It has begun...Relationship changes
Sassy Pants1 replied to Nurse_B's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People enter our lives for a Season, a Reason or a Lifetime. We just need to recognize and make peace with what it is. -
Yay! Way to hang in there. I'm only 17 days out and I know my stall(s) is somewhere in my future. I am trying mentally prepare myself.
-
Totally normal to not hit water and protein goals in the first week or two. In the first week, it's all about hydration. Your nutritionist should be able to provide you with weekly goals.

Coping with whey protein drink intolerance
Sassy Pants1 replied to HR Pro's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You will not have to live on the Protein drinks forever, but it will be a couple months with the pre-op and post-op diets. My surgeons plan advanced me to soft foods at 14 days. Now, I just have to supplement my diet with Protein Drinks rather than live off them. I really struggle with the protein drinks. The taste is one thing. It's the smell that about does me in. Blech!! -

I, too, was sleeved on the 17th. You wrote my story! I've also had a fairly textbook recovery. Glad to hear you are doing so well. -
October Sleevers ~~~ How's your weightloss going so far?
Sassy Pants1 replied to Athinnerme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can taste and smell the protein in the unflavored as well. It gags me. I'd love to find something I can mix it in that is tolerable to me. Please let me know if you find the magic combo. -

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this. Can you not get anything down because it hurts or because you feel nauseated? -
Help. Bright red blood in diarrhea
Sassy Pants1 replied to krystalherrington's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I truly don't know. I would suggest calling your doc. -
So, I've read the unflavored is undetectable in Crystal Light. Uh...no! I'm calling BS on that. It is totally detectable. Perhaps I used too much? I've tried it in Soups heated to 120 degrees and it clumped up. Thought I was safe not heating the max of 140 degrees. What is your favorite way to use the unflavored?

How long after sleeve did you start to loose after the sleeve
Sassy Pants1 replied to janetgerard's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me 2-3 days after surgery. -
The Dulcolax tabs are tiny. And coated so they slid right down.
-
My misery loves your company! Ugh! I just took 2 Dulcolax. Here's to hoping for movement tomorrow.

How much do you put in yogurt? I am using the 5 or so ounce Dannon Greek Light & Fit. -
this "candy " is almost too good to be true!

Thank you for this post! I will be looking for these right away. And I could totally stand to have a laxative effect. -
Is there anyone that does NOT have trouble eating or drinking.
Sassy Pants1 replied to pjackson0523's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am two weeks out today. I've not really had trouble drinking. Though I do have to take my time with the Protein drinks or I get too full, too fast, and that is unpleasant. I can eat an entire 5oz Greek yogurt fairly quickly. Same with cottage cheese. But I deliberately try to go slow. I was cleared to add more foods today so I am eating tuna right now. I've only had about one ounce and I'm feeling pretty satisfied. This pleases me greatly! -
October Sleevers ~~~ How's your weightloss going so far?
Sassy Pants1 replied to Athinnerme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Surgery on the 17th - down 14 pounds. It's been fairly steady at 1# a day. I am not getting 64oz of fluids, but I am working up to it. Yesterday was the first day I hit 60g Protein. I am gagging on the Protein drinks, even the smell makes my stomach turn. I get to add a few more foods today so I am hoping to get more protein from real food and cut back on the protein drinks a bit. -

Soft food stage. When you go out to dinner, what do you get?

Great question! I look forward to seeing the responses. I have had soup that I ask the kitchen to purée. -
What if it doesn't work...
Sassy Pants1 replied to TiffanyBernaciak's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My guess is that pretty much everyone has the fear it will not work for them. I believe that to be normal, as you weigh the pros and cons. However, I believe it does work for everyone, provided you follow the plan laid out by your medical team. I would be more concerned about whether you can live with being a slow loser. That is something that cannot be predicted. I have come to terms with the idea that as long as the scale moves in a downward trend, I am going to be okay with that. I think. I hope. -
For the first few days at home, sugar-free Popsicles were a blessing. I picked up the tropical flavors and really enjoyed them. And they count towards fluid intake!
-
Ahhh, sweet, sweet progress! Good on you!

Drain removed tomorrow! EEK!
Sassy Pants1 replied to bonniefide's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nurse counted to three and before I could say "wow, that kinda hurt" she was done. Felt about the same as the catheter coming out. Unpleasant, but not exactly awful. -
Seems to easy, anyone else?
Sassy Pants1 replied to mittiga's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I could/can get that much down without too much difficulty at all. I'm only one week out and I've been hitting an average of 50 ounces daily without much trouble. Saw the doc today and he thought that was great.
