same day) Pre-op I always drank at least 64oz. of water a day and post-op I have been struggling with this. It helps if you break the surface tension of the water with something, i.e., lemon juice, Mio drops, etc. But even with this, I'm still struggling to drink as much as I should. I believe it will get better with time. Still having some low grade nausea too - esp. in the morning. Some days are better than others. I hope it helps you to hear that someone else is going through what you are experiencing. Just be patient with your body, it will get better. Zumba is a great goal to have! If you can't do it quite yet at 6 wks. post-op, then try a bit later. Try doing it at a lower level, remember you haven't done that vigorous of exercise for a while now. Think about how good it will feel to do it with your thinner, lighter version of you!

December sleevers 2013 just checking in!

Congrats to you! I am just three weeks post-op and slowly improving. 18 lbs lost so far. Just returned to work. Still have another week of pureed foods to go before advancing my diet. One thing that has been a help to me is that my dietician indicated that Wendy's chilli is lean and I can have it as long as I puree it. That has seemed like a real treat to me. Along with my sugar-free tropical popsicles. Feeling better everyday! So excited for what's ahead!

Are You Happy That You Had The Sleeve Procedure?

I will be getting my sleeve the same day as you! Will be thinking of you - good luck! So exciting!
  8. First time posting, but just had to share. After starting this journey way back in late Aug., this week I finally received insurance approval and my surg. date is set for Dec. 16th! My goal was to get it done before year end - yay! I'm super excited. . . and a bit scared. Looking forward to starting 2014 with my sleeve and a new lease on life! Any tips, pointers, advice, and prayers are appreciated!
