Hi My appeal was submitted Oct 28th . it may takes 15 days to hear from them. my BMI in the last 2 yrs was 39 - 40. i gained weight in the past 2 months and BMI increased to 42 so i appealed with 42 BMI and Asthma. to be honest i kinda gave up and start to think about having the surgery outside US (self pay). i don't have time i'm a student and winter break is coming and it's the only free time i'll have *fingers crossed anyway*

thank you guys for being supportive. found out today that i don't have sleep apnea. i'm going to appeal with my current wight ( BMI 41 ) and asthma hope it works out.

i'm going to the dr office tomorrow. and will see. Thanks, "ou would think they would approve it to prevent further illness or complications in the future" that's exactly what i told them ugh! Aetna sucks!!! good luck i got the denial letter in mail right after i called them .. it said because of the BMI ( 39 ) WHAT! you should've been approved. go and fight don't give up ------------------- i'm having a sleep apnea test tonight. they told me i'll know the result in 10 days ( it's likes 10 weeks for me, i can't wait to appeal and fight Aetna )

Hi Everyone *excuse my english* Aetna denied me last week and i'm trying to appeal now. the reason of the denial was because of my BMI . 39 with no comorbidities. so now i got a letter from my pulmonologist to show that i have asthma i scheduled a sleep apnea test. actually i gained wight after my paperwork was submitted. so i'm wondering if i can appeal with my current wight ? *which is going to change the bmi to 41* any advise to get the approval ?

yeah that's what they said. i'm waiting for my sleep apnea study. *fingers crossed*

Well, Aetna Denied me. they said it's because of the 39 BMI. (this was taken 3 months ago ) i'm trying to appeal now. my current BMI is 41 and i got a letter that shows that i have asthma. also i'm doing a sleep apnea study. i'm really mad at my ins coordinator.. she didn't mention the sleep apnea thing. does anyone know if it's possible to change the BMI to my current one so i can win the appeal and get an approval ?

Hi everyone i'm also waiting for the approval . paperwork was submitted Oct 2. i called Aetna yesterday they said they haven't received anything. i immediately called the surgeon's office and the nurse told everything is alright, they received my paperwork and it's PENDING. BMI : 40 age : 25 suffered from asthma many times and knees pain My 2 yr history is the only concern because it's from my country. i'm extremely anxious and can't focus on my studies i hope i don't have to go through the appealing thing because my English is bad and i give up so easily
