I am a 57 (just turned 57 on Nov 3) female that did not grow up with a weight problem until I was diagnosed with Graves disease back in 1996. After that everything went haywire. Went through Thyroid storming and then the radiation to kill off my thyroid. Weight started creeping up. I can't blame it totally on the thyroid issue because I like to eat too. But when you don't have a thyroid and they have you on such a strong thyroid replacement med and other meds you tend to get really fluffy. Well I got too fluffy. My highest weight was 357. My pre-op weight was 325. Today, a little over 3 weeks post op and I am down 29 pounds.
I told my husband I thought I finally found a diet I could stick with! :D
I have a daughter and 2 beautiful granddaughters. They are my world and that is the main reason I decided to have the vertical sleeve done. I want to be around to see them grow up and to be able to enjoy time with them instead of always being in the background.
I am looking forward to this new journey I have chosen. I know there will be a lot of ups and downs during the journey but hopefully it will lead to a much healthier and more active me! :)
