  1. Had a revision from sleeve to bypass 11/9. Had bleeding complications so was in only liquids for first 14 days. Once I went to soft foods, I completely stalled! Have lost nothing for 6 days!!! Is this normal? I didn't stall until 7 months out with my sleeve and lost 5-6 lbs at a time. Now it's like 1-2 at a time. Down 19 lbs, but hoping this isn't it?! Thanks for any of your replies who have been in my same position. How long did it last if you stalled & what did you do to help get losing again? THANKS!

Sleeve to Bypass Revision & Stalls

Thanks! I do use MyFitnessPal. I'm not necessarily counting calories right now. I'm 19 days postop & on 1-2oz soft food as tolerated with protein shakes & fluids right now. My concern was I have lost nothing since 11/21, but gained 2 lbs. When I had the sleeve, weight just melted off no matter what for the first 7 months. Just seems weird I'm not losing more?! see my doc on Thursday, so I guess nutritionist can give better idea why? Thanks for your reply!!!

Sleeve to Bypass Revision & Stalls

I decided to weigh cuz I haven't in a week. Gained 2 pounds!!! I am eating nothing but very small soft meals (cottage cheese, scrambled egg, yogurt, chicken & egg salad), protein shakes, water & hot tea!!! This process is so different from when I had the sleeve. I thought for sure converting to full bypass would make things move fast!Im hearing you all, really....this isn't a stall so soon? And why did I gain? I'm just so frustrated. Thanks for letting me vent here everyone!!!

    I'm thinking about a revision...

I personally have been through almost exactly what you're going through. Sleeved 10/2013...lost 90 lbs the first 7 months, then hit a wall. Stuck to diet & exercise...nothing! My body put back on 15 pounds even though I still stuck to strict eating! I went back to my surgeon in May 2016. We tried even stricter diet...stayed the same. I took phentermine for 3 months and only lost 3 lbs!! (Most people will lose at least 20+ in that med). So, it was inevitable....I opted revision. I had my surgery 11/9...had a bleeding complication the next day and ended up in the hospital a week and had 4 blood transfusions. Healing now &. on track. Lost 19 lbs, but have been stalled for 6 days!!! Frustrating. I never stalled with my sleeve. I guess I'd suggest trying what I did with your doctor and seeing if anything else can help you while making the decision to revise. Everyone will tell you eat better, exercise more, do a pouch test, do back to basics, etc...all good intentions but not the answer when you know what you've tried. Good luck to you!!!
  6. I'm 6 months post op and have hit my second plateau in just a couple months. The first one kept me going up 1 pound & down 1 pound for a month then lost 6 pounds and now again back to up 1 down 1!!! I've seen doc & talked to the nutritionist and am following what I'm told. I have lost 71 lbs since surgery, but have so much more to go! This is even more frustrating cuz I go to the gym 4-5 days a week & do various workout classes including working on toning, strengthening and cardio with a trainer!!! Please tell me I'm not alone?!?! Someone whose gone through this same situation, please give me some advice. Thanks!

6 months post sleeve and need help!

Unfortunately, I am STILL at the same weight...losing 3-4 lbs and it fines right back on. I changed my workouts (per a trainer) and even did a cleanse. When I did the cleanse, I lost 3lbs and the 5th day into it gained 4 lbs!!! I also tried doing at least one "liquid" meal a day (shake). I eat very healthy (a few little treats on occasion), still workout 3-5 days a week! I'm beyond frustrated! This has been months and months at the same weight and I have probably 100 lbs to get up my goal! This makes me feel like I did the surgery for nothing. Granted I lost weight, but not even close to what the doctor said I would or even as much as others I know did (and I work at it soooo hard). The doctor & nutritionist basically just praise me for losing and are no help, just keep telling me to keep up the good work! UGH! :-(

    Meal ideas?

I've been in this long plateau and just want to budge and move that scale!! Ugh! What do some of you eat? I'm 13 months post-op. eating the same ole thing is getting boring... Give me an example of your 3 meals and snacks! Thanks! :-)
  9. I was sleeved Oct 2013...I was losing right along for months and actually my doctor said I was above average, then BOOM...started to slow in May and have now lost nothing since July! I will gain 3-4 lbs, lose that then repeat the cycle over & over. I eat healthy..no bread or Pasta at all. Limited amounts of brown rice or lentils. Lots of Protein and fruits & veggies. I also workout 5 days a week. I'm feeling very fat & depressed!!! My start wright was 360, down to 278, but truly have a long way to go. ANY advice would be so helpful!!! My doctor is great, but just praises me got how I've lost and no advice really as to how to jump start my wright loss again?!?!?

Sleeved a year ago and stopped losing...need advice!

