    I'm still hairy

Hey I am up for the naked man photo!! LOL!! Bring it on!!!
  4. I have never been a closet bandster. I am an office manager for a dermatologist and everyone knows. They all support what I have done and what I am still doing. When drug reps bring us lunch, they know what I can and cannot eat so they make sure there is something special in there for me. I have had patients that are thinking about the procedure come in my office and sit down and have a heart to heart about. I tell everyone thinking about this decision to come to this website. There is more information on here than any doctor could tell you about. My family is very supportive. My little sister is supportative but she is jealous becuase she now has coverage for WLS but cannot find anyone on her plan that will accept it. I don't talk to her as often and can't share any of my goals with her. I believe it is a choice whether to be a closet bandster or not. It didn't work for me. I am too open about everything.

    Hurricane Rita

I live in the northern part of DFW, Lewisville, and can help with birds or other domestic pets. I have a dog, three cats, three cockatiels, and three cockatiel eggs the first one is due to hatch on Sunday. If anyone needs my help just let me know..
  6. Dr. Benavides did my surgery in April, He is great!!!! I love him and his office staff! My sister had surgery in Mexico and is using him for her follow ups and loves him also. He has a great bedside personality! His office staff continually gives me a hard time when I go in the office which I love! In fact, I need to call them, they want me to go out with them one night. If you need anymore info, just let me know!

    No desire for Soda's

I too was a big time Diet coke drinker. Notice I said WAS!!! LOL!! I used to drink about 10 cans a day. I too quit cold turkey in April and have absolutely no desire for them. I would rather see the 53 pounds lost then have my Diet Cokes! If you set your mind to it you can do anything....and the band will help!!
  8. I have a bunch of 2x scrubs that I can't wear anymore....anyone else in the medical profession want them?
  9. Ok, so I have been divorced for almost 7 years and I finally have a date on Thursday!!! Ok, so it is a lunch date, but still!!! I met him at Hurricane Harbour (water park) and have been casually talking to him since May. He works there as a security guard on the weekends and has a full time job during the week. The funny thing is that everytime he has seen me I have been in my bathing suit with a coverup on and he STILL asked me out...LOL!!!!!! I had to brag...I am not really nervous cause I feel as if I know him. He searched for me Sunday at Hurricane Harbour and sat by me while I was laying out. We got to talking and he told me he had Gastric Bypass just over a year ago. He looks great now!! He was 430 pounds. I bet he has lost about 200 of that in a year. Ok, I will stop gushing..LOL! I will fill you in after the date!!

Hey DeLynn!!! I am sooo happy that the surgery went well! I am so glad you joined us here! This is a great bunch of people. I guarentee any problem you have, they will have had it also. It is better than talking to people in the Drs. office!! I have lost an additional 5 pounds since I saw you in the office that day. I am dating someone now and life looks good!! Please let me know when how it goes in Dr. B's office. I don't have anymore visits scheduled there. I do have an invitation from his office staff to go out to dinner soon..LOL!! Most of them are bandster also. They are almost as crazy as I am. OK...gotta finish this dang baby blanket I am crocheting..LOL!! Please keep in toucH!

    Guess who's got a date??????

Thanks all!!! Herman and I had a great time at lunch. He is such a sweetheart. We met for lunch at TGIF, but he know what kind of car I drive. We talked and talked and laughed and laughed. He kept telling me how beautiful I am..Wow, it has been a very long time since I have heard that!! I got back to work and he has already called me to make a date for Sunday to go to the movies. Tina, no, he has always been wearing shorts and a t-shirt with a baseball cap at Hurrican Harbour. Rats!!! LOL!! I am just pumped!!!!!! I also had our Association Rep come by to see me right before lunch to help with an insurance problem I have had. Bill has not seen me since the surgery. He kept saying, "Wow!! You look amazing! If I wan't married, I would be all over you!" What a sweetie! Ok gotta run, receptionist went home sick and things are going crazy!! Thanks everyone for the support
  12. Good morning all! I was banded April 7th but had problems with my "flippin port"...it flipped over and they could not access it for fills. So they went in on May 25 and put me back under and re-attached it "with fishin line. Now it ain't gonna move!" per my doctor. I was a self pay for my surgery and had to pay an additonal $250 to go back into surgery to fix my port. They told me that even if United Healthcare would not pay for the initial surgery, they probably would pay for the fills and the port repair. Well, last night I got my EOB from the May 25th surgery and they paid on it! Granted it was out of network and there was a $2000 deductible, but they still paid $2032.14! I am waiting to see what UHC does on the fills. Hold on kids! There is still hope for some kind of payment!!!
  13. Ok...let me see if this works. The picture with my cat Kiki was taken November 2004 and the one in the green dress was May 2005.

It happens sometimes, not often though. I ended up going back into surgery to flip it back over. No big deal, went back to work the next day.

    Body Odors...???? advice please!!!!

Kathy, Me, too!!! I was going to start a thread on this but just have been too busy. Yes, I have been using Secret also. My dry cleaning bill has increased since I have to clean my shirts all the time. Don't try Dove deoderant. I have the same results. Certain Dry will take care of the wetness but not the odor. If you have trouble locating Certain Dry, ask the pharmacist. They can order it if it is not in stock. I just asked Dr. Bond, my dermatologist boss, he said the smell is coming from the bacteria being released in the armpits or where ever. He suggests using an anti-bacterial soap in the shower. Cetaphil has a good one. He also said to make sure that whatever you buy to put under your arms that it is a deoderant AND an anti-persperant. Hopes this helps! BTW, Kathy, did you get your box?

    Reflux

Elizabeth, This is coming from someone who has had GERD her entire life!! Elevate the head of your bed say with a brick or two. This will help. My story seems to be different to everyone elses. I had bad refl,ux my entire life. Diagnosed with it when I was 5. Ever sine I was banded, I have not had heartburn or reflux at all! I am so thrilled!!!

    Mothers...arggggg!:(

While on my pre-op diet, mom put notes all over the cubbards and fridge saying things like, How bad do you want this surgery? Is eating what is in here gonna help you lose weight? Then she drew little candybars, popcorn, Ice Cream and other little tidbits all over the paper. How sweet! In fact I was banded two and a half months ago and just took the last one down. Yeah, she drives me crazy most of the time, but she really does care!
  23. I agree with all the banders comments but especially Kristi's. My youngest sister is about 300 pounds and has not said anything about my weightloss. However all my co-workers and friends just oooh and ahhhh all over it! They are jealous. Either that or they are thinking...is she sick? lol Nope! healthier than she has been in a long time...you go girl!!!

    Getting Banded in the Morning!

Good luck in the am!!!! You will be happy with the results!!!
  25. I love my band! The one thing that comes to mind is when I had my psych consult, the doctor asked me "Why can't you just not eat certain things? Why do you think the band will help?" I answered, "Because if I was at home thinking, ya know I have been good, I can have just one ___________ (you fill in the blank in the convenience food) then I will be good tommorrow. Like hell I will, there is no punishment for what I ate. That is how I got this way! If I am banded, then I will get sick off of what ever it was that I thought I would eat...make sense?" It keeps me grounded and at 38 pounds in two and a half months, it must be working! I also don't "live around food" like I did before. It is not my main concern anymore. I ate oatmeal at work today and I thought 3 co-workers were going to faint cause I was eating! LOL!!! I told them I eat, just not much.
