Having MGB in Sept, need your experience
SUNNYNYC replied to SUNNYNYC's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
Hi Everyone, I had the surgery on 9/22/2014 and in 3 week have lost 10 kgs or 22 lbs. I was a lapband revision, so I did have some complications since the lapband had done alot of damage. The lapband had caused infections which healed and it would reoccur and my stomach, intestine was stuck to the lapband. I had gone to 2 different bariatric doctors and my primary, but I never had a clue, even after once my blood tests showed there was a infection in my body. my primary and I overlooked it, and I said i might have had a cold or something. I guess this was one of those things where it would be only noticed once I was on the operating table. So, the surgery took 3 hours instead of the 35 minutes and I was in the hospital for 4 nights, 5 days. The MGB went well except for the lapband removal, the doctor put me on 10 day clear liquid diet, which wasn't hard to do and then I moved on to semi solid/soft foods. There were 3 other people who had the surgery the same day and they were released the next day and were doingsemi solid after the 4 or 5th day. So on the 10th day, I tried rice and lentil's in the soft meal category and had no problem eating it. I did have some Soup with chicken bits, or soft chicken and I chewed it up well, the problem I would get sometimes is that it gets stuck, feels like i have a lapband and there is minor pain. The surgeon told me 2 stay on soft foods for another 2 weeks since the lapband and scar tissue still needs to heal. How is everyone doing with the swallowing? feel any pain in the esophagus when eating? hopefully it's just the scar tissue healing, I would love to hear from all of you. -
Mini gastric bypass
SUNNYNYC replied to waiting4miracle's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
I was scheduled for a band revision to sleeve but backed out of the surgery. Could't picture myself eating few bites for the rest of my life. I have been doing research and the mini gastric bypass (mgb)seems interesting as an option now. It has good results coming out and similar to rny bypass with less complications. The mgb has a litter bigger sleeve and you are able to eat a decent size meal after 6 months to a year and studies show steady weight loss with less complications percentage. It is also reversible in case you need a exit strategy which is the plus point. When I got the lapband, people and doctors would swear by it and now they disregard this surgery, so yes the reversibility is a big plus. The only downfall is that mgb is still experimental surgery and insurance does not cover it, I am thinking it getting overseas at kular hospital in india since i will be visiting in few months. -
how much can you eat with the sleeve longterm
SUNNYNYC posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am very interested in getting the sleeve, I am 30 yrs old with a 40 bmi , but I cant wrap my head around eating 4 - 6 oz for the rest of my life. I am fine with the idea eating small amount for a year so,I was under the impression that it will stretch to 9-10oz after a year or so, but after reading the comments it does not seem like it stretches. How much can you eat and how long has it been since the sleeve surgery? -

Hi group...i am also in the hicksville area and thinking about the vsg...i am double minded and can't seem to imagine going through the post op diet or eating 2 to 4 oz for the rest of my life...sometimes I think I can lose those 80 lbs by my self without the vsg....i need support to go for the surgery in 2 weeks -
i was band 5/01 and still have gas pain, but much better than before.how long did you have gas? I am drinkin liquids and are slowely going down. does this get better with time? I belive it might just be the swelling around the band area. I am very parnoid that my band is too tight and i wont be able to eat at all later on. I also have very light pain when i take deep breaths where my stomach is. not sure if it is the incision pain on my abs or its my band. My stomach is still swollen especially where the port is, how long does it take for that swelling to go down. you input will really help me

As a guy, my sex drive has gone way way way down....I have gained like 90 lbs the last 4 year. since the last 6 months, i could go without sex for almost 2 weeks. Before that I could go like 3 times a day and almost everyday. I know it has somewhat to do with the weight gain and somewhat witht he pinched nerve in my back. Hopefully these 2 problems will be taken care of after the lapband. Cant wait to get lapbanded. Did any guys have this kind of experience?
