Good for you!! You look (and must feel) GREAT!! -
Did you keep it a secret?

Yeah my sister just was having a teary telling me she didn't want me to do it. We're both heavy but she's never had the desire to lose. She says she has a 'bad feeling'. I think she just wanted me to hear her concerns. -

I'm a pretty private person so I've told only 3 close friends, my sister, and have to tell my parents today. I'm scheduled for surgery on Tuesday. Not looking for award to the conversation tonight with my folks - which to be honest I wouldn't be doing if my sister wasn't pressuring me to do so. I'd rather tell them after it's done to avoid the drama. I know my sister isn't really on board but has said her part and then left it at that. I think my dad is going to be shocked and think it unnecessary and my mum will carry on about it, and then tell everyone with two ears that will listen even tho she will be asked to respect my privacy. Sigh. All that aside I'm really happy about my decision and understand that I'm sure I will have to share with others at some point but hopefully not straight away! -

Yeah Kellie is so right about the pain meds. I was only on panadol with in hospital and out. The only reason I went to mum's is we have a 47kg bulldog and he loves to play to much. Anyway I think ur list sounds about right for ur "food" lol. Just as long as u follow the plan that ur surgeon set out for u, u'll be right. I had lots of problems with plain Water so cordial was my life saver!! But now I can only drink my drinks if they are ice cold. But others can't drink it cold. So just see how u go. What day to u have ur op? Tuesday next week! I'm pumped now but will prol be nervous as anything by Monday! Just trying to get everything organized so I can come home ASAP and recover in my own home! I'm having surgery at QEII so hoping the public hosp isn't too scary!! -

Hi and best wishes for your op. I drove within a couple of days if being discharged after 3 nights. Felt fine at home and didn't need any meds except panadol. Didn't even touch pain meds filled at hospital so they were a waste of money. Have plenty if Fluid varieties in hand including clear broths you can heat. Enjoy the wonderful journey you are about to embark on. I am 18 months post op and have lost 37kgs. Loving life and much healthier. Thanks Kelliv! There's so much info about some people being in massive pain and others recovering really quickly so I was just confused! I know there is a thread about what to have but I'm shopping this weekend and planning for diet cordials, juice(although i worried about the acidity), soups/broths, yoghurt and maybe some fruit smushee things. Already have tons of diet jelly. Any other suggestions?I also read somewhere that Optifast is hard to drink post surgery because it 'swells'? Does that sound right to anyone? -
Thanks

Feb 4 with Dr Greenslade, Brisbane! QEII Hosp.. -
Can anyone recommend a reasonable priced Surgeon Brisbane (No private health)
Soontobesleeved replied to AnonBrisbane's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi AnonBrisbane - I'm seeing dr Greeenslade who is based at Greenslopes. Initially I was booked for surgery there, but have ended up at QEII next week due to issues with my PHI coverage. Pretty much the same costs as at Greenslopes with PHI but in the public system. His website is pretty explicit re costs - Brisbane Bariatrics. Good luck! -
Thanks Alex - stoopid question but my display name is not the same as my username is it? I cant find the username in my settings anywhere... I log in on the web using my email...

Any February 2014 Sleevers?
Soontobesleeved replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ps anyone still waiting to tell family/friends? I've told my close friends and my sister... But still to tell my parents. Planning to do it this weekend before my op, but just hate the thought of having the convo... I would much prefer to do post op, but my sister (not a fan of the idea) wants me to do it before hand. I'm not overly worried about their approval but my mum is a drama queen and won't be able to keep it to herself. I'd just rather keep this decision to myself and not widely public. Anyone had similar experiences? How open are you all being with your choice to have surgery? -

Hey Charlieblue - I got super nervous this weekend too! Someone asked me about pain relief post op and I hadn't even thought about it!! I also got on the scales after a week of Optifast and had lost 4.5kgs... and then I thought maybe I can just do that instead of surgery. But I had a reality check after putting away the groceries and remembered how easy it is to just give in to old habits. Would be great for all of us February 3 sleeves to keep updated on progress post op!! -

Thanks everyone for the advice! I think I should be ok - pre shop + online delivery!! What sort of prescriptions do you think I'd need to have filled on discharge?ni hadn't really thought about that... I've heard people talking about nexium and I guess maybe pain relief? I hadn't considered pain meds until the weekend, what sort of pain relief do you need post-operative? -

Hey guys- just looking for some advice, I'm having surgery next week and just wondering if you can remember how you felt on discharge? I live alone and I'm hoping to go to my place (rather than having to travels to my family about an hour away). Dr seems to think it should be ok. Also how long til you all felt ok to drive? It's the one question forgot to ask - as to how long before that's ok... -
Can anyone who has surgery with Dr Greenslad give me any tips on QEII?? I'm booked in for just over a weeks time, and just wondering how the post op experience will be... Hate the idea of staying in hospital for any longer than necessary...

Thanks Kelliv and Merry. I'm in Brisbane (southside) seeing Dr Greeenslade. I think I just got a bit of a shock when the date for surgery was brought forward prior to seeing the dr for the first time! I've talked to someone today who has been thru this process who reminded me of the reasons why I chose to explore this option originally! Feeling much better now! Looking forward to more info after Monday but assuming I'd need to start pre-op diet straight away! -

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum as a member but have been reading up on all of your journeys for the last few weeks. I made the decision to explore surgery recently, got a referral from my GP and made the appointment to see the surgeon about a month ago. Originally when I made the appt to see the surgeon (next week Oct 28th) the receptionist suggested I book a surgery date for the earliest place available which was February.....but they have called today's and asked if I would be interested to bring forward the surgery to mid-November. So I'm kind if excited but also got a bit scared as as well! Does anyone have any great advice on questions I need to ask the surgeon for Monday? Thanks in advance!
