  1. I struggle with the optifast and generally am not able to finish it, but at least I know the protein is there, both my surgeon and the dietician have really hammered home the "protein before anything else" message.
  2. Oh ok, I was lucky already in health fund and decided just to cover the gap so it all happened pretty quick for me. First appt with Paul on 10th Sept then surgery on 8 Oct. I had done a lot of reading and research beforehand (wish I had found this site) so felt it was right time for me. The surgery itself I have to say has been the easy part so far, but honestly I think if you are really ready for this change then you just take each day for what it is and know your one step closer to where you want to be. Feel free to ask questions along your journey I will be more than happy to share my experience.
  3. We are almost neighbours lol, I really liked Dr Caska, he was very reassuring and gave me all the time I needed to go through my questions during my appointment with him. How come you have to wait till next year?
  4. Hi clark02 I'm up the northern end at Lake Haven, feeling pretty good, finding I get really tired quickly and trying to learn what my tummy is now saying lol.
  5. I thought everyone would be doing the same thing so it was interesting to read the differences, I had to do clear fluids only for first three days, now 2 Optifast and clear fluids till Tuesday, then I go to full fluids with the optifast for about a week, purée for 10-14 days then soft for 10-14.

    Any October sleevers?

Hi Missy, I live on the Central Coast NSW had my surgery done five days ago. Honestly I would have to say the surgery itself has been the easiest part, virtually no pain apart from those in my shoulders and under my ribs from the gas and they soon go if you get up and move around a bit. I started at 133.5 kg and am looking forward with fingers crossed for my first weigh in on Tuesday. I really am only a short step ahead of you but I am happy to answer any question I can, good luck with your op.
