Will you lie about the surgery?
ChihuahuaMom replied to BigD35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL Hoosiergirl. Glad I read this today and not after my surgery - I'm sure laughing would hurt! I am telling a very small number of people - my son, & a few close friends. Besides of course my PCP or physical therapist. If someone asks me directly how I am losing weight - I don't consider "portion control" a lie. I don't consider it their business to know personal details of my life or medical treatment. I may feel different in the future, and I'm sure it it all goes well & if a good friend who might benefit from this surgery asks me, likely I will tell them. I'm going slow, you can always tell people later but once it's done it's done. -
If I gain one pound it's curtains for me!

Has he put on a liquid diet before surgery? 1 pound, that's harsh. I can gain 5 pounds in a day just depending on water retention, etc. -
Aftercare, labwork, etc

I will be telling her shortly, hoping she will be supportive but in any case letting her know is the only responsible thing. I'm going out of pocket / Medical Tourism and I'll be surprised if she reacts positively. -
I asked the surgeon who I've scheduled with how soon I should see my doctor in town after I return from getting my sleeve. I am going to have surgery in Tijuana. I am communicating mainly through the coordinator. She passed on that I won't really need much, and no labwork until 6 months after the surgery. Does this sound right? I have read others getting labs followed far more frequently.

I'm so sorry that the mass is malignant. Getting cancer someday after I get sleeved is one of my fears, I don't know your circumstance but surprised too that the surgeon is going ahead despite the cancer. Wishing you the best in your treatment & health. -
Beware the Sugar-Free Jelly Belly: A Cautionary Tale
ChihuahuaMom replied to Daydra's topic in Food and Nutrition
Oh no! LOL on the solution to constipation though. I know I can only eat some types of artificial sweetener. I have an actual allergy to maltitol, it gives me a bad rash. The others - yeah I have noticed they loosen up the GI tract. Have not noticed any problems with splenda. -
Tomorrow is my surgery!

ChihuahuaMom replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
November 5th for me in TJ, I have a 3 day clear liquid diet. Cut out pop about a year ago, I was never that big a fan of it so I won't miss it. -
November 7, 2013 at Mi Doctor....Anyone else?
ChihuahuaMom replied to jenjo11072013's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
We may see each other - my surgery date is November 5, I'll be at Hospital MI Doctor and the Marriott. Looks like I am going by myself, I'm a little scared but confident that I'll be well taken care of. My doctor is alejandro lopez. Have heard the assisting doc will probably be Dr. Cabrera. And Jenjo - I had the horrid myelogram experience myself back in june. They told me the same thing! Don't jump or "there could be damage." Horrid nasty zinger all the way down to my foot - I screamed like a banshee but didn't move. I'm so looking forward to having this done. Due to spine problems I can't exercise like I've done my whole life. I'm just dieting to gain back every pound I lost, and then more each time. Done with it, I'm making my bones & spine worse with the added weight. Hey - we do have the same doc! His full name is Alejandro Lopez Ortega. Cool! -
November sleeve buddies going to TJ ?!

We might cross paths for a day - my surgery is November 5, I'm arriving Nov 4th at the Marriott. I'll have surgery at Mi Doctor too - Dr. Lopez is my surgeon. Going through Mexico Bariatric Center. -
I am on the schedule for surgery with him in November. I am going through Mexico Bariatric Center. I know he also has his own company now, with his wife. This is the website for it - it lists a $4200 price now, which is a lot less than I'm paying through MBC. But I am going to stick with them, Christy my coordinator has done a huge amount of work & answered a million questions for me. http://specializedbariatrics.com/ I don't think he is with A lighter me any more, he isn't listed on their website. But maybe he will still do the surgery as you contracted with them / him specifically? I don't know. I think I would ask your coordinator that question, get it in writing. That or contact Dr. Lopez through his site, just to make sure.
