    Geez Frisco, that's AWFUL!!! Are you pleased with your care, or do you think it was less than competent? You still did the right thing. I figure -- for me personally -- it was a choice between the risk of a quick death under the knife, or a slow death under the fat. Hope you're still HOPEFUL!!

    Posting an update. My goal is a 10,000+ step/day average for the month of Nov. So far so good! Nearly 38 miles for the month, and an average of more than 13,000 steps per day!

    Daily Protein, Sugar, Fat Goals/limits

    Thanks everyone. I've reset my carbs and fat, and went back to review my high carb items over the past two weeks to learn what I should do without. It's a shame that refried Beans are so high in carbs.... What low-carb healthy fats are you guys eating? I'm guessing nuts, peanut/almond butter, olive oil, avocado, cheese...

    PUREE DAY 1!

    It was HEAVENLY!!!! Scrambled egg for Breakfast, refried Beans with cheese for lunch and Shelly's Ricotta Cheese Bake for dinner!! Well, two tablespoons of each, eaten over 20 minutes, with a baby spoon.... But I. AM. SO. HAPPY. AND. PROUD! AND I met my liquid intake, my Protein intake, and took all of my meds throughout the day at the right time!! Yay me!!! Jen
  6. How do you guys think I'm doing? I'm no longer using MFP (as of 10/27) to track my exercise/offset my calories. Thanks for the feedback on this in another thread I began! I'm getting in 50-60 oz of liquid per day, and only using one Protein Drink (10-17 oz) per day. I'm taking all of my meds/vitamins. At my 2 week postop with my surgeon yesterday, I'd lost 12 lbs. Total pre/post op = 46 lbs lost in 6 months. I'm walking about two miles per day, and doing vigorous chores like raking leaves. I walked up six flights of steps TWICE yesterday, and jogged for two blocks today! Don't go back to work until Nov 4. I sure would appreciate your feedback/expertise!!!! Total Calories Eaten: 10/24: 706 10/25: 745 10/26: 1090 10/27: 1161 10/28: 758 10/29: 823 Total Net Calories (10/24-10/27 reflect MFP exercise offset): 10/24: 501 10/25: 471 10/26: 816 10/27: 531 10/28: 758 10/29: 823 Protein intake: 10/24: 67 10/25: 66 10/26: 123 10/27: 89 10/28: 72 10/29: 75

    Puree & Soft stage

    I'm nearly one month out, and I'm eating 3-4 oz per meal, depending on what it is. 4 oz of yogurt, Soup, even pureed chili. No way I could do 4 oz of soft eggs, tuna, pureed chicken though.... Not even 3 oz really without discomfort.

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

    I'm in my 3rd Week Stall too. *sigh* Still working my program though, and walking nearly 4 miles each day. Getting in about 50-70g of Protein each day. Still working on the liquids -- hitting 40-50 oz per day. On pureeds until next Tuesday. I've lost a total of 10.75 inches, including 6 inches from my waist. Had to buy all new pants for work. My scale sucks, and lies to me (it's 4.5 lbs lighter than the scale in Health/Fitness at work). I gotta get rid of it, or get a better one. My bowels simply refuse to work -- even after Miralax each morning and Colace every night! Maybe I'll just explode one day ... HW: 286 SW: 256 CW: 238 (for the 7th day...)

    Is it bad to think of selling your child for a tortilla chip?

    I dont understand the dieting right before surgery. Dont all docs/ins companies require 3-6 months of med managed weight loss before surgery? I had to see a NUT weekly, show proof of an exercise program (she reviewed the past week on my pedometer), go on a prescription for phentermine, weigh in weekly, etc etc. I had to do just 3 months, and I lost 30 lbs (286-256). The only thing I had to do pre-op was NPO after midnight the night before.

    CHEAP SF Torani Syrup!

    Ugh! Too late!! Brown sugar cinnamon was one of the ones I bought! Also choc, peppermint, raspberry, and caramel (not the classic).
  19. I use the pure protein bars, and like the peanut butter one the most. Chocolate after that. I don't really care for the others. They hardly have ANY sugar alcohols: 200 calories, 6 sugar alcohols, 20 grams of protein. I've looked at EVERY other bar in EVERY other store I frequent, and I can't find ones as good as these.

    Adding: 8640 steps on 11/3 13424 on 11/4 Daily average so far: 12,080 steps, about 3.5 miles per day on average!! Also, started back to work today. Lots of energy, and feeling great!

    Surgery date: 10/15/13 Highest weight: 286 Surgery weight: 256 Current weight: 237 (three weeks post-op tomorrow) Seems like there ARE other October Sleever's forums/groups. I have a hard time keeping track!

    MFP calories: Aim for goal or net?

    My goal calories are 800 per day, per my surgeon/dietician. Of course, when I exercise (which I do each day) my calorie intake for that day is offset by the calories I burned; the result is that nearly every day, and I still have calories to consume at the end of the day! So, am I aiming for 800 calories NO MATTER WHAT EXERCISE I DO, or 800 calories NET after the exercise is calculated in? I'm hitting around 90 grams of Protein every day for the last three days, and I'm hitting 32% carbs, 32% fat and 36% protein for this, my first week. I've only met my NET calorie goal of 800 once -- after my exercise is figured in, my total calories taken in for the day is less than 800 most of the time. But, with the exercise, MFP wants me to eat 1200 calories or more per day to meet a NET calorie count of 800. Of course, MFP also tells me each day that I'm risking pushing my body into "starvation mode!"
