  1. I struggle eating talapia, cod, and salmon. I can eat shrimp and tuna but not much of it. I also have a challenge with chicken even if it's baked or crocked potted. The grease from the chicken don't work and the texture/strands is hard for me. Chicken has to be a part of Soups or stews for me to be able to eat it. I can eat beef if it is ribs - no bbq AND if I eat it with ketchup, sauce, or mustard. Also, 1-2 eggs over medium works, but scrambled or poached eggs do not. Anything, absolutely anything that has fat or grease in, on, or around it, will make me sick.

I have heard of it having to do with the medicine they give you when you leave the hospital. Good you called the doctor. Good Luck!
  3. My husband's grandma celebrated her 91st b-day and I ate the potato salad (picked out stuff that I couldn't eat) and 2 baby riblets and a dab of bean, corn and rice salad. Little did I know that I would feel like crap today. I think it was the potato salad which tasted kinda sweet. Probably had processed sugar in it instead of Miracle Whip. Next time....

  4. Can we talk about exercise? Congratulations by the way!!! I exercise but find no joy in it. My weight loss is slow and frustrating possibly due to peri menopause, age or other things, but how many days a week do you go, what type of exercise are you doing, etc.? Also since you track calories, how much do you eat daily? Thanks. quote name="CrazyJaney" post="3539646" timestamp="1405264136"]Celebrating today as I've finally gotten past the half way point. Wanted to post to all those on the fence about surgery (as I once was) and for those in the early-early days who can't conceive of the success (as I once did). What a wonderful tool this is! It's still work, and it's getting harder, but it's a tool that really works. I track everything. I still weigh and measure most things. I am struggling to make exercise a part of my everyday life. But I feel so incredibly good. The daily pain of my knees and feet are gone. My blood pressure is normal. My cpap settings are the lowest you can have. My energy is improving. To be certain, surgery isn't for everyone, but if you doubt yourself preop, as I did, I want you to know that success DOES happen. I started at 325. I could barely move or breathe. It's work. Some days are hard. But it's so worth it. Now - to buckle down to get to goal in the next year. It's getting a little harder. The journey is far from over but I'm so glad I booked the trip!
  5. Agreed. This could be something other than the sleeve after two years of success.

    Scary stuff

Thank you and read it. This is not as unusual as what I have already read. Basically, this article mentions the same thing that everyone tells you prior to getting the surgery - it is not a magic fix. It is a tool that one can choose to use or not. I think doctors have pulled away from telling you that it is the patients fault if they regain, at least I hope they have. We are humans living a human experience with all types of temptations and for (us) it was and is food. Even today, I want to go to Dairy Queen and get a small cone, why?, because out of a summer habit and the fact that I see them in my travels all around me! Do I die to self? How long do I not satisfy this urge? I don't thing its possible to NEVER have a cone, or bread, or pasta, or donut for that matter. This tool is hopefully teaching us discipline and reminders of how far to eat/much to eat. Will it be the same way two years from now? I hope so, but I have also read that returning to plan jump starts the plan like it was just yesterday. Does the stomach stretch? I have read that it does, but not to the volume that it once was. Have hope and be encouraged that you will be one of the long time success stories!

    Partner.

My husband was the same way, until I made him go to the information session with me and even though I knew what I was gonna get, I let him believe that he would decide for me. He (I) chose the VSG surgery. He said, "if you go with any one of them, I think you should go with the sleeve." Done! I proceeded with the pre-op procedures and kept him informed. I also share the process with my teens and they got on board with it as well. Next: eating out. Now there is a problem. Our family outings or date nights were always centered around food. Now, he and I at times don't know how to do this. It has diminished our times out all because they don't know where we/they can take me to eat. I always tell them that I can go anywhere and will order from the appetizer menu or the soup of the day. I still miss ordering large plates of food and enjoying them like they do. It is something that we still deal with. Eventually, they will come to terms with this and I will too.

    Scary stuff

This actually makes no sense. Anyone can get organ failure doe to the fact that we, as a Americans, are known to be carbaholics. It is already an epidemic that we are not getting enough protein in our diets and that is killing most of us because we are getting high carb diets from fast and processed foods. Organ failure is showing up mostly in any statistics when you do not eat enough protein. Organ failure was not that begin the olden days because people lived off the land. The land provided them with fresh meats, fruit and vegetables without chemicals and pesticides, so no organ failure unless people were pre-disposed of it genetically. With this being said, this plan requires us to eat 60-90 grams of protein per day. If we eat our protein first, we should be fine. Keep protein powders around when you feel a shortage in your daily intake and don't let your Momma scare you! She's speaking from fear right no end possibly needs your support. Plus, there's nothing that we can do about it now, except, eat our protein. Good luck!
  9. I want to know this too. My weight just creeps off. I'm happy for it, but I have heard that it could be many factors, like; menopause, age, previous weight set-points. I still have 82 lbs. to lose and just not getting any traction. Is there any truth to the amount of carbs you eat? I get so discouraged about eating fruit, vegetables, and beans that although I need that, I veer away from eating them because of the carbs and how fast they add up.

