I think the haircut is my answer....unfortunately I've been growing it out for years because I had short hair ALL my life. But, at least I know it suits me. I will just have to suck it up and get through this phase with a good attitude. From what I've researched, there's no REAL proof that all the shampoos, vits, Biotin or what have you actually really prevent the loss. It's just an unfortunate, guaranteed side effect but thank God, seems like most folks have experienced good re-growth! Where's the baseball caps & scarves aisle??!

I'm finding some answers to my questions now, thank you for your help!

Ok, I've found some other forums with more feedback.

Aren't hair loss and nutrition linked? Sorry, I thought so. I searched "hair loss" and 1000 posts came up non of which had anything to do with hair loss..... if you move this how do I find it again? I find this site's forums to be extremely complicated and not too user friendly.

Today marks 2 months and 51 pounds gone forever! I am thrilled with my surgery results. However, I wish I could feel "happy" about my overall health and wellness. I have struggled with nausea, fatigue, constipation, gas, bloating, discomfort, depression - I know all 'normal' elements of this life changing journey, but I thought the sailing would be smoother by now. I feel my poor family is going through the wringer with me as they always have to put up with me feeling horrible and taking breaks, sleeping or cutting things short. Especially my husband. He's SUCH a good sport and my biggest cheerleader and support but I am feeling for him now. This recovery period has really taken it's toll on me and those I love. Everyone continues to encourage me and tells me "it will only get better and better", but I know I walk through this alone really and truly. I have contacted my surgeon multiple times about the discomfort and pains and nausea etc, etc, etc. I do what he suggests - walk, Water & Protein, but it just doesn't seem to want to shift. He tells me it's 'normal' and while that should bring me comfort, after 2 months, I want to scream at him! I'll have one or two good days followed by 5 miserable ones. It seems the afternoons-evening are the hardest times for me. I'm hanging in there and waiting for the day I will feel as good as I'm starting to look.

Another thing... I'm almost 7 weeks out and still have trouble getting in all my Water. When I don't get enough everything is just bad. But on the days I do get enough I feel like a normal person. Just a thought. Seela, I think the water thing has so much to do with my down mood. I can't believe it, this past week has been down right depression, like NOTHING is making me feel happy or joyful. I know there's an aspect of your old relationship with food having to "die" but this is just ridiculous. I'm crying at the drop of a hat and not laughing like I used to and NO I'm not pregnant!

I have found that Beans, cabbage and certain fibrous veggies give me more of a "gas reaction" than other foods. But, also, the digestive process produces gases for any foods and with little room for it to disperse, we feel every bit of it.

Thank you everyone for your valuable feedback! I can always trust this site to help encourage, enlighten and support me

Sorry, but it's true. I read an entry weeks back about a woman who said her husband was noticing/complaining about her new "odor" since surgery. She said it was due to Ketosis happening. Well, I thought it odd, but now I seem to be in the same predicament. It's like a new body odor that I can constantly smell. EVEN after showering, I just have a different smell to me. And while my husband looks at me like I have 2 heads when I ask him if he notices, It's very annoying. I can't actually tell if it's just a "smell" in my nostrils or what it is, but it definitely is coming from me. Sometimes it smells like onion but it's always a savory weird smell. Sorry to be gross. Anyone else brave enough to chime in on this one? ha ha

My poor husband, I'm always making him wash his face and brush his teeth multiple times a day because any smell just triggers horrible nausea. Living in India at the moment doesn't help either!!!

I laughed so hard about checking the baby!!! People have no idea what we face! They just see our shrinking waist lines and think "lucky you"

Good to know it gets better!!! Yes, I too am stocking up on the SF mints!!! I had a drain for 2 days and I'm 52 days post, so I know it's not that for me. I guess, time will tell!

48 days post surgery and I've been doing great with eating so far then all of a sudden, NOTHING is appealing to me. Not eggs, not Soup, not Protein shakes, not yogurt, not tea.....NUFFIN' I am hungry and LOW energy and feeling sick from not getting my calories and protein in. My nut just says, do your best and gives me suggestions and tells me to get my Water in as best I can. I just feel awful thinking, will it normalize, is it a phase?

My surgeon says I need to be walking 3 miles a day within a 45 minute time period. Sometimes, just doing laundry exhausts me. I have no idea how I'm able to do that much exercise so soon (I'm 43 days post surgery). People are posting about all the energy they have so soon after surgery, I'm still waiting on mine to kick in! Maybe doing MORE exercise would help with that? What types of exercise are you doing and how much per week?

I'm 41 days post surgery and in the beginning, my surgeon said I could drink 50ml of Water or liquid and then needed to take a 2 minute break. Once I'd reached 250ml, I needed to take a 30 minute break before eating or drinking anything further. Is this the way I will need to eat/drink forever? I have to get down 3 liters of water a day and at this rate, I'd have to drink 24 hours a day!!!!!! Any tips?

I HAVE discussed with my doctor, I just wanted some feedback on what's "working" for fellow sleevers. As MOST things, there's 33 answers to any one question about this life change. Living abroad in India, I am trying to get the fullest knowledge. Almost everything I've been informed on differs from the State side patients. Sometimes it's a little scary but I'm figuring it out, continuing my research and making good progress!! 43 pounds in 41 days!

I am 34 days out of surgery and have woken up every morning since with the most sour, acidic and fiery stomach. Water doesn't seem to help. I immediately take my chalky, stomach coating liquid stuff and pop my PPI. It takes the entire morning, sometimes into the afternoon to feel "normal". I've tried eating right away but nothing seems to alleviate it. Is this what you vets experienced? When does it stop happening??? Any tips?
