Special K Protein Water? Fiber?
jallsop replied to MB40buf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know anything about Special K Protein Water (just watch the sugar, I know their shakes are loaded) but when I was first post op (and even now) I liked/like drinking Isoure protein water. It is similar to Gatorade in the sense that it comes in different flavors and the taste is similar but it is high protein, low sugar. I actually will drink 1/2 a bottle a day and cut it w/ G2 (half Isopure and 1/2 G2). Good luck! -
smoking stimulates your gastric secretions which in turn could affect your band and possibly cause erosion.

30 days of blood thinner shots post op?
jallsop replied to Gammy10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have a history of blood clotting disorders, AFIB or are you bedbound/immobile? 30 days seems quite long for someone without any history or pre-existing medical conditions.... -
Huge Emergency Issue. Proti-Diet liquid protein is NOT vegetarian/kosher and my surgery is Monday!
jallsop replied to JerseyCityGal's topic in Food and Nutrition
how about Isopure clear liquid drinks. come in a variety of flavors. I drink 1/2 of one every day since my surgery for extra Protein. NO IDEA what the ingredient are, just know they are loaded w/ protein. -

After having a Sleeve you won't have to live without carbs....everything in moderation once your healed. Some people can tolerate a larger variety of foods than others, really depends on the person. Good Luck with your decision

Do you feel you are getting enough Protein and fluids? Are you working out too much and not getting enough calories? Are you not working out enough?

I am 3 weeks post op and just had my first episode of vomiting today, due to a GI bug that is plaguing out home. Nasty!! I felt a lot of pain in my mid chest between my breasts when vomiting. It stopped hurting when I was done, I don't think I hurt anything. Anyone have any experience with this unfortunate event...???

How much weight did you loose in the first 4 weeks?
jallsop replied to willow13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 3/4. I am loosing a pound per day. I am not eating or drinking enough for sure. I'm trying... -
A lot of people are turned off by the Isopure because of the taste/after taste. Someone here recommended halfing it w G2 which is fantastic. I drink 10oz everyday now to get my protein in.

so confused and upset at week 2 with weight loss
jallsop replied to liguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery the same day u did. I came home from the hospital weighing 16lbs more than I did the day of surgery due to all the IV fluids. I was 236 DOS, 252 day of hospital d/c and at 2 wks out I am 221. I have been on liquid diet w some puréed food but I really haven't eaten much. I am really struggling to get my protein and fluids in so congrats to u!!!! The one thing that struck me about what u wrote is all the exercise u are doing. I haven't even been cleared to exercise yet, see my surgeon Wednesday for 2 wk postop. Just today I went to the gym for the first time and just walked the treadmill at 2.5 for 30 min. Just be careful and I'm wondering if the extra exercise and few calories being taken in could actually be working against u. Well I wish u only the best of luck! This sure is a bit of a challenge to figure out, isn't it!!??? -
3 weeks out...struggling!
jallsop replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What flavors did u mix? No I haven't tried miralax but I will this week! I have tried 3 different flavors of Isopure, but there are a total of 6-8 flavors. There is Grape Frost which I halfed w/ Grape G2, a red one that is like fruit punch that I halfed w/ Fruit Punch G2 and a yellow one (Pineapple/Orange/Banana) which I also mixed w/ fruit punch G2 ( I would have used orange or lemon/lime had I had some). I can't even tell you how much it improves the taste. The Isopure bottles are 20oz total so one bottle lasts me two days, I take 10oz of Isopure and 10oz of G2 and mix in a large water bottle and sip all day long, just keep adding ice. Hope this helps! -
I'm a registered nurse and my job is very physical and I am on my feet non stop. I am off for 5 weeks post op. Good Luck

Hi Molly, I am 11 days post op and on full liquids as well. I have been doing mostly thinned creamed Soups, thinned mashed potatoes, bites of yogurt and those God awful Protein shakes. I am definitely not getting enough protein, working on it though. I have been adding non fat powered milk to some things for extra protein but it changes the taste. I have unflavored Protein powder I could add but I eat such a small amount of the foods that the protein never really adds up. I am drinking Isopure as well, diluted of course with G2 (yuck otherwise!!!!). What have you been doing for full liquids, looking for some new ideas...Thanks and congrats

3 weeks out...struggling!
jallsop replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have u tried miralax for your constipation? Works great in my opinion. Also, I mixed Isopure with G2 today and it is actually tolerable. Also, I started purée today so I took cream of chicken soup and diluted with water, strained it and ate 1/2 cup with 1/4 cup fat free dry milk mixed in for protein. Took my 2gm protein soup and made it 10gm with the dry milk. Always trying... -
Milk of magnesia for constipation
jallsop replied to sleevie.wonder's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are u still taking narcotic pain med? I am 8 days post op, I take colace twice daily and miralax as needed. Careful with MOM because it can cause abdominal cramping. Miralax works wonders, consider giving it a try. Good luck! -
3 weeks out...struggling!
jallsop replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for starting this thread. I am 8 days post op and really struggling to get in my protein. I am suppose to get 70-80 a day, today I got shy of 50. I tried Isopure for the first time and wow, for me, is was nasty. I'm going to try halfing it with G2 tomorrow. I have the Unjury powders, I'll try those too. I am sooooo sick of protein shakes, I keep changing brands to see if that helps but not much. Good luck to us all!! -
Why didn't anyone tell me it was going to be this hard?
jallsop replied to uscbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 days post op as well and you are for sure not alone. My pain seems pretty well managed with my new friend Oxycodone and Tylenol in between. As far as "eating", I am having a hard time getting all my Protein in for sure. I don't have nausea anymore but I have absolutely not desire to eat/drink anything. I am suppose to get 70-80mg protein a day which would be about 4 shakes a day....yeah right! Yesterday I got in one and today I have managed two. I'm worried about being malnourished and/or dehydrated so that is what I really need to work on for the next few days. I found that when I am sitting in a recliner my shake really does not sit well so I have to sit upright to make sure it goes down OK. I feel like I am CONSTANTLY sipping on those damn shakes, they are getting real old, real quick (between the 2 week pre op diet and now post op....ugh). But anyway, we can do this! Do what works for you, take it slow, and know that everyone is different so try not to compare. If you have true concerns about how you are healing, nausea, etc....call your doctor for their advice. Good Luck!!!! -
Congratulations! Keep us updated as to how your doing. I was sleeved yesterday and still in the hospital until tomorrow. So excited and feeling great!! Glad things are going well for you.
