I have heard that when these types of things happen you need to make sure that you are drinking all your Water. Try that and see. -
Does It Always Have To Be That Way?
BladeFox replied to WeeWers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look, everyone says it is a tool and tools fix things not people. People are intricate which requires mental capacity to achieve goals. I am saying this because I know me and I know that there will be some struggle. I am hoping that my smaller pouch will keep my overeater within in check, but I also hope that I will make smarter choices since I can only eat smaller amounts. I have been told by my nutritionist and by my psychologist that I can make a visit with them when things get tough. It's a doctor's visit that's worth the co-pay. Good luck to you on your journey! -
Not An Apple Anymore, Maybe A Watermelon?

I'm a rectangle  -
My blues comes from my own reaction at the doctors office when they didn't look at me and say, "ma'am we would like to recommend the surgery for you soon, within the next two weeks, from the looks of you, you desperately need it." I assumed that most pre-sleevers feel the same way because why else would we now turn for help in this way if it weren't for medical conditions, lack of mobility and having tried several diets that failed to help keep the weight off. Couldn't they see in my eyes the desperation other patients experienced when walking through their door? My subtle yet humble expression that I need them to feel my pain and the urgency of placing me at the top of their list? Couldn't they see my obesity and hear my knees crack while getting up from the waiting room chair, the anxiety of wanting to take off my shoes to weigh myself (as if that would help anything,) the difficulty of putting my shoes back on because I have a thick layer of abdominal girth to manuever around, my vague belabored breathing from walking from the car down the hallway and into the office and briefly sitting down just to be told quickly to 'follow me?' My blues is simply my impatience in waiting for all the wheels to churn in the right direction, the inability to wait for the process to work its way out and to allow life to offer up its perfection that will eventually culminate to a new me. Yes, I pine for others to see my outward pain and hope that they will react, but in all honesty, I would rather be the success the doctors and I want to achieve and that may take Time. I hope you other impatient pre-oppers will find this useful~

Will I Still Be Able To Get The Surgery?
BladeFox replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am pre-op and gained some weight as well. I think they call it something where you are basically saying goodbye to foods that you love. I want to know too because I have heard that doctors have been putting people on liquid diets to lose the pounds prior to surgery. -
Olive/darker skinned men/women and scarring from surgery
BladeFox replied to gamergirl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Alright, I am african american and we have hyperpigmentation issues. Actually anyone with olive to dark skin does. I stumbled across ProActiv's dark blemish corrector for some old pimple spots and found that it really works! The only problem with the Proactiv company is that when you order anything from them you are put on a continual charging and receiving plan. Be careful! I haven't found anything better thusfar. -

Weave or braids: What to do with hair for surgery?
BladeFox replied to Disabledaccount's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have gone short with a keratin, so I'll be taking my satin pillow to lay on when I go to the hospital and a brush. Very low maintenance... -
I'm gonna buy The Bullet and make all of my pureed foods when the time comes - at least that's the thought. I would rather be in control of the salt than trusting packaged food options.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
BladeFox replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I didn't really notice that I had a huge weight problem until my daughter, which was 4 at the time, mentioned that she wants to look like her daddy when she grows up. I was taken aback by this because I thought girls wanted to be and look like mommy instead of daddy, so I asked her why, and to my SHOCK she said, "Because Daddy is this way and you are this way." She showed me what this was meant at her age and dad's this way was long (verticle) and mom's was wide (horizontal) which she bounced with her hands like it was explanding. This actually broke my heart to pieces and made me tear up. I had to gently take her from off my lap and sit her in the chair so that I could look away to wipe tears away. Her explaination made me open my eyes to my weight being a problem in general. Again, sometimes we live our lives in a state of unconscious awareness. It also opened my eyes to the legacy that I was creating for my children that it is alright to live an unhealthy life, so I wanted to break that generational curse starting with me and my family. I went on the Atkins plan and lost 87 lbs with exercise and managed to keep it off for about 3-4 years, but gained it back when I lost my Mother. Then I went on another plan and began the yo-yoing so here I am today wanting/needing to make a lifetime commitment for my family. -
What Can I Take For My Hair Loss?
BladeFox replied to Ready for the new Lay-Lay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have had hair fallout in the past and experiencing it during peri-menopause. At first, I cried, then I tried a weave and cried because of weaving it, then I tooke the weave out and tried covering up the back with my own long hair but felt self-conscious. So I then decided to go natural, no chemicals and a lot of natural oils, but my hair still didn't like it and continued to break off in the back. So I cried for the last time and found a short hair style and got it CHOPPED OFF! Because my menopause causes the back of my head to sweat the style didn't last and it curled up naturally. Today, I have a short cut with a keratin. I sleep on a satin pillowcase and I use Argan Oil and Coconut Oil. I am happy with my style and I want to go even shorter. I think it looks sassy~sharp. I don't know when I will ever go back to long hair because I love not needing to do much to it. I also have some clip-on's that when I want to rock a longer look, I can and clip it out when I'm done. Consider it a new YOU -
I have been on this journey since June of this year and attended the info session in August. I have read a lot about the sleeve, pre and post and I am literally tired of reading. I am ready to at least get a date!

Initial Consult Was Today
BladeFox replied to luckyme2g's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to my first visit August 22, was given a goal to lose 5 lbs, have gained 2 instead. Now ok need to lose 7lbs and afraid that I will keep gaining before they ok me for surgery. I was hoping to be in surgery by the end of Nov but now thinking it won't happen intil next year too. I feel like I have to be perfect with everything before I'm given the green light to advance. Take your Vitamins, chew slower, no caffeine, drink 6-8 glasses of Water, eat three meals a day, blah, bla, blah, I mean WOW! Are you all going through the same thing?
