Hello Everyone,
My name is Rebecca, I am a mother of 4 beautiful children ages 25,22,17 and 7. I was 19 when I became pregnant with my first child in 1991 and I weighed 90 lbs sopping wet. My weight in high school fluctuated between 82-90 lbs. I remember as a young teenager my mom took me to a doctor to get me on some kind of appetite stimulant to try to get me to gain some weight. Just before we left his office he asked me to sit outside the room so he could talk to my mother in private. And it was then I overheard him tell my mom that I was so tiny and frail that if I were to become pregnant I would never be able to keep the pregnancy to full term.
Those words haunted me and set me up for my weight story. When I became pregnant with my son, I ate and ate and ate ANYTHING I could. I drank gallons and gallons of milk determined to carry my son to full term. And he took what he needed and left the rest for my thighs, butt and gut!! LOL I went from 90 lbs to 140. I ended up having pre eclampsia and toxemia. It was a tough start but unlike some mothers who dreaded the baby fat, I LOVED it! For the first time I had hips, breasts and thighs. I finally felt like a woman.
Well add on another pregnancy and another 50lb weight gain and those curves I was coveting earlier were no looking like lumps and bumps. And so began my yo yo weight life.
I tried Phen/Fen and it worked wonders in shedding off those extra 40 lbs. But the slight slurring and stuttering that came along as a side effect weren't too charming.
I tried the Hydroxy cut pills and shakes. And although I started loosing weight, I also started loosing friends who couldn't stand my erratic behavior.
I coudl go on and on about Slim Fast, South Beach, Butter Beaters, and the outcome is all the same. Great while you're doing it, double trouble the minute you stop. I finally hit 190 and just decided I didn't care anymore. Then the unexpected happened, I became pregnant. This was my heaviest weight starting. I ballooned up to 227 and couldn't even walk. I had to visit a Chiropractor for adjustments 3 times a week and lost my job because I was no longer able to sit for longer than 45 minutes.
So here I am 41 years old and I am 206lbs and I am ready to change my life forever. I'm ready to take on any and all challenges that come my way because I know after the VSG I will finally see results for all my hard work!! I know I can push past my old record of 4 miles a day and push it to 10. I know instead of walking the 5K's I will run them!
I know this is life changing, that inspires me. I'm tired of "Friends" dragging me to their gyms and thinking after showing me a few exercises they've set me up for some kind of marathon. I need this surgery to be my ultimate tool to success.
I have my last 2 doctor visits in November and then I'll keep my fingers crossed for a Christmas surgery!
