    3 Months out, vitamin check

I'm answering now just to follow the topic so I'll remember later - when I get home from work, I can tell you what's on my 3 month lab sheet. I just had a nutritionist visit today and asked about switching some of my Vitamins to tablets since most of them are kind of gaggy and she said not for at least 6 months, that all the chewable stuff absorbs better. You may have better luck with your team, though!
  2. First post-op nutritionist meeting. She wants me closer to 80 grams of protein. This is the point where I stomp my feet like a kid and pout, "But it's HARD!", lol

Yep. Mine went from 60g to 80g after surgery, too. It took me a couple of months to get there. At a year out, I can get 60g any day, 70g most days, and 80g a couple of days a week.

New Whey makes a liquid protein that you can add to your favorite drink that has 42 grams of protein. They come in many different flavors!!

Thanks! Maybe I just need to start earlier in the morning. I seem to run out of time to eat!

  3. @@heynowkc, Pork is the one meat I've been consistently able to keep down no matter what - maybe your theory is right! Even lean pork roast stayed down with no issues for me.

Anyone own a chevy spark or honda fit?

Thinking about a new car. Looking at the 2015 FIT and 2014 or 2015 Spark - anyone here own either of these and have an opinion? Thanks!
  5. Heading to Target to grab a Fitbit Zip. No sense in getting the more expensive one until I know I'm going to really use it!

Anyone own a chevy spark or honda fit?

I feel myself being swayed, lol!

Anyone own a chevy spark or honda fit?

Thanks! I drive a tiny Yaris hatchback now, and was stunned to see that the Spark is even smaller. The price isn't THAT different, but I'm mentally struggling over that extra few dollars
  8. For those of you who were fortunate enough to be able to come off of blood pressure medication post-op, what was your BP running when the doctor made that decision? Did they wait until it was dipping below normal?

    Stopping BP meds?

I'm a little scared of that, too - I got my prescription cut down and I WANT off of the meds, I'm just worried about it going back up again. The doc said not everyone's HBP is totally weight related and coming off completely might not be an option, but I'm holding out hope!
  10. I want a damn salad.

LOL. I was like that. Had my first one at 6 weeks.

I nibbled lettuce on Friday, but I'm technically not clear until NEXT Friday. I'm itching for it, lol.

    Favorite type of exercise?

So far, I like the NuStep at the gym, and the circuit weights

    pureed food! baby food?

I was mentally put off by it, but once I started pureeing stuff that I knew I liked the taste of anyway it wasn't so bad. Wound up being tickled just to not be eating something sweet . As for the baby food, I tried a few kinds since I thought it would be easy but all of it was disgusting, even the fruits and veggies!

    Struggling w/ post diet

::HUGS:: That sounds about right. I didn't start purees until about day 10 and it was tough then - if it's causing any pain you might want to take a step back to full liquids for a day or two. Otherwise, one day at a time. It definitely gets better!!
  16. Boss took us out to lunch - I was full off the meat from a sandwich alone :). And found out I can eat lettuce - took a few bites and it was WONDERFUL!

    I'm kinda disappointed

I don't know if I'll ever LIKE exercise, but I'm coming to find that doing it first thing in the morning (before my brain has a chance to say, "hell no") is helpful. By the time you realize what you did, you're done!

    Pain beneath incision

I wasn't cleared to do anything abdominal until I was cleared to do weights at the 6 week mark, but for about the first 3-4 weeks I had pain in a similar spot. Freaked me out a bit, until the surgeon explained that they come in at an angle and the "inside hole" wasn't in the same place as the "outside hole". Still worth calling the doc and seeing what they say, just in case something weird is going on! Good luck to you
  19. My intestines are a problem. Nothing passes through, too much passes through...I really couldn't complain about that anywhere else.

    Weight lifting

I got cleared at 6 weeks

    Feeling hot!

I have no idea, but I wanted to pop on and say, "HI!" to another MD'er . Alas, I'm one of the freezing ones.

    Sublingual B12

Thank you all! There are some great suggestions here. As soon as I finish choking down what I have (hate to waste) I've got a good starting point for finding something else.

    Counting this as a success

I can't wait to make my own burger - it needs lettuce and tomato, though, so I'm holding out until I'm cleared for raw veggies. Like a treat for going 9 weeks without my favorite food
  24. I love McDonalds. And Wendy's (and not for the chili and salads). I don't care what anyone says. I know, I know, it's garbage with no redeeming qualities, but it TASTES good and it's comfort food for me. Tonight, i left work frustrated. Ran an errand for a friend who's being weird right now, then got lost on the way home. I wanted to stop for a burger more than anything you could possibly imagine. I didn't, though. I went home and ate fish. Just wanted to pat myself on the back, lol.

    Cooking for one

One little thing I've found that helps is to pick a grocery store with a great salad bar, and get your fresh veggies from there. It's hard to find them not packed in portions we can't use up fast enough unless you go to a farmer's market or something otherwise.
