Returning to work 1 week after surgery?
sleevette posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, Is it realistic to return to work 1 week after surgery??? I'm a nurse, so my Job is very demanding physically at times & I'm on my feet all day.. Advice please? -
Should I have the surgery?
sleevette replied to Short N Sweet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do what makes you happy only you have to live within your body forever! Mums are meant to worry, but would she rather worry about you having the surgery or worry about your health problems if you don't get it done now? Best of luck with your decision. -
I found that a lot of brands that they have available here in WA have sugar coated all over them... I wasn't having it so ordered the celebrate bariatric multivitamins online..

Where do we get the clear broths from? Or do we have to make it ourselves from scratch?

Do we buy the broth in packs or is it something that we have to make from scratch?

I'm also trying to prepare myself for surgery. Today I ordered chewable multivitamins from an American company called celebrate (As I'm in Australia), they specialise in vitamins for bariatric patients. Also I got some chewable fibre as I've read on here that we may experience constipation.. And finally, I bought optifast shakes, going to get a head start and start early to prepare my body/liver for surgery. Hope this helps a little, but like you I'm also wanting to know what else I should buy ready for surgery before & soon after??

Just trying to srart the Sleeve process
sleevette replied to LaurenB8604's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The process in America is sooo different to the process here in Australia, I saw my GP, he was supportive and had a referral to a specialist he highly recommended straight away for me, 3 weeks later I saw my specialist & was booked in for surgery on the same day which was 5 weeks away.. And my private health covers all hospital stay costs, all I had to pay was the excess fee of $500.. It's awful that they make it so difficult and make people who need the help wait so long -
The only people in my life that know is my fiancé & mum... I don't feel the need to tell anyone else, as far as I'm concerned it's none of their business.. I'm a very private person and plan to keep it that way!

Returning to work 1 week after surgery?
sleevette replied to sleevette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok cool, thanks. I know my manager won't be too happy with me if I take off a whole extra week. But it's my health & I would hate to cause myself avoidable complications.. Thanks for the advice -
Returning to work 1 week after surgery?

Thanks for your reply. My only problem is I've only been given 1 week off & that's for the rest of the year... Will our surgeons write a medical certificate to ensure the extra week off from work? It's so complicated. Especially in my work environment, if I went back on light duties, I would have a million questions asked as to why I needed it.. Plus they all gossip! -
Hi Perth sleevers, I'm scheduled for the 22nd November at Mercy hospital under Dr Dolan. Can't wait..
