Ah! Hormones stored in fat - now that's a revelation! Off to the Internet I go to find out more. -
Anger Anyone?
Hidden from view replied to sophiepants's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And I'm so BORED. Can't seem to find any pleasure in anything. That'll be because I'm missing my yummies. Happened to me when I gave up wine and also when I gave up Oxynorm after I got hooked post knee replacement surgery. And getting off the Oxynorm was the hardest thing I have ever been through. So this time I know it will get better. (Gee, I sound like a total addict, but I'm really quite normal... ) -

Sleeve Construction Problem!?
Hidden from view replied to RichardVST's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried a Proton Pump Inhibitor? That could solve the heartburn problem. My surgeon discharges everybody on a PPI and I expect to have to take it forever. It's just a capsule. The PPI also reduces the sensation of hunger. The shape of the sleeve doesn't really matter as long as it is functioning OK. I would try a PPI before I tried further surgery. -
But, apparently, the NEW CONTENT tab is the place to go for new stuff. Think I'll go there now.

Haha! That seems to be the case :-)

Aha! Isn't it easy when you know how :-)!!! Thanks

Think they should have worked out the kinks BEFORE they launched the new site. This is just about the only thread I participate in now. Too hard to see what's going on! And the "Trending topics" don't seem to change for days and days...

Yep, seems pointless to me. Someone posts some status, which you can't even see in its totality, so how can you respond? Plus, how (and why) do you create a "status"?

...Could be about to drop off again... Bah humbug!

Forgive me if this has been asked before. On another thread, it was mentioned that food should not be heated above 130 degrees. What is that all about? I haven't heard anything about heat, or degradation of Protein my heat before. Please can someone enlighten me!

No - she said crack ED

Yeah, read that Yeah, I read that too. That was totally me! I thought I didn't eat much either. How we can delude ourselves!!

No, I ate like a piggy :-( Thank goodness for the sleeve. No more piggy eating possible!

Overheating My Food
Hidden from view replied to Hidden from view's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, I don't think so... -
I ate a whole Christmas cake over a few days. I bake several cakes in the winter (June/July/August) to give away as gifts at Christmas. I decided I should check that the recipe was OK (should be - it's the one I use every year!!!) and before I knew it, I'd eaten a whole cake. And then I was annoyed when my daughter said "and you wonder why you put on weight!" And it annoyed me that I couldn't eat a whole cake and be a skinny binny like her!!!

My three kids and their spouses are are very slim/athletic.

I had noticed (long before I was sleeved) that my grand kids ate so little. Not only did they thrive, but they even GREW on a couple of spoonfuls of food per meal. They have access to more - they just won't eat it. Except one of them. He eats whatever is put in front of him and then begs for more. He's a chubby little fellow at this stage. That observation made me realise that we (humans) may actually need a lot less food than we actually eat. Not that it stopped me eating! Realising the truth and acting upon it are different things. It was impossible for me not to eat. My kids are very relaxed about what their kids eat (or rather do not eat). One of them is a pediatrician, and she says that kids seldom starve themselves to death! And if they don't eat what's offered, they don't get offered anything else. No body makes a big deal of it. If the kids push the food away, the mums go OK and that's it. No drama, no fuss. (I, in the meantime have to stop feeling anxious about the small amounts they eat...)

Gosh, I had forgotten. When I was a child, we were always told to eat our meat first. Then the veg. Then the potatoes. I was a very skinny child and a skinny teenager. Only got fat when I was in my 30s and by then had completely forgotten the meat first rule my mother had. Hmmm.

1 Weak Out - Dehydrated, Getting Hardly Any Protein And Starving
Hidden from view replied to PinkBubble's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It will get easier. I felt like I had been hit by a truck for the first two weeks. Took me about 3 hours to drink a Protein shake. I don't feel exactly energetic now, but that dreadful fatigue has gone. I too had regrets for the first couple of weeks. Couldn't believe I had done this to myself! Now, nearly 5 weeks out, it is all so much easier. No more regrets - love looking at the scale every morning! -
Me And 6 Months Later Me.

Looking FANTASTIC!! Hope the same happens to me!! -
My surgeon didn't say that the Lap band has been banned in NZ. Just that it wasn't offered any more. However, you found a site where it does appear to be being offered, so maybe my surgeon meant it's not offered in the bigger centres. Who knows what he meant. I just believed what he said.

I cooked up a feast for my family gathering yesterday and couldn't eat any of it! Had a bite of asparagus and a bite of cauliflower cheese. That was it. Couldn't handle the roast beef. And no one seemed to notice - there was too much conversation going on. Plus, I was up and down to the kitchen, which I usually am when I'm cooking for the clan, so no one would really notice.
-
That is interesting... However, when you look closely, you find that there are only two clinics in the whole of the North Island (and the same in the South Island) that state they offer Lap Band. That's not many at all - 4 in the whole country! And two of them (Wanganui and Timaru) are really rural. Perhaps it's better than nothing in these areas where there are only cottage hospitals (well Wanganui is a bit bigger than that). If it's not completely gone, it's definitely almost gone. I was just quoting what my surgeon said.

I'm exactly one month out, been going so well. Losing weight, getting in my Protein and Fluid. Then tonight, I ate two cheese sticks and poured a glass of wine. I haven't drunk wine for months. Actually only took two sips of the wine and poured it away. But why did I do that? I thought I had it all under control. My surgeon was specific about cheese and wine - NO CHEESE OR WINE!!! Too easy to put the weight back on he said. So what did I do? Cheese and wine... Gee, hope I get myself back under control tomorrow.
