    Seventy & having sleeve surgery

I was sleeved 1 month before I turned 70. The operation was a piece of cake for me.. Almost no pain. And I have the lowest pain threshold ever. I'm out almost 6 months and have lost 80 lbs. Adjusting to a new way of eating is an on going process. I am also taking more meds than before because I need Vitamins and supplements. Getting in enough Protein and Fluid every day can be a challenge but it does get easier. I fill up quickly when I eat but I do feel hungry between meals. It has really been a miracle for me. I can do so many things I couldn't do before. Just going to the gym and showering and changing with no difficulty is worth it alone. I'm sure you've been through many, many medical tests to be sure you are a good candidate. I say go for it. It will improve your life Immensely . ML

    any CT sleevers?

That's a shame. I don't drive at night so I have to rely on my family to take me. I've only been to two but wish it were more.

    Pain Threshold

Thanks goof luck to you too.

    Pain Threshold

Glad to hear your pain was minimal. I'm expecting the worst and asking for dilaudid as soon as I'm conscious. Maybe even before !!
  5. I have a very low pain threshold. I've been though 5 surgeries and was in lots of pain after all of them. The usual pain meds like Vicodan and Perocet. do nothing for me. Please tell me that there are stronger pain meds out there that will make me comfortable. The anticipation of the pain after surgery is my biggest concern at the moment. Thanks Thunderhead27

    any CT sleevers?

Great! I have 6 more days until mine and my thoughts are all over the place. One minute I'm excited and the next I wonder why I'm putting myself through yet another surgery. I just want the day to be here so I can stop thinking about it and second guessing everything. Have you been to many of the support group meetings. I wish there were more of them in the Enfield area.

    Senior mentor

I am 69 and have surgery November 4th. The closer it gets the more rattled I get. I could use a buddy or a mentor in my age group.

    any CT sleevers?

Yes I'm from Ct. My surgery is November 4th at Hartford Hospital.
  10. I am making myself a poster with pictures of all the reasons I am going to get the surgery. The plan is to have it to look at if/when I become discouraged. It will also be a nice visual for those who want to know why I'm doing this. In fact I may copy it and post it on my FB page. Please feel free to do the same. Maybe we can share them at some point.

    Age and surgery

I am 69 and will be 70 a month after surgery. My date is November4th. It's so great to read about others in this age group that have undertaken this adventure.

    Almost Seventy

I am going to jump in here because I am 69 . I have my surgery on Nov. 4th and will be 70 in a month. How does all this work for we more mature folks?
