I had the mgb over 2 years ago, I can eat whatever I want, decent size portions but not like preop. I do drink often and If I don't keep a tab on my diet when it starts going up, I do gain weight. This holiday season was the worst, ate everything in sight, drink 5 days a week for about a month and half, no gym hardly. I am up around 7lbs but I will bring it down as I do keep a healthy lifestyle for most of the year and workout. I cut out sugars and carbs and get active again by going to the gym with 45 min cardio and weights 5x a week at least.

I had a lapband for few years which did not work, glad i got the mgb...over 2 years now and its great. The best think I did.

I had lapband to MGB revision in late 2014. It is the best thing you can do, much better than the classic bypass. I am at my ideal weight and lost 112lbs in 16 months.

Lapband to Mini Gastric Bypass revision
SUNNYNYC replied to Aussie Bloke's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi I was also revised to mgb from lapband. I love it also, and yes I do feel sometimes the food gets stuck when I eat to fast just like the band. I think it is the way they do the mgb to avoid cutting through any scars you might have had from the band. -
I am 1 month out of surgery with 27lb weight loss. The first 2 weeks I lost about 20 lbs, and the next 2 weeks just about 7lbs. We MGBers should start posting our weight loss weekly on this site? It will be interesting to know how everyone else is doing.

You seem happy with yourself, they why go for wls surgery? Ok, maybe to get healthy.....but there is also something called mental health. I was happy with my body and weight and had no medical conditions, just overweight by 120 lbs. WLS surgery gives your health and life back, able to feel better along with looking better. If presentation is not for you, then you are unique person my friend. I want to look good, wear stuff that does fit me, I was xxl -xxxl, now I am in a large, and yes I have purchased larger shirts where I should have stuck with xl, but I made a goal to fit in the Larger size and achieved it. Satisfaction comes to different people at different levels.

So how much have you lost weekly
SUNNYNYC replied to SUNNYNYC's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
I was averaging about 10 lbs a month, but If I check my last 30 days as I am still in month 7. I have only lost 5 lbs. Anyone else experience slow weight loss after month 6? Will it get better and what steps you took? -
MGB is a better option then the rny. But if you just want to lose 10-30 lbs, then I wouldn't do any. If you are looking to lose lets say 50 or 60lbs, I would go to a good surgeon who would tailor the mgb to your weight loss. There are only 2 surgeons in USA who perform it I believe. I had mines overseas in India by dr.kurlar and so far good. I told him my concern is I want to be able to eat somewhat. With my body type and muscle mass, he did a 7 feet bypass instead of 6.5feet he does with a larger pouch. So far I am doing 70 lbs in 5.5 months. I just want to lose maybe another 30 and I have never felt hungry or I am missing out from the food. Best of all unlike the rny or sleeve, this is reversible. Make sure your surgeon has experience revising sleeve to mgb.

MGB or OAGB in Mexico / India / other foreign country
SUNNYNYC replied to utahgirll's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
My experience was overall pleasant with the staff and the hospital. The hospital is about 5 hours drive from the airport and just out skirts of Ludhiana city. The rooms were clean and had TV which had alot of indian programing and I also thing it had some english movie channels. You would arrive a day for surgery and given light meal and some laxatives before you go to bed to clean out your stomach. The surgery usually takes place early in the morning. On my day I was number 4, and I did see the patients come out of the ER in around 90 mins. The surgery is much shorter, the staff just preps you for the doctor to come in and operate. Before I was operated, I spoke to the anesthesiologist and the Dr.Kular and they answered any concerns I might have. I was having the lapband removed on the same day also, and they noticed the lapband had some damage, so it took me 4 hours to come out of the ER. Post op: Other patients (I will discuss mines after) Other patients had small surgery time frames and were kept in ICU till the next day and left on day 3 I believe, I saw about 7 to 8 different patients and all of them doing very well except this lady was feeling nauseous. They were given light Soup to drink and able to eat soft foods on day 3. The hospital has veg juice or Soups. Post Op:Me Since I had the lapband complication, I did not go back to my room for 2 nights, was being monitored in the ICU. The doctor put me on strict liquid diet for 10 days so my esophagus could heel from the lapband damage. The liquid diet was very easy and did not feel hungry at all. I left on day 5 or 6 from the hospital and stayed in India 3 weeks just to make sure everything went smooth and had no leakage. I just had my surgery 5 months ago on 9/22/14 and as of today I have lost over 67 lbs. I started above 305(I weighed 312 on my preop but I think it was all the heavy eating prior to surgery) and now I am around 238. I am hoping to lose another 30 lbs or so. I am able to eat decent size meals, The doctor did give me a bigger pouch, but bypassed 7ft instead of the 6ft due to my body type. I am young and had a athletic build with a big frame, and so far good. Just hoping I don't go below 195...would like to stay in the low 200's at 6ft tall. -

