I understand your frustration. I was sleeved on nov 18 and lost 10 pounds the 1st week which I know was just Water mostly. So now here I am 2 weeks and 2 days into my "3 week stall." If actually really lasts 3 weeks I'm going to lose my s**t. I even gained 2 pounds. I get that fact my body is adjusting to the trauma of surgery and also trying to hold on to everything I put in it because it thinks I'm starving it. My understanding has turned into complete frustration. I decided to up my calories thinking that would help. I went from about 500 to about 800. 200 calories was just from my Protein shake which I hate but i suck it down anyway. I know everyone that says this is normal but it doesn't feel like it. I just makes me feel like I'm failing. It makes me feel like I wasted $12,000 of my hard earned money. I could have gained 2 pounds on my own...ugh

oh. well tilapia works too. I just want to be able to bake it in the oven or in the skillet and not have to mush it up or puree it. I wanted to make sure that was what "soft food" meant. I will wait on the salmon for awhile.

Anybody Else Cheating?
ucjes replied to MississippiQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh no not me! I wouldn't dare cheat in the beginning. I had surgery on nov 18. first week was Clear Liquids, 2nd week was full liquids. That week was thanksgiving and I had a Protein shake for thanksgiving lunch. I went to my dad's house that dad and purposely showed up after everyone was done eating. Worked out great. I wasn't hungry anyway so it wasn't a big deal. This week is purees. So now its cottage cheese and chicken salad. Still not hungry. Just eating cuz i have too. -
Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...
ucjes replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i had surgery on the 18th. I've had hardly any problems. I had a little gas for a couple of days but not much pain. My stomach wa a little sore for a few days but I had one of those belly band things that keep everything from moving around. That helped a lot. I had no problems with drinking water. I lost 10 pounds the 1st week and now a week and a half later I have lost nothing else. I finally had throw the scale up in the closet so I would quit weighing myself every day. I've read that these little stalls are normal and it's just your body trying to adjust to everything. Its still extremely frustrating. This week started my purees and i'm living on chicken salad and cottage cheese. I haven't been hungry at all which is great. So eat because I have too...lol Can I lose a few pounds already? jeez...anyone else have this problem? -
Gained Weight 2 Weeks Out?
ucjes replied to Bronco0605's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pretty frustrated my self. I had surgery on nov 18 and lost 10 pounds the 1st week during my clear liquid stage. Now a week and a half later I have lost nothing else. Finally I decided to put the scale up in the closet so I won't stand on it everyday. I'm beyond frustrated. Everyone says this is very normal and your body is just trying to play catch up. idk -
2Nd Week And Already In A Stall...wtf!
ucjes posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there. So my first week went well and I lost 10 pounds. I guess that happens when all you are putting in your mouth is Water and tea. My 2nd week has been a totally different story. This is my full liquids week. Now I'm drinking Protein shakes, milk, a little bit of creamy Soup, and greek yogurt. I'm also trying to get in at leaf 60 oz of liquid a day. Some days are better than others on the 60 oz. I'm probably getting in 600 calories. Anyways I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do and nothing is happening. At one point during the week I lost half a pound. Today is saturday and since monday I am up almost a pound since monday. I guess there are several factors to this. My body thought it was in starvation mode and it's holding on to everything I put in it. Its possible my body is just trying to adjust after all the stress of surgery. I figure after my body is adjusted then I will start losing....I hope... Anyone else have this issue? what do you think? thanks a bunch! Jessica -
2Nd Week And Already In A Stall...wtf!
ucjes replied to ucjes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this was my full liquid week. I started drinking milk which is actually pretty filling. Also I started eating greek yogurt and creamy Soups and straining out all the chunks. of course I'm trying to suck down the nasty Protein shakes. At first they were ok now I just can't stand them. yesterday I got Isopure Protein powder with 50 Grams of protein!. I figure I can get one of those in and try to get the rest of my protein somewhere else. tmrw starts purees and I'm pretty excited about it. I hope it will help with my exhaustion and getting the scale moving. -
nope. You do not have to jump thru all the insurance hoops. I was self pay. When I went to my first consultation my surgeon told me I could go ahead a schedule my surgery 3 weeks later. I didn't have to see a therapist, do a 6 month diet I hear about or anything. I did have to do the 2 week liquid diet though. I also had to do some blood work and and EKG but that's it. I didn't have my surgery 3 weeks later though. I waited a few months until I was on vacation from work

