December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

This must be "come clean Monday". Thanks so much to BestYet2Come for sharing her last month's results. I had a similar experience and most certainly take full responsibility for it. I did find also that I was able to maintain my weight loss and was actually able to lose 3 pounds through my month of living dangerously. I got myself back on the beam on July 1 and am very grateful for the 4 pounds I have lost since then. I still have a long way to go and the posts you all share each week are very inspiring and motivating to me. Thank you so much. HW 285 SW 266 CW 222 TPL 63 TPG 145 Rock on!

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

HW: 285 SW: 266 CW: 227 Wahoo! Another week of 2 pounds this week and a total of 58 pounds lost! It's been a fun week to see the scale move. I increased my protein to at least 80 a day and I feel confident this has made the difference. I found Health Wise hot chocolate and it's easy and delicious so I'm having a couple of cups a day. At 15 grams of protein and only 80 calories, it's a real go-to for me. Have a great week, sleevers! You all ROCK!
  4. I'd like to ask your help. I am only getting in 600-800 calories a day. I find that amount satiates me but I need to add about 200 calories each day to move further away from starvation mode, trying to jump start my metabolism. I am meeting goals for Protein, fat and carbs with very low to little sugar in my diet. Do any of you have suggestions about what I might add to my food intake each day to add 200 healthy calories? I find I am only able to consume 3-4 ounces of protein at a time---- my first thought was to add a larger portion of protein but don't want to make myself sick or stretch out my sleeve. Thanks in advance for any advice you can share!

    Bad knees

I am 55 and had a severely arthritic hip prior to surgery. My orthopedic surgeon agreed to a total hip replacement 6 weeks following sleeve surgery. The six weeks between surgeries was very painful without any meloxicam. I continued to use pain killers during this time. The surgery was a blessing- a huge one. The pain I felt after the surgery was entirely different than prior and far more tolerable. I am sure the weight I lost prior to hip surgery and the weight I've lost until now has helped with my recovery. Only downside is that I was not able to exercise well until about 4 weeks ago so my loss has been slower than I would have liked. Small price to pay. Good luck to you and I encourage you to have those bad knees replaced. You have lots of life ahead of you so give yourself as much an advantage as you can!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

So sorry to hear fatigue has kicked back in on you. I have had tremendous fatigue as well and it comes and goes. Although it sounds counterintuitive, I find that when I start my day with some exercise, it keeps the tiredness at bay. Sometimes I am not able to do as much as other days but I get something done and it helps. I have also been amazed at how dehydration affects me. Make sure you are getting in all of your water--- super important. Hang in there!

I have a question for you on the hair loss...are you finding it coming out in certain instances, or can you just put your hand in your hair and pull it out? I've been concerned about the potential for hair loss, but I am not sure if it is something you see in your brush, or if you can just pull it out with your hand. [/quote In the morning when it is wet, I see a lot of hair in my brush. We are trying to figure out if it is my thyroid or due to the surgery (maybe lack of protein).. I hope you don't mind me weighing in on this but it has been one of my big concerns, too. I have very fine hair as it is so any loss is alarming to me. I started losing hair right at the 3 month mark, like everyone said would happen. I don't have it coming out in my hand but my brush is full every day. I've already shortened the length of my "bob" and hope that will do. I am taking Biotin twice a day and get at least 50 gm protein each day but trying to get in 60+. Am able to on some days but not all. Six weeks after the VSG surgery, I had another major surgery, total hip replacement. So, I probably have a double whammy with the effects from anesthesia--- my experience might be more pronounced than others'. My hairdresser has me using a 3 part regime from Aveda called Invati. I hope it's going to help out. All in all, it's really not as bad as I was expecting but I think I've still got 1-2 months to go.
