    I need motivation!

Hi Bayougirl, If you want, we can be "lapband pen pals/motivators". I too, have fallen off the wagon, so to speak lately. I was banded a year ago and lost close to 50 pounds, but my band was too tight and I started throwing up EVERYTHING I ate. I was miserable. I had my band partially, but substantially unfilled about a month ago, and I've gained close to 10 pounds in a month....I am miserable. I have no restriction, no willpower, after being able to eat so many of the things I haven't been able to eat in the last year...I'm just going crazy. I'm going to try to get back on track starting tomorrow and would love it if we could e-mail our progress back and forth to each other if you are interested. Let me know. You can e-mail me at cparisat29@aol.com if you'd like. Good luck to you, and I hope we are able to get back on track. I DON"T WANT TO GO BACK to how I was before. I feel so much better at a healthier weight.
  2. I got my second fill yesterday. The first time, I felt nothing as he was filling the band, but it was weird having him blindly poking to find the port. I thought maybe that was to be expected for the first fill. This time, he poked at least 20 times until he found it, and even though he gave me an injection of lidocaine, IT HURT!! I felt like he was poking the needle through my stomach or intestines or something!! He finally got it, but I was traumatized. I thought they were supposed to be looking at what they were doing using a fluoroscope or ultrasound or something, not just blindly poking and prodding until the hit the port!! It seems pretty reckless and dangerous if you ask me. Has anyone else experienced this, or what are your thoughts on this subject? I think I want to request that the fill be done in the radiology department of the hospital so that they can see what they are doing.....

The day after the second fill

Yesterday, I got my second fill. I TOTALLY have restriction now. I can barely even drink chocolate milk this morning. I've had a few sips of apple juice and water and chocolate milk since yesterday at noon, and I am not hungry. My 10cc band is now filled with 6cc of saline. Dr. Burleson did an agressive fill yesterday in hopes of jumpstarting my weight loss. I hope it's not too tight. The last fill gave me pretty good restriction for a few weeks, but after that, I didn't feel super restricted. I'll give this thing a week to see what happens. Hopefully the swelling will go down and I will be okay. I'm super excited about getting healthy again. I already have more energy. I weighed 218 this morning! I"m on my way down again after a frustrating month of gaining 0.8 pounds. It's less than a pound, but frustrating after losing 11 pounds the month before. Time to move forward, and I think that by Christmas, my goal is to be 210. And 205 by my birthday. I have to get back to the gym. I was going good there for a while and just flaked out in the last week. I was tired and hungry, more so than usual before my period, but I have to just start making myself go. I love it once I get into the routine of going and it makes me feel good. Well, gonna go lay down and hopefully get rid of this crazy heart burn chest pain feeling I have this morning.

  5. Hi Danielle, The book is called "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery by Pat Levine. I haven't made anything from it yet, but I will soon. Hope you enjoy it if you buy it!! Christy
  6. Hi everyone! I was banded July 17,2007, and am doing and feeling great for the most part. (I am growing a bit tired of chicken broth and glucerna, though). I am on "Bariatric liquids" for another week, which has included clear liquids plus glucerna. I've been, for the most part, getting in the required amount of liquids, but am having problems with the protein. I'm able to drink 1-2 glucerna's a day, which is only 10-20 grams of protein, and the recommended is 50-60 grams/day. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Christy

    re-scheduled surgery

I know it seems like forever to wait till the end of next month, but better to be safe and get your glucose levels down. I wish you luck and I too, can't wait to buy new clothes!! It's been the best thing I've ever done! It's worth the wait!! Take care and best wishes!! Christy
  8. Jubie, I gained 9 pounds in the hospital due to the IV fluids and it came off 2 days after I was home. I was banded on the 17th of this month and have lost 12 pounds since surgery for a total of 28. You can do it!! I am still on liquids and see my doctor for my first followup tomorrow. I"m not hungry, but am getting tired of broth and Protein drinks. I bought a LapBand recipe book on Amazon.com and am about to get into that and try some of the recipes. They have recipes for every stage of eating. It's great! Good luck and take care!! Christy
  9. Hi everyone, I was banded almost 2 weeks ago and am doing great. This website is just priceless in helping me get prepared! I just joined today as a member, but have been reading threads and posts for quite some time. I've lost 26 pounds since starting my liquid diet, and hope to have continued success. I wish everyone on this site all the success we all deserve!

    Banded July 17,2007

Thanks for the welcome and congratulations! My doctor was Glenn Burleson, he was a Bariatric surgeon in Minnesota before coming to Florida, and actually his first LapBand surgery was on one of my coworkers in October of last year and she is doing fantastic! She has lost 85 pounds since then and I was inspired to do it when I saw how well it worked for her! I have my first followup with him tomorrow. Wish me luck!! Hope you both had a great weekend and I look forward to hearing from you guys again!

  12. Hi yummieT, Good luck with your banding on Monday. I know you'll do just fine. I was banded on the 17th of this month and am doing great. I'm having a bit of a problem getting in all of my protein, but as far as the surgery, and healing and all that, I"m doing great! I've lost 26 pounds and am not hungry. If you have any specific questions, you can always contact me. I don't live in NC, but I could try to help. Good luck!
