Who eats McDonalds post op?
tulipco replied to mi75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tend to be of the opinion that I didn't have this surgery to spend the rest of my life on a diet, but to avoid that and have control over my eating. However, I've found that I no longer want a lot of bad foods. I hate eating anything with bread (burgers, pizza, sandwich etc.) because it fills me up so fast. If I do eat a few bites of something high carb, like a few french fries or something, I am missing an opportunity to eat Protein, and then will be full for 1-2 hours, and then I can never catch up for the day. It would probably also depend on the amount of restriction you have as well. At 12 weeks out, I can still only eat about 1/8 cup size portion of anything at one time, so it is hard work for me to hit my protein minimums. If I just eat whatever I "feel" like eating without focusing on protein, I will end the day having had like 300 calories, 20g carbs, and 25g protein. So all that to say, I have certainly allowed myself to have tastes of unhealthy foods on occasion, but those tastes just helped to solidify the fact that I don't want to eat that junk. It's ok for an occasional taste, but it's not what I want to eat anymore. I will take my 1.5oz of tuna over a cheeseburger any day now -
Feels like hunger pangs

Ok, not that I'm happy you had it too, but I'm glad I'm not alone. Hoping it goes away soon. By the way, do you remember how long yours lasted? I feel like it was much better by week 3. I have still always felt hunger, but not that deep, painful kind I had in the beginning. Hang in there! It does get better. -
Pinch on my insides

That sounds like what I had. I was always holding my stomach over that area. My surgeon told me it was from where he had to stitch muscle back together with very tight, braided stitches. He also told me that at some point when they started to dissolve, I might feel a popping sensation. I felt the pop at around 3 weeks and the pain was gone from then on. But it never hurts to call your surgeon if you are concerned! It helps to hear it right from the source so you know whether or not it is normal/if you should be worried -
Feels like hunger pangs

I had that too! Reflux medication maybe helped a little, but yeah, I felt like I was absolutely starving. Like deep hunger pangs. It went away as I healed. -
Post op? When did your energy increase?
tulipco replied to cushy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it was around the 1 month mark. It takes your body a while to adjust to having fewer calories, and you are still recovering from major surgery. I had a rough recovery pain-wise, and couldn't do much for the first 2.5 weeks... couldn't take care of my 1 year old at all. By the 4th week I could take care of her by myself, but was exhausted all the time. Week 5 I felt back to normal again. Everyone's recovery will be different, some people seem to bounce right back, but just be careful and ease back into life and especially exercise. -
Hi everyone! I've been lurking around here for a few months reading and researching I have to go self pay and would like to be local or at least a reasonably short travel distance from home. I'm having a hard time finding out self pay prices and was wondering if anyone had done self pay in CO and would mind sharing?? I know Dr. Snyder is $17,000. I have also considered going to Vegas for Dr. Umbach for $12,000. I'm still not sure how I will pay for any of it, but I would like to at least find the best prices around me to start. Thanks for any help!!!
