  1. I haven't had my surgery yet but I don't think I could keep my family away if I wanted to. We are a close family and I'm the youngest at 52. Each of my sisters have indicated that they will be at the hospital as well as some friends. I'm ok with that as long as they don't expect me to entertain them. :)

This-family was there but I laid in the hospital bed in pain and cranky- after they saw how cranky I was they stopped trying to talk to me and sat there for hours talking to each other-it seemed to give them comfort just being in the room , we have to remember loved ones are worried about the outcome as well and being there reassures them

  2. I am scheduled for RNY on 7/9/14, this is my first time hearing about a drain!! Do all gastric bypass patients have a drain?

I believe so but the drain is not as bad as it sounds. It's for your own protection to prevent infection.

OP you will feel better soon. I swear I was mad at everyone on this board right after surgery. I felt like no one told me how bad it would hurt or how miserable I would feel- truth is everyone's experience is different but the discomfort will pass.

  3. I agree. I gulp Water all the time. The 1st month, however, I had to drink my water slowly at room temp (and I'm an ice cold fan). cuz it sat like a brick in my chest. After that tho, I would think there's no limitations in how fast u drink ur water. Unless ur doing it like a beer bong, that is!

Pre surgery drinking 32 oz if water was the one ""diet" rule I could stick too-now almost 6 mths later I still can't follow this rule without discomfort

  4. I have really been ok with the sweets except I had a coconut snowcone two days in a row and I have to say it was heavenly but I felt like pooh after! will I have another this summer prolly but it weigh everyday so if I do gain I will know!!!! I still have 90 lbs before I am where I want my ultimate goal!

I was thinking about how bad I feel physically when I eat something now post-op-eating sweets and carbs would make me feel good before surgery now I feel like crap every time (are you hearing me head-so stop doing it!!!) :-)

My body is still looking for that old "high".

  5. I have this new small body body and am having trouble finding cute summer dresses to buy. I wear size 4 in pants but need smaller in dresses. Went shopping only to find very limited supply of size 2 dresses. And the ones I found were low cut of v neck, not flattering for my A cup.

Yup. I might taser you first. :D

Was thinking...cry me a river. I wish I had your problem.

  6. Hi Monica, I don't compensate by eating more when I work out. I still stick to my plan and get about 85 g of Protein in a day and I keep my calories between 700 and 800 a day, actual food, not minus exercise. I have had a couple days when my activity level has been unusually high, if that happens I will have an 80 calorie Greek Yogurt, but I really try to avoid that. Good luck! Carol

Can I ask if you eat 700-800 food only not counting your Protein Shakes?

  7. I had my surgery in December. I just recently received the bill for $35,000. My insurance paid all except $185. I live in Chicago not sure if that matters or not.
