hi BladeFox-been a while. You will do just fine. How much do you want to lose? Do you go to the monthly support meetings at Fairview? They are very helpful too. There are people who are veterans and people still on the fence. Very interesting!! Hi 4theluvof, I am feeling alright about the surgery. I world D like to break past 100 pound lost, that's my goal. I inquired of other support groups so I don't have to drive the distance each month. Donna gave me a list of other groups closer to me. Have you made a decision yet?
  3. I wouldn't say kick him to the curb, but I would ask some questions. Marriage is worth salvaging, and working on to understand what truly is going on. You also need to ask yourself if you contributed to it. Not saying that he is cheating or if he is cheating that it was your fault. A cheat is a cheat that made the decision to cheat. Just as it is hard work to keep a marriage, it is hard work to fix one too. Do you due diligence and inquire to see if it is innocent or malicious before you move to next steps. Good luck!
  4. Everyone knows that flying to other countries for surgery is a cost savings. The thing that other medical industries scare us into believing is whether it will be a botched surgery because you go there. There is big, Big, BiG, BIG money to be made here and in Canada in the healthcare industries, pharmaceutical industries and insurance companies so why not keep everything here and scare people away from low cost yet effective surgeries in other countries. I would say to check with other countries reputation just like you do here in the states and in Canada.
  5. Closer yet a couple weeks away...

It is family medical leave assistance that taps into your sick time. You would need your supervisors sign off and approval however. I believe if you live in the USA and have insurance, you have it. So check with your benefits first, then tell your supervisor about it leading with needing it for health reasons...which is the truth, then get the for to send to your surgeon.

We only get 3 days sick time???? So it wouldn't matter one way or the other? My boss sucks!!!

  6. This snow and ice needs to vanish. My aching joints just can't take it any longer.

Agreed. My RA is not happy about the cold. I need NSAIDS but can't take them with my sleeve. Go away cold.

  7. I'm sure many of us have had this same thought. Why can't our insurance company offer the surgery as a packaged weight loss/panniculectomy procedure? They obviously know that many of us will have skin that will hang and become bothersome. They could provide it as a step two only if your surgeon feels it necessary after reaching your BMI goal. There must be something that frightens them away from covering this type of surgery...it's not a tummy tuck only a skin removal. Does anyone have the answer to this question?

    Problems Eating

I have heard that you should not eat oatmeal! Also, just liquids and pureed foods only. I would go back to basics with Protein shakes and only do the creamy soups, no meats or veggies in them.
  9. Count down to surgery and it is painful. Slowly the time turns, tic, toc, tic, toc...What can I do to make it go faster?

Keep yourself busy. Start a new book to read. Go walking in the mall. Etc etc. I know how u feel. I was the same way. But before u know it, the surgery will be over with.

    Knees snap, crackle and pop

I have interesting things that go on with my knees and depending on what is going on with your knees (see a specialist) the doctor may not want you to do climbing exercises only walking. I would check first before doing irreversible damage to your knees.

    Blurry vision?

Interesting, first I've heard of this.
  12. My happy, feel good drug of choice is Coffee, not decaf...What will I do without it?

I waited about 10 weeks to drink it again. (My NUT said 12 weeks.) I survived--BARELY--and you will too! You can do this! :)

Start now girlie, yep i said it. It is the only thing I wished I had done ahead of time. Slowly you'll be able to add the sweet nectar of decaf and then real coffee!!

I know how u feel. I loved diet doctor pepper. I have not had it in almost 3 months. But as time goes by ..It is easier to do without it.. It is not in my home. The only time I have difficultly with it is when I go to a restaurant. But I can't drink any liquids when eating out. So it makes it easier to accept me not having a dp.

Told my 17 year old today

I have shared my desires with my teens since starting the process. However, when I told them today when my surgery was, my daughter was the only one that is most concerned because she thought they were going to cut my stomach wide open. My husband and son are concerned but not like my girl, so today we watched a surgery on youtube and she said, 'whew Mom, It seems pretty simple, that helped.' Plus, I treat it with less panic in my tone and behaviors. They want to take off school for the day and I even agreed to that to help them with their anxiety. I mean we are Mom and that's a big deal. See if you can have her watch some videos of the procedures and testimonials with you and see if that helps. Good luck!

    This sucks :(

I am not going anywhere until I know how to eat out without being so different.

It is normal to have food funerals., but I would advise you to be careful and not over do it, especially if your doc wants u to lose weight before surgery.

I have to maintain my weight and do a liquid diet the day before surgery. The toughest part is maintaining my weight.

  18. When you fast, it takes around two full days before you feel the 'runners high' and can do it easily. Unfortunately, you will not have that much time to feel this. I say go to bed early for those two days and read...no TV. Just a minor sacrifice for a great event!
  19. Called clinic this morning to inquire about secondary approval. Person that I have been working with said that she will call insurance company to find out and if they still deny she will send me the waiver. Once waiver is received they will begin scheduling another date for surgery. She told me this happened because the hospital wants the extra liability if they can get it. WHAT?!?

  20. Hopefully waiting to hear good news on a surgery date. Be careful about having a primary and secondary insurance. My primary approved, my secondary did not because clinic didn't include some paperwork, so they are reconsidering their decision. I am being held up by the secondary - WHAT!?!?

    Is my Trainer kidding me!

Just make sure that they are taking you at a moderate pace. Some trainers get in their heads about training and don't think about where you are at the time. Good Luck!
  24. I gave into the Sunflower monster and devoured a bag of them over the weekend. Now I have a preop seminar tomorrow and I'm trying to drink my life away for the scale if there is one. Trying to flush that salt on down the toilet if possible!
