This doesn't sound normal. You might need to push your surgeons office to get in to see them. I think the pressure after a few bites is normal, but not the nausea. Not that far out.

How many grams of carbs per day?
Sassy Pants1 replied to JessicaAnn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My NUT says your carbs should match your Protein. 70 grams of protein should get 70 grams of carbs. She says you are malnutrioned if you keep carbs too low. I can't decide if I believe her. That seems like a lot of carbs. -
I had a catheter. Didn't bother me one bit. Walking was not inhibited. Removal is slightly uncomfortable, but it happens so quickly, it's not a huge issue. And no residual pain.

VSG: Expectations vs Reality
Sassy Pants1 replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The weight loss is slower than I ecpected. I read of people losing 100 pounds in 3 months. Not that I ever thought I would lose like that. I am coming to terms with the fact that I am a slow loser compared to most. But the good news is that the weight IS coming off! Far more than I could have ever lost without the sleeve. -
Starvation mode, stall & atrophy
Sassy Pants1 replied to HumanMerelyBeing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fluids are the number one priority at your stage. Even Protein takes a back seat. Once you can consume more calories, you will get your strength back. I recall that 300 calories seems accurate for week two. And get ready for the dreaded stall that comes at 3 weeks. It gets almost all of us. -
October Sleevers ~~~ How's your weightloss going so far?
Sassy Pants1 replied to Athinnerme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today is my 4 month post surgery date. 50 pounds. I hit 50 a week ago and nothing since. It seems I only lose for about one week a month and the rest is just a fluctuation of ounces. -
Fairly quickly, but it did hurt getting there for a week or so. I used pillows on either side of me. It gave me a soft place to lean. It really helped me.

hurts when I sneeze or cough
Sassy Pants1 replied to schoen2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it's that super deep stitch where they stitched the muscle back together. I would say I didn't really notice it anymore after 3-4 weeks. -
Is there anything more depressing...
Sassy Pants1 replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm right there with you. It's been coming out too fast over the last month. Guess I should have taken that Biotin everyone recommended. -
I've been using a straw since day 2 - no issues at all. I will state for the record that my medical team does not prohibit straws. Many do.
-
No issues for me. I can tolerate anything.

If self-pay... What about complications?
Sassy Pants1 replied to Jen40's topic in Insurance & Financing
My company also has an exclusion for WLS so I was a self-pay. My insurance would not cover any complications. Luckily, I was a textbook case - no complications at all. -
I think it's the seeds that are a concern...?

net carbs and sugar alcohol?
Sassy Pants1 replied to abarta83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do net my carbs. Not sure if it's the right thing to do? I assume so since sugar alcohols are not supposed to mess with blood sugar, which is key. -
It totally gets better. Really. Honestly.

Stall (not the bathroom kind)
Sassy Pants1 replied to doneganregime1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've found that I can't break a stall. I just keep plugging away, working the program, and eventually, the scale moves. Sometimes it's 10 days. Sometimes it's 3 weeks. But it always breaks. -
Wondering if anyone stayed home alone right after surgery?
Sassy Pants1 replied to trudyjo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery on Thursday. Home on Friday. Spent Saturday and Sunday on my own. No issues for me. Getting up and down was uncomfortable, but I just moved slow and I was fine. I did not need any help. -
Great post! I feel the same. Love it, but hate it when I'm having something dee-lish. Very happy to hear you still have good restriction at 18 months. Very encouraging.

7mo post op...I need help
Sassy Pants1 replied to throwaway557's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I take gummy Vitamins and Fiber. Way better than traditional vitamins. I have trouble with liquids too. I have started drinking (at night) diet hot chocolate. It goes down really easy. And I double the serving so I get 16oz. of liquid at the end of my day. I will shake it up between iced tea, hot tea and Water with flavor drops added. I do drink the occasional soda. Though not encouraged, my dietician said I could have carbonation once in a while after two months. I've been using a straw since day two. Also fine with my surgeon and it's caused me no issues. Lastly, I eat a lot of rotisserie chicken - no cooking required! 2% string cheese. Tuna. Shrimp can just be thawed - make sure you get the pre-cooked kind. You can buy eggs pre-boiled. I also hit up the salad bar at the grocery store. But I stay away from anything with mayo. I hope you find your way. Good luck! -
Getting frustrated slow weightloss
Sassy Pants1 replied to dwhitten's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a friend who was sleeved early August. He has close to the same loss as you. I don't think your 80+ pound loss is pretty darn good. However, I understand your frustration with the lengthy stall. -
Complications can absolutely happen. But the truth is, the overwhelming majority of us are complication free. Selecting a highly skilled surgeon with an excellent record is key. Following your surgeons direction is next.

Work Travel - weight fluctuations (blah!)
Sassy Pants1 replied to Stacy_wls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, too, travel for work. I always weigh more the day after air travel. Always. -
I Knew I Was Thin When....

Will I ever drink water normally again?
Sassy Pants1 replied to alocklea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I feel like it took a week or two before I could get a good sized swallow. Now, at neatly 4 months out, I can certainly gulp enough to quench a thirst. -
The dreaded stall. They happen. And they suck every single time. Even though I know it's part of the process, I make myself crazy. Every. Single. Time.
