  1. Hey Sooverit, I eat salads all of the time. I had part of a grilled chicken ceasar salad for lunch today and will have the rest tomorrow. I was told that I would not be able to eat ribs, pulled pork etc. I don't know if the power of suggestion has anything to do with this but I am always craving these meats. Yes, I eat them. I eat anything I want with much smaller portions and I try to avoid corn, potatoes, rice etc as a personal choice. I have arthritis and a chemist told me to cut corn and potatoes out of my diet as these can actually cause the joints to swell. I gave up carbonated beverages prior to pre-op surgery because of the affects it can have on the joints. The only thing that you have to remember is to CHEW, CHEW, CHEW and you should be able to enjoy many of the foods that you are now eating. harleq_47 :hungry:

    Scared/Nervous/Anxious/and Obese

You are taking the first steps to getting healthy. I am sorry that your sister can't keep anything down. Has her Dr. checked her band? I am 47 and have been banded since the 4th of May. I have been very fortunate. I had one problem when I tried eating a small bite of a biscuit the day after I had an adjustment. The pain was horrible and needless to say it came up. Your insurance will pay for the excess skin to be removed if it causes you to have a rash or irritation to the skin. It will not pay for a tummy tuck but having the skin removed would be nice. Check w/ a plastic surgeon when it is time. You may also be surprised at how much of your skin may reduce w/ weight loss. I was so worried about my arms and so far it hasn't been too bad. I am sure they will not be pretty when I get all of my weight off as it is a substantial amount. I feel that in the next few months I will be rolling my sagging breasts up and fitting them into my bra. But, I guess I can "live" w/ that. Hope all goes well for you. Harleq
  3. Hi Sooverit, I am 47 and weighed 393.5 lbs on March 24th. I was already in the process of getting approval for my surgery while at this great weight. I have been banded since May 4th and I am down 56.7 lbs. I feel great! There is a woman in my local support group that had surgery on Mar 2nd and she is down 86 lbs. She is in her 50's. The main thing to remember is that the band is a tool. Believe me when I say that if I can be helped by the band that anyone can!! harleq
