You are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your story. I admire your courage and your honesty.

My nurse told me at my pre-surgery appointment that it is common to not lose weight the first week and some people even gain a little. She said some of the reasons are that they pump you full of fluids at the hospital and some people retain it, and also your body has gone through a shock with the surgery and needs time to adjust. Every body is different. She gave me an example of one woman who had gained two pounds at her first week appointment and than was down 22 lbs at her 2nd week appointment, having not done anything different. I am in my first week after surgery and have decided to stay off the scale this week and just focus on following all the post op instructions and healing. Take good care of yourself and everything will balance out!

Major- so happy you are doing well! Everything was great here too. Get to start liquids at 8. Who knew I would look forward so much to a dosing cup of water? !?!

I'm not entirely sure either but I think if you got to your profile there should be something there. Learning how to work this site - add that to the list of things to learn in this process!

Thank you Beach Lover! Oct21, my doc said I will probably be off 1 to 3 weeks, all depends on pain level. Hoping all goes well and will be back to work after 2 weeks. Wishing you the best for Monday and will look forward to checking in with you after surgery is over.

I am new here and having my surgery next Monday too! It certainly is a rollercoaster of emotions. I really am glad it's finally here. Wishing you the best and it's good to know that there are others going through this at the same time as me.

I hear ya! I am on day 11 of 14 on the liquid diet. I lost my sanity around day four but came out of it within a couple days. Luckily no one was harmed Hang in there! We're in this together!

I was asking the same question myself today. I am so sick of the Protein powder I have been using, it was so hard to hide the taste of it. So this morning I stopped by one of our local nutrition stores and they actually will mix up samples to try. I found one I really like that is s'mores flavor and tastes good just mixed with Water. The products are a little more expensive than what I bought at the grocery store health market, but it's a lot cheaper than buying something, hating it and then throwing it away like I had been doing. Hopefully you can find a place that does samples because everyone's taste buds are different. Good luck!

Congratulations! Glad you are doing well. You give me hope, I go for surgery on Monday and can't wait to be on the other side like you are!

My surgery is scheduled for Monday too and I thought I would be getting more nervous as it got closer, but actually feeling more sure about it than ever thanks to reading all the great stories here and advice from great people like cindymg. Thank you!