1St Week After Surgery..how Did It Go?
ucjes posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on monday and it went well. I spend all day tethered to a iv poll and a catheter. The next day no catheter but still the dreaded IV poll. I had the option to go home tuesday night but my mom doesn't see well to drive at night so they gave me the option to stay til wednesday morning. Now it thursday and I'm trying to get my 60 oz of liquid a day in that is required by my surgeon. Pretty much Water, broth, and Jello. I was just a little curious so I stepped on the scale this morning and not much change. I think I went home heavier than I started due to all the fluids they pumped in me at the hospital plus I started my period this week which was a real drag. I usually gain a few pounds of water weight during that time. My feet were puffed up pretty good due to all the extra Fluid but that is starting to subside now. My follow up is tuesday so I will see how that goes. I'm thinking I may stay off the scale til then. anyways I would like to hear how everyone else's first week went. Also how much did you lose that first week. I'm 5ft 1 and 266 pounds. well I was the day of surgery now my scale says 267....damn water weight -

I started full liquids today. I strained progresso cream of bacon and potato and it was the best thing I ever tasted. So good. After a week of drinking in Water it was such a welcome treat -

that's great. Im down 10. I guess that's what happens when you don't eat anything for 9 days...lol I haven't gotten much protein in since I'm just drinking clear liquids. My nutritionist did say the 1st week but be a wash for protein since there isn't much in clear liquids. I mentioned the injury chicken Soup flavor which has protein but I decided I am sick of all things chicken broth but I forced it down this morning because it's filling. Last night was the first time I felt semi sort of hungry so I went to bed early. I got up this morning and drank my nasty protein chicken broth. lol My gas pains are few and far between now. That mostly happened in the first few days but hasn't been much of a problem since. Starting monday is full liquids and I'm so excited. I thought I would never say I would be excited for another Protein shake but I am. lol -
How Long Did You Wear Your Belly Band After Surgery?
ucjes posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lol...well that's what I call it. Its the stomach band they put on you after surgery so when you move around your stomach doesn't jiggle and cause you pain. just curious to see how long you kept it on. I had surgery on monday and I've still been wearing mine on and off. I went for my first car ride today and walk around the grocery store with my mom and I'm glad I had it on. -
I keep reading everyone having so much problem with drinking Water. I had surgery on monday and I really haven't had any problems getting in water at all except the 1st day. The 2nd day of surgery I could barely take a sip without getting nauseous. I've been drinking a lot of propel zero water and crystal light and getting my 60 oz a day with no prob. I don't get Protein shakes til next week. That will be a welcome change

1St Week After Surgery..how Did It Go?
ucjes replied to ucjes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my dietician said not to worry to much about Protein the 1st week. Not much protein in Jello and Water. I did get this chicken broth by unjury with a lot of protein. It's not too bad -
so my surgery is monday and I have a question about strained cream Soup. my pre op liquid diet called for camp bells 98% fat free cream soup. These Soups are good to cook with but just to eat them is really gross. My week of full liquids after surgery calls from strained creamed soups. ugh gross. all the low fat cream of whatevers are not good. I have discovered the Progresso light cream of bacon and potato which is awesome. There are also a couple of other ones made by progresso that are creamy that are pretty tasty. So do you think if I strain all the big chunks out of the progresso soups that will be ok?

My surgery isn' til nov 18 and I have to do a 2 week liquid diet before that. I have my sleeve class on oct 31 which will I guess explain what alll that entails. At this point I'm just confused. It seems like just consuming liquids I'm going to be hungry all the time. I don't get it. I mean I understand the concept of protein shakes and how they are supposed to be filling. I'm drinking them now as snacks during the day because I have to lose 15 pounds before surgery. I just don't see how only drinking liquids only with no food is going to be filling at all. Seems like its going to be a miserable experience. Can I blend up fruit in them? Can I put coffee in them and make a frappe?