    Flab

Everyone losses weight at the rate that we are supposed to lose, so GOOD JOB on your loss! Now, the only thing I would have suggested to you is to exercise more earlier on. I am a member of the healthy family/work/gym life balance, so I understand not pushing to hard and even the mentality to staying at the gym so I work out about 2-3 times a week. If you don't like exercising or going to the gym, try doing minimal sessions. I do HIIT training (look it up) on the treadmill and either upper or lower strength/muscle training on the machines or with free weights. It only takes 45-60 minutes max and DONE! I feel like I need to maintain a healthy balance with exercise because if you go into overdrive you must maintain what you create to keep the weight off. I don't want that kind of stress after reaching my goal. Good luck!

    unusual sign of fullness!

That's a new sign! I haven't heard of this before, but as long as it doesn't linger, then maybe that's your sign (Funny!)
  12. It's not a stop, it's a "pause for the cause" episode. Your body is in shock, you've lost a lot of weight so fast that it doesn't quite know how to disburse fat and utilize energy right now. Keep doing what you are doing and shake it up a bit. Now may be the time for you to push to eat a bit more or eat something that is allowed but seems sinful like toast. Maybe push yourself with exercise or something like that. This is also the normal time that most people have a "pause" so don't fret. Count it all joy!
  13. Been at home since Wednesday and Sooooo Hungryyyyyy! What is going on?

Could be indigestion. Indigestion takes on a different feeling after surgery. You can get incredible "hunger pains". Call your doctor and tell them. They may start you on medication and you'll feel better.

@Chelly, I like the boredom piece, but I must say it has really felt good to get some much needed rest from a month of hard mental work. @pegsbored, I will ask about that, but veer towards not needing medication. Good to know that it could be indigestion, I'll research this and find out what others are doing naturally for this. Thanks for the advice!

    Intetesting observation

Sometimes people just don't want to tell you. They notice it, but just don't say it. My closest friends and family tell me all the time, but others don't. Men have no problem saying they notice, but women have a tougher time saying it to you. Maybe it hurts them to say something? I keep on pushing and get sexier and bosser just to make it even harder

    Dumping syndrome

Sleevers don't usually get dumping but it could be just your body releasing the fluids. If you are new to being sleeved then you really are not eating solid foods right now. It will go away in time. Unless there's something more going on...
  17. I love Jay Robb chocolate Whey powder. I mix it with a little soy milk here, a little cocoa powder there, a dollop of natural Peanut Butter, some ice cubes with a few splashes of stevia and blend away. At times I will put a few slices of banana in it too. Ummmm, so good!

yay!!! Awesome, now no stress for a while, let yourself go and get on that downward slope, I need to do something, cause I only lost one pound this week and I am totally bummed!!!

      BladeFox

Well you had a pretty steady downward trend lately, so you body is trying to figure out what happened to it. You'll figure it out lady. Plus, salt can be a culprit with that scale. I try not to weight myself when I eat egg drop soup or other salty foods. It can sometimes take 3-5 days to elliminate the salt sit-i-ation :)

    3. pupichupi

      pupichupi

you know i didn't even think of the salt thing, and lately I have been craving salty stuff? So that is true could be that!!!

    bertholian cysts anyone?

it is a duct in the vaginal area that fills with Fluid. doesnt have anything to do with weight loss. it happens to a lot of women. you can have it drained and filled or just drained, but it could come back.

    fullness

Everyone is different! I didn't learn my full signal until I was about 2 months in. I stuck to the plan that I was given during liquid, full liquid, and soft solids, however; when I began to incorporate solids, OOHHH, that's when I learned, and you keep learning, and you keep learning, until you find your verve. This process is all about you learning who your new person truly is. Good luck!

    Whats your "full" signal?

The creature within will start showing up (buhaahahhaaahaaaa!) I'll get one burp like I'll be chewing and need to swallow but the burp will prevent me from doing it. Sometimes, I will spit it out and other times I will swallow past it - but then enough.
