    Thanksgiving Challenge

  2. Well folks I ended up tearing a stitch. It's an extra stitch my surgeon out in to help prevent hernias, but since I'm young and don't have a lot if risk factors my surgeon said it wasn't necessary to go in and repair it...so or now I'm just sore sore sore

    3weeks post op

I'm having the same problem. When I stand or walk I'm fine, but sitting and bending is really painful. My surgery was the 17th and I went back to work yesterday and I have a desk job. By the time I get home from work it's really tender, and my pain meds don't help I was told there's a stitch somewhere in there that they used to help prevent a hernia from developing and it can tug. My main incision has been indented from day one, almost like they pulled too tight or something. My surgeon told me that as long as it doesn't bruise I'm fine...bruising is a sign that that stitch has torn.

    How have your tastes changed?

I can't handle sweet like I used to. I've been lucky and haven't experienced any nausea, but I get a tummy ache from too much sweet. Ice cream is too much for me now. I thought the protein shakes were bland before surgery but after surgery they are too sweet... It's takes getting used to. I also don't like mashed potatoes anymore, and they were my favorite before!
  5. I'm 14 days post op. I have an appointment with my surgeon on Friday, but the last couple days I've had a new pain. It feels like it's my stomach, and sleeping is really difficult since it isn't in the center and no matter how I lay it's irritated. It's tender to touch too. My incisions are pain free, but I'm concerned this could be a sign of a leak and I don't know if I should wait for my appointment or if it's just my stomach healing... I'm only taking my pain meds at night now, but they don't seem to help. Anyone else experienced this?

    Thanksgiving Challenge

First weight loss challenge! I'm 14 days post op. HW 253.6 CW 232.0 Thanksgiving Goal: 215 So far I'm losing weight fast and I'm starting to workout too, so I'm hoping the losing continues for the first few months!
  7. I was sleeved the 17th too and I'm having the same issue..I seem to only be able to get like 3 oz. in at a time before I'm full. I'm so sick of protein shakes too! When can you start food?
  8. I'm now 9 days post op, and I know it's early, but I'm concerned that I'm never going to be able to drink fast again...I've always been a gulper, and this whole sipping thing is REALLY difficult. Is this something that changes as you heal or no? When I take to big of a sip, or take more than one in a row, I get a gas bubble. It goes away fairly quickly, but it isn't pleasant... I'm also curious, how long until everyone was able to use straws? I'm also a straw user and not using that and not gulping is making drinking a pain...I just seem to forget.

    OCTOBER bariatric beauties

Your probably just till swollen and loaded with fluids from the hospital. I've read it's actually totally normal to go up after surgery..I would be discouraged too, but keep your head up!!

    Pasta or Not

Spaghetti squash is really good. Most have directions right in them but you just have to throw the squash in the microwave and then cut in half and the meat of the squash resembles spaghetti...then you can add meat or sauce or whatever you like. It tastes a little different, but with sauce it's just like spaghetti.
  11. My surgeon and NP suggested that I take milk of mag when I get home jut to get things going. I didn't have to cause I went before that, but they said it helps with going number 2 as well as tooting.

How can you tell what to eat?

Yeah my surgeon says to do liquid two weeks post op then move to puréed, but he also said to call if I get tired I liquid and really want to move forward to puréed. I think I'm just eager for food. My protein shakes helped my number two issue as well...
  13. Im having no problem getting liquids down, any consistency, any temp, and I'm just curious how you can tell when your ready to move into puréed. Coughing and dry heaving we're EXTREMELY painful in the hospital, so I want to avoid vomiting at all costs. Also, I know this is TMI, but how long before people had a bowel movement? I'm not surprised that I haven't had one since there isn't much in me, but I don't want to go too long without one.

    23 years young...October 17th!

I am now home!! I know it seems crazy, but just being home seems to have helped... I was switched from liquid pain Meds to pills, which has been super helpful. I keep having to cough, which hurts like crazy, but Other than that I'm ok.
