Addiction rearing its ugly head
Miss_T replied to jdmama911's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I really hated to see this post I quit smoking 2 years ago because my son was diagnosed with asthma. Although I didn't not directly smoke in the same room as him or around him, the smoke was on my clothes and was affecting his breathing when he hugged me! I had no idea that could affect him just being on my clothes. I threw the cigarettes straight in the trash on the way home from the doctor and stopped and bought a electronic cigarette and used it for one month. Let me tell you it helped a lot! It was more the habit than anything. Every time I felt like I wanted to smoke, I took a few puffs off of it. I loved smoking and honestly would still be smoking today had it not been for my son. I knew all of the affects on my own health that it had but I just didn't care. I am so incredibly glad I quit and wish I had done it long before. I was 27 when I quit and had smoked since I was 13 years old! I really hope you kick this addiction in the rear! Good luck! P.S My cross addiction has been shopping! -
Last week my legs were really achey and all of a sudden they started tingling and going numb. I went and had lab work done and my potassium was low. They gave me 5 days of potassium pills. Has anyone else had this issue since being sleeved?
-
Yes! and I make mine with a dream whip icing which consist of dream whip and sugar free vanilla pudding. It is sooo good.

My surgeon is 2 hours away so he had me go to the local ER to get the tests done and there for they would not give me any suggestions past writing me a 5 day script. Now I am expected to just sit around and wait until my next check up in December. I thought If I could control it by diet until then, I may be okay.

I made a sugar free Jello cake with Sugar free dream whip icing for a relatives birthday. It is my absolute fav kind of cake. I had one sliver...after all it was sugar free

I found the premier shakes at Sams Club. Bought 2 cases of them pre surgery and after surgery YUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
-
I have been wanting to try a juicer. I will definitely be looking into this! thanks

I guess other then bananas I don't know what I should be eating that will help my potassium levels.

Oh My this post made me literally laugh out loud while sitting in my office ALONE. I have a tank top one but was always curious about the full body shaper. I think I will give it a try but I am quite sure as I am trying it on I will remember this post and definitely have to let out a chuckle or two!

When do the mood swings go away?
Miss_T replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This post made me sad. I have not had any depression since surgery. If anything I have gotten a heck of a lot happier. Immediately after surgery I did have spouts of crying fits. I actually cried once because someone drank all of my skim milk. HAH! No crying over spilled milk or in my case NO milk. I struggled with depression for many years in the past and I'm finally at a point in my life where I do not feel depressed. Like a normal person I do have my down dates and moods. Anyways, I hope you find something to make you feel better! -
I started a new work out and Saturday it KILLED me. My leg muscles are screaming still today. No pain no game tho right!

After reading this post yesterday I ordered the syntrax double cookie I think its called. I really hope I like it! I did not like the premire shake at all.

When searching for a protein drink my dietician makes me use the 5-10-15 rule. no more then 5 grams of fat, no more then 10 grams of carbs, and at least 15 grams of protein. Let me just say there aren't to many choices that meet this! All the good ones have at least 20 or more carbs I have found.
-
EXACTLY! I have been reading all of these pre op posts about the drinks and I was thinking to myself oh my all the wasted money! I did not like any of the ones I liked and loved before surgery. After surgery they made me gag and I could not force myself to get them down. If I was able to drink thru a straw I may be able to suck them down quickly but since a straw is out of the question, I have not found one protein drink that I actually like AND meets the guidelines that my dietician set for them except for the CVS brand whey protein powder. Does anyone else have the 5-10-15 Rule when drinking protein?

I have to take a probiotic also. I could not eat or drink anything at first without feeling so sick. After my doctor had me start taking it, I've had no issues with it. -

Am I the only one that doesnt miss food/eating?
Miss_T replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am with you! I love not being able to eat much. The fact that I cant eat much makes me way less picky also. I eat what I need to for nutrition and eat enough the right amount and I'm done. I do not have cravings for junk food or all the unhealthy food that I used to eat. -
I still find myself going to the bigger sizes to try stuff on. Then I get upset and depressed because none of it fits. After that I try something on that is actually my size and I feel like I'm squeezing myself into clothes that don't fit and then again I get depressed and upset. I hope these feelings get better.

Way to go! I wish I wasn't a obsessed weigher but I am . I need to just have someone hide the scales from me!

Check with your doctor! My doctor cleared me after 3 weeks to do any exercise I wanted. Cardio, weight lifting, any of it. I LOVE les mills pump!

I have always been big the majority of my life. I am 29 now and I missed out on a lot of stuff in my teens and 20's because I didn't feel comfortable doing them. I secluded myself from people a lot. If this surgery had been around back then, id have jumped at it. I applaud you for taking a step to change NOW rather then later. There will be people that look down on you for it but you have that at any age. I have people that judge me on it now also. I don't care. I did what I had to do. Good luck to you!

At week 4 I had a stall of only losing 1 lb a week for 2 weeks. I went insane. But I was doing everything right and eventually I pushed through and now I'm losing 1-2 lbs a day and im 9 weeks out today.