I had it with Dr.Kular in 9/2014(http://www.kularhospital.com/Home) in india, Just shy of 5 months by few days and down 65lbs. He has performed the most MGB's after Dr.Rutledge and is considered 2nd to him. You can see his and Dr.Rutledge youtube videos. The hospital was clean and paid around $5k USD plus airline ticket. Was in the hospital for extended stay due to lapband removal, overall it was a good experience. -

Having MGB in Sept, need your experience
SUNNYNYC posted a topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
Hi, I am having my lapband removed, had lost 30 lbs but gained it back, The lapband really never worked, I lost most of the weight through starving my self and drinking shakes. I have done a lot of research and the mgb seems like the best approach since it is reversible, which is very important to me and has great results with the least complication rates. If you had the mini gastric bypass, what was your experience after surgery? got sick? recovery length? how long after the surgery where you able to go to work? how much can you consume (portion size) 3 month,6 month and 1-2 years post op.? Are there any foods you can't eat? Did you lose more weight then you intended or resulted in under weight? what is your height, start weigh and end weight? Your responses will be appreciated. Thanks -
Omega loop (mini gastric bypass) in october!

Yes I have been drinking alcohol after one month. The doctor said it's fine but it will slow down the weight loss. Usually 2 drinks but I have been at many social events the past 6 weeks and do see a slow weight loss and increase in drinking ability, so I have given up now for at least the next 4-8 weeks. -

Hello, As of my 3 month anniversary, I have dropped 49 lbs. I am not watching my diet and drinking alcohol due to the holidays this past month, but I have been spending 2 hours at the gym 5x week and did put on muscle weight too. I believe I can lose more by watching my intake, but I just wish to lose another 40-50lbs and hopefully will be there soon. -

Doing well and eating decent meal sizes . I am down total of 38 lbs on my 2 month anniversary(11/22) and in the last 2 days went over to friends house and I ate pretty much everything , enjoyed liquor and had dropped another 2 lbs. So, the total weight loss is about 40lbs or 18kg -
RNY or Mini Gastric Bypass?
SUNNYNYC replied to Okiebon's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
The reason I went for the MGB is the flexibility and the ability to eat. As a prior lapband patient, I had a horrible experience and didn't want to get the sleeve to know its not reversible. There is no way out from the sleeve. Mgb can be reversed and I am eating decent amount of meal now, and I dont feel like i am dieting. -

Yes I have been also working out the past 3 weeks going to the gym 4 days a week and doing cardio for 45mins. I feel like wight loss is slow but did manage to lose 5 lbs in like 9 days. I only see weight loss if I worked out the day before. for example I didnt go to gym for 2 days in row and gained back 1.7 lbs. and then that took me 2 days to lose after working out. -

Went in for Roux en y, but was given an Omega Loop Gastric Bypass
SUNNYNYC replied to michelle61's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The MGB is much better option over the RNY. It is created by Dr.Rutledge, but insurance won't pay for it, since there is only 16 years worth of research compared to 70 on RNY. The MGB is more common in France, Germany,India now then any other weight loss surgery. I had it in India, and so for so good.
