Hi my name is Michelle and I live in Oregon, My story began many years ago with weight gain after having children and many attempts to loose on a variety of diets. I would loose some and then gain it back again plus a few more. In 2002 I began the process of getting the lap band, but after a change in insurance policy I was denied. Then in 2003 I was in a series of three car accidents and one work related injury in a years time leaving me unable to sustain any physical activity, exercising became a thing of the past. I had given up on the hope that I would loss weight and became more isolated and depressed. This has been going on for years until recently a friend had the sleeve surgery. With that I was prompted to look back into WLS and to my surprise my insurance covered it. After six month of medical supervised weight loss program I was approved and had gastric sleeve surgery on Oct.29th,2013. I was blessed to have had a good experience with no real problems except the normal pain in the incision and gas. I am so happy with my decision to have had it done. I am feeling better and have more energy than I have had in years. It has made it a little easier to cope with chronic pain and has helped with the arthritis from my injuries. I am excited to see all the little victories such as being able to sit comfortable in a restaurant booth, bending down to tie my shoe, being able to walk without getting winded, donating cloths that are to big just to name a few.
