My neighbours have set dog control on me a number of times. They are totally intolerant. I have two tiny dogs, and I am at home with them 24/7. One day, I was taken to hospital in an ambulance and the dogs barked cos they were on their own. Enter dog control. Another time, my mom collapsed and died, and again the dogs were on their own. Yep, dog control again. But I think the neighbours got told off that last time, cos I haven't heard another thing. And after the last, completely unreasonable complaint, I no longer care if my dogs bark, and do nothing to stop them. So there!

I don't think I have a pot big enough to fit a turkey. Sounds delicious!

Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery

It is purported to mean "Person of the Motherland" or (especially in Australia's case!) "Prisoner of Her Majesty". The pomegranate one is a common one also. No one really knows. But POMs are British people living in the colonies (originally Australia, NZ and Sth Africa). I don't take it as an insult at all. I think it used to be derogatory (like 100 years ago) but not any more.

Forever known as the "pooable staples thread". OMG - hilarious!
  6. I may go for the nervous exhaustion thing.. That normally kicks the intestines into overdrive, doesn't it? <poop poop!> Only if you have staples...

Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery

I've still got my pommy accent, as has one of my sons (he was 7 when we came here). But the other two are very Kiwi. All married to Kiwis now, and four Kiwi grandchildren. I LOVE Australia - been there heaps of times. My favourite place in all the world is Port Douglas, followed in close second by Maroochidor. Love shopping in Sydney - oh! the QVB. Might go clothes shopping there when I'm thin! Although my budget is more Paddy's Market!

I'm actually a POM. Been here for 26 years though, so I guess I qualify.

3 Weeks Out. What Were U Eating?

My doc said I could have pureed meats and veg and cottage cheese etc 2 weeks after surgery. But I couldn't keep it down. So I reverted back to protein shakes for a week or two (three!). Had some minced beef yesterday, which was great, and some porridge for breakfast today. Tried another portion of minced meat today, but it felt really uncomfortable and I got the slimes. Progress is much slower than I expected it to be, but that's because I had WRONG expectations!!! Becoming more patient by the day... :-)

  14. Still, you don't want her to think you are dying of cancer! It would be cruel to worry her. Can't you arrange a dentist visit? Mouth full of lignocaine = you can't eat...

  16. When I'm at the stage where I'll need to buy new clothes, I'm wondering if it's worth getting my colours done. Anyone done that, and is it worth it?

Has Anyone Had Their "colours" Done?

That's really interesting! Seems we all see ourselves differently to how the world sees us.

Has Anyone Had Their "colours" Done?

Thank you for your lovely comments Lipstick! I don't see myself as beautiful - I see wrinkles and sag! We never see ourselves in a positive light, do we? So I'm really encouraged by your comments :-) I can see there's more to these "colours" than meets the eye. A little research on my part is required, I think. Can't wait to be thin enough to buy new clothes!

Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery

My staples ain't going anywhere - my surgeon oversews the staple line and also covers it with glue. Ain't now way my stomach is going to leak. I'm 6 weeks out now, so that danger has passed anyway. There is no way on this earth that titanium staples from sleeve gastrectomy can enter the alimentary tract, even if the staples worked loose (which they do not). The only way for someone to poop staples if if they swallowed them. I chose the sleeve - less hassle than the band, less complications than the band, and a permanent solution to my battle of the bulge. Plus, hardly any docs in NZ still do the band - success rates too depressingly low. I originally wanted the RNY because I heard this was the gold standard, but my surgeon told me that VSG is rapidly becoming the gold standard bariatric surgery now. Simple, relatively cheap, low complication rate and high success rate. Plus fewer problems with absorbtion and dumping issues.

Mmm. The chili went down well. But there is MASSES of it. There's easily enough to last me a month. Same with the cottage/shepherd's pie. Note to self - cook for a thin person instead of a fat one!!
