Sleeping On Your Side Again?!
Misti M replied to a_gray_'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started about 5 days out. However, I did have to sleep with my pillow wedged a little under side to keep me turning to far. I can sleep on right side much better than left. I can lay on right for about 20 minutes or so with pillow but not comfortable. -
I was sleeved on 11/8 and had to spend one week on Clear liquids. I have now moved to Full Liquids. My diet consist of the following: Milk, soy milk or rice milk fruit juice Soup (blended into full liquid) frozen yogurt or sorbet (fat free) pudding or custard (sugar free) vegetable juice Cream of Wheat Yogurt Then my documents it says daily recommeneded intake is 60-70grams of Protein per day. Does this just apply to when I get the soft foods stage? If I am only suppose to eat 3 meals a day and drink 12 cups of water/liquid per day I am confused. My plan for this week was to eat the following: Breakfast: Cream of Wheat Lunch: Yogurt Dinner: Jello Drink: 1 cup of apple juice and 1 cup of almond milk (not on my list but I think it will fall under the milk) during day plus 10 cups of Water If hungry: Add in a either beef broth or tomato soup if I need salty or a sugar free pudding if I need sweet like or if for any reason I need to mix up one the above items. Exercise: 30 minute walk per day So my questions are: 1. Do I have to worry about the protein intake at this stage? 2. Does the meal plan I have look reasonable for Week 2? 3. How much is a serving of Yogurt (2 ozs)? 4. How much is a serving of Cream of Wheat (2 ozs)? (Today I was able to eat about 5-6 teaspoons full for Breakfast before I felt full) 5. At this stage do I have to worry about getting "enough" calories? If so what should be the goal?

Am I the only one that doesnt miss food/eating?
Misti M replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this was one of the biggest advantages that the pre-op diet did for me. I really learned that I don't need all that food that I had thought I was "starving to get" before I had surgery. Now I am only a into full liquids post op and I still have no interest in cheating or eating things I shouldn't. I completely plan to one day eat things and live "normal" and have "splurges" on special occassions but for the most part I am very excited about enjoying healthy versions of food in small amounts and knowing I will be full and satisfied. One of my biggest struggles was thinking about food. Thinking about what to shop for, thinking about what to cook, thinking about cooking, thinking about where to eat out.....I spent so many hours focused on meal after meal that food consumed my life. I decided I wanted to transition my family into healthy cooking without putting them on a diet (they don't need it). I found a program called www.emeals.com It has been great. Each Wednesday they send me a menu (my family has really liked all the recipes) with shopping list. I clip coupons on Thursday. On Friday I shop and hang the new menu. Now whoever is cooking (mainly me but on occassion one of the teens or hubby) knows exactly what to cook, we know all the ingredients are in the house. There is no "focusing" on food. -
Confused On Protein Consumption/meal Overview: Lot's Of Questions For Pros :)

Thank you all so much for taking the time to give me the comments. They have really helped. I ordered samples packets from unjury and Bariatric Advantage today. In the meantime, I went to The Vitamin Shoppe and got some sample packets and Isopure to try until those sample packets get here. (My breakfast Protein was gross) So I will re-adjust to think - get in my protein. Add Water to equal my liquid requirements for the day and then if I am hungry I can add in the other things from my list that I am able to have. I also joined My Fitness Pal. I will add you Tink22-sleeve when I get that part down. :-) I will call my Doctor on Monday to see why they did not have Protein drinks on my list. So frustrating if this slows me down. Ironically, yesterday was 1 first day of eating something and I did not loose 1 stinking pound. (I know - don't weigh every day, don't stress over it....BUT I have to say that I am building a really unhealthy relationship food that is a complete 180 degrees. I don't even want to eat anymore... LOL) Thanks again for all your help! -

I live in Florida and we visit Disney often. Over the past few years, Disney has done a really good job of making healthy choices available. There are tons of resturants that have options that will work. Disney even has a special email and phone number. You can call a cast member and tell which parks you will be in on which days and they will help you find options that will work with you. SpecialDiets@DisneyWorld.com, or 407-824-5967 Hope this helps -
Having A Hard Time Getting Liquids Down =(
Misti M replied to beachbaby29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 11/8. I have a hard time with Water but can down apple juice. I drink only 1 cup a day because I don't want to push it but every day it is a struggle. I convinced myself that I must drink 1 cup every hour I am awake to meet my 12 cups of liquid per day. I thought I might conisder just setting an alarm for when to drink and eat. This way I can get it all in when I am suppose to until it becomes natural... Good luck to you! -
Broth Question - Liquid Stage
Misti M replied to Misti M's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you... I just wanted to make sure that I had not lost my mind. Thanks for the quick replies... -
Okay, so I had broth at the hospital. It was chicken and I tasted 1 tsp full and was like YUK. I came home from hospital (had surgery 5 days ago) and took a bite of beef broth on day 3. It tasted so dang good (salty heaven), that I would not eat it at all. I was afraid it must have been the wrong thing. I bought the beef bouliion granuales and hubby mixed it for 1 cup of Soup. I don't want to mess up eatings. As of now, I am drinking Water, apple juice (love apple juice) and also a Jello a day. Not hungry so that is not the problem. However, my question is what kind of boullion is okay for this part of diet?

Confession- I have no idea what hungry feels like....
Misti M posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I must confess that I don't think I have felt "hungry" in years....Not even sure if I know what it is. I have been on the pre-op diet for 14 days and my surgery is Friday. I have not felt hungry once. Don't confuse that with I have not wanted to eat food but honestly no hunger. No cheating yet either! ( I have been freaking over a stall for days in my pre-op though that if I were not preparing for a surgery would have been enough madness to make me eat some nacho cheese dorritos and bean dip!) Sadly, the more I read and try to prepare for the days after surgery I have realized I NEVER eat because I am hungry. I am bored, stressed or it just that time of the day to eat a meal. I would often claim "I am starving (Ha and shame on me)". I don't even know what hunger feels like. Now, indegestion - heart burn and bloated, I get those feelings. But what does being hungry feel like and will I honestly know when I am full post surgery? -
Things I will NOT miss about being fat.

That feeling when it's cold out and my husband offers me his jacket and I refuse it because well, it would never have fit anyways. -
I am on DAY 11 of my Optifast liquid Diet pre-surgery. I have my surgery this Friday, November 8th. When I saw the Doctor on Day 7, I had lost 7 lbs since I started the diet. Since then, it really seems to have stalled. I am exercising 30 minutes a day, drinking at least 6 bottles of Water (16.8 ozs each) and trying my hardest to drink all 5 shakes that I need to eat each day before 6pm at night. NO CHEATING! THe only thing was I had a allergy cold a few days ago and did not walk for 3 days. It was just nice to see the scale going down and getting a little worried that it stopped. Anyone have similiar results or advice?
