    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I keep reading about an abdominal binder being used after surgery. Any feedback on this from those who are post-op? Or have any of your surgeons/nurses said to expect this? It's a bit of a new idea to me so I'm trying to wrap my head around what to expect. Thanks!

Don't even think that what she said was about you. You are showing courage, making positive decisions about your future and you are giving yourself the option of a much healthier, happier and longer life . She is ignorant about this whole journey to wellness, she is jealous of your bravery to make such a substantial change in your life, she doesn't have have the self confidence to make this kind of decision for herself. You don't own any of her perspectives or dismal outlook. You are strong and you can do this. Perhaps when she sees your success in the coming weeks and months she will see you as the inspiration she needs to take this plunge for herself! She's just not ready and your determination is likely a scary mirror in which she is reflecting her current condition. Feel great about YOU!
  3. Have any of you used Essential Oils during you weight loss? Imam wondering if you find Frankensece helpful? Or perhaps some of the citrus oils a good way to flavor your water?

Using Essential Oils In This Journey

Good to hear your ideas. I use On Guard as well but hadn't thought of using it on incisions. I use a really good Anti Stress Blend that I know will be well used as I recover from surgery and have those days that are a little edgy. I, too, am pre-op with surgery 4 weeks from tomorrow. I have a 2 week pre op diet so I'm going to start tomorrow on a probiotic cleanse (doTerra) to make sure I have any candida/yeast infection clear before surgery. I'm just trying to be in as good health as possible before all of this starts. Would love to hear any of your other oil uses and ideas, especially on the issue of hair loss-- that kind of freaks me out. I have used a Davines product called Energizing Superactive that is a scalp treatment for thinning hair and I found it to be an easy and effective treatment. I will probably get this again. Their products have super ingredients so I will use these while my body is going through this change.

    Barium Swallow Tomorrow..ugh!

I didn't have a bad experience with the barium swallow test. It certainly wasn't the best thing I've ever tasted but it wasn't to the point of saying horrible. It's 15 minutes long--- we can do that! Interesting that it caused diarrhea ---- I was a little constipated for a couple of days. Don't let this freak you out. We're all strong and capable -- don't sweat the small stuff!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I have my date! December 23--- Christmas in the hospital? Seems fitting since I see this whole journey as a gift to myself. I feel like I'm off the sidelines now that there are so many things to do toward a specific date. Yahoo!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Approval came today from Anthem-- only took them 5 days but seems like forever. The scheduler is a guerrilla about giving out dates so I am waiting to hear when this will take place. Still hoping for December. I have been reading your posts and want to thank you all for sharing information I am finding enormously helpful. Happy Friday!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

New to this site and am so happy to find this refreshing venue for positive discussion . I had initial consult with surgeon last Friday. Upper endoscopy and NUT consult on Thursday. Completed 4 surveys for Psych to day with his appt next Tuesday. Blood work day after tomorrow so I am hopeful all will be submitted to insurance by end of next week. Was told to expect about 2 week wait for approval from Anthem BCBS. I am so hoping for a December date. I need a hip replacement badly but need to lose some weight before Ortho will perform surgery. Just an added dimension of stress but am enormously happy to have this journey started. Thanks for all of the encouragement! I am having surgery in Greensboro , NC with Dr Layton