So true about the calorie counting...went into fitness pal & it seems so time consuming! I really am conscious if Protein, protein, protein and make that my first choice in each meal. Trying to make sure I drink enough Water each day, which I'm probably not! I only drink water, unsweetened iced tea & a cup of coffee with truvia & sugar free creamer each morning. I think I may make better snack choices maybe?? I usually grab a yogurt or some cheese or cream cheese stuffed celery....what do you all eat for a snack? I've cut out most carbs like bread, rice, etc....if I do eat potatoes or rice, it's just a tablespoon or two. I eat alot of chicken, turkey and veggies. Yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, salad with some sort of protein, eggs. I try to change things up a bit with my recipes to make things different (last night I stuffed halved peppers with a mixture of seasoned ground turkey with onions, garlic and lentils. Topped with marinara & shredded park cheese...YUMO!!) So glad we have this site to support each other!!! WE can only understand what we are actually going through!!! I have great friends I can talk to, but they all start with "OMG...look how much weight you've lost, you're so luck and I'm jealous". BUT they don't "hear" what I'm upset about...plateauing with all the work I put in! Ugh!! Thank you all for being my true leaning posts!! :-) xo

Sleeved a year ago and stopped losing...need advice!

Thank you so much, each of you...any suggestions are so helpful. Agree that it is a pain to count calories, but I'm going to try it! Maybe will help find that missing link. I have had my thyroid checked and it was fine. Also my surgeon had me do a barium swallow test to check for leaking or blockage in my sleeve. It too was fine. Sometimes I feel like I'm smashing into a brick wall....I mean I'm eating healthy, working out, had sleeve surgery and yes I've lost alot of weight, but all this work not to come close to my goal!! :-(

Sleeved a year ago and stopped losing...need advice!

I don't count my calories, but definitely don't eat too many. even if that was the case, I burn a ton of calories at the gym! I have always practiced no drinking 1/2 before or after a meal (or more). It's like no matter what I do....I'm stuck!! No alcohol !

    Extremely frustrated and feeling down

    Thank you!!!!
  14. I am 10 months post-op and have lost a total of 93 pounds. Don't get me wrong, I'm so proud of that number, BUT I have lost NOTHING in 3 months!!! I even gain a few pounds then lose then...kind of like a game with just those few pounds. Up and down, up and down! I workout at the gym a minimum of 3 days a week, but usually get there 5 days. I eat right, with the exception of a few bites of not great choices here & there, but nothing to even blink an eye at! Everytime I talk to my doctor, she says "hmmm you really should be losing more rapidly still...lets have you talk to the nutritionist." Then they agree I'm eating fine and I end up with no help or suggestions!!! Has this happened to anyone else out there? What did you to about it? Please help?!?!?!?!

    Extremely frustrated and feeling down

I just had my thyroid checked...normal! I did have some "female" issues and just had surgery (one day) on Monday. Was thinking maybe that was a factor?! I only drink water or fresh brewed iced tea and coffee in the morning. I eat enough protein, always making that the main part of my meals. Some days I feel great and "smaller" then others I feel bloated and huge! I think maybe I might try to go back to the "beginning" stage and see if that helps kickstart my body?!?!? I'm so so so frustrated and sad, like I've done this for nothing since I'm working so hard & feel like I'm hitting a brick wall!!

    Sleeve dislikes

Anytime I eat something my sleeve doesn't like, I get cramping. I would advise as you introduce foods slowly, only do a small bite & see how it goes. Once I got out of liquid stage, I found it hard to do some of the soft stuff at first ( couldn't even eat just one whole scrambled egg for a while) but it got better. Couldn't tolerate peanut butter. Everyone is different....so be patient & listen to your body :-)

    What's your menu consist of?

In my busy life as well, I tend to eat a little of what my family is having, but I cook healthy for them too. If they're having something like pizza, then I have salad! :-) but we have gone out to eat & I've been a me to order from kids menu (grilled chicken) and even been to McDonald's and I've gotten a small cheeseburger & took it off the bun :-)

    What's your menu consist of?

I'm 6 months post op and sticking to healthy choices for the most part. Hard to change up certain "routine" foods. Curious as to what you all are eating on a typical day and what works well for you? My nutritionist still wants me to drink a shake between meals, do you? Since I keep hitting a stall every couple weeks, thought I'd change up my meal plan a little.

    What's your menu consist of?

I was so happy once I could eat salads....one of my favorite foods! :-) I make a great salad with spinach, farro, tomato, mushrooms, feta, red onion, cucumber and mix a little prepared pesto with balsamic vinegarette. Delish!!!

    What's your menu consist of?

I too have felt hungrier as the months go on, but try to stick to healthy choices or some sort of protein if I need a snack. After asking many, it seems normal. Once I hit a plateau I'll admit I got worried, but realize that's normal too. My nutritionist says to add veggies & whole grains into my diet, not just protein. So I will eat some wheat thins with cheese or small portion of whole grain pasta with a meatball & sauce or egg salad on half a multi-grain sandwich thin.
